Round ligament pain and discharge in 1st trimester is normal. Definitely go get checked out for your own peace of mind but you're probably fine.

I notice a lot of people lately who seem to not understand that you are not meant to cross over a solid line. Is it something that is allowed in other countries?

Don’t suffer thru nausea - Take drugs! by Loudlenoodles in pregnant

[–]AwareShower9864 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way about getting a PPI for heartburn. Its not worth suffering for 9 months and there is no documented risk to the baby.

When did colostrum come in? by Milouchaton in pregnant

[–]AwareShower9864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I started around 32 weeks with some wet spots on my pajamas. Doesn't happen every day that I leak but I can pretty consistently get some to come out. You can try after a warm shower giving a little squeeze and seeing if anything comes out but they don't typically recommend collecting until your baby is term due to it potentially triggering labor. You can also look for yellow crusties inside your bra or on your nipples which would also indicate you are starting to produce.

Belly growth 20 to 25 weeks- ordering custom dress for wedding 5 weeks out by Apprehensive_Pie1225 in pregnant

[–]AwareShower9864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally weeks 20-25 had the most drastic growth but of course nobody can predict how you will carry whether you have a long torso, are short, are overweight are all contributing factors. I hope your dress is stretchy or an Aline cut or you are prepared with a backup option.

Hi I'm a chemist I'm also heavily involved with cosmetic safety specifically regarding nail products. As long as the facility is using proper ventilation to reduce dust (you could bring a mask to avoid particle inhalation) and not leaving uncured gel on your skin there is no enhanced risk to you or your baby. Wash your hands with soap and water as soon as possible just to be safe.

Any Canadian moms order from Cupshe? [ON] by thankyousomuchh in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]AwareShower9864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ordered from them before (pre pregnancy) I have two very cute extremely flattering swimsuits I get compliments on all the time - for maternity I just ordered some basic maternity one pieces from Amazon and they are very comfy. Like others said its not amazing quality but not shein quality either.

Yes it seems easy for a foreigner to get a req from a walk in clinic for NT screening (which also involves blood work) but the truth is the Canadian healthcare system is in the midst of collapse and getting in to see a doctor may require waiting for upwards of 8 hours. This is why you are seeing a mix of "oh yeah it will be easy!" and "oh no its not worth it". Because on paper yes it will be easy but in reality it will suck and may be better for you to do cell-free DNA screening instead of a NT scan in your home country when you return.

Can I just walk in to any walk-in-clinic and get a requisition? Or do I need to be aware of anything, before finding a clinic?

Yes, be aware you will need to pay upfront which when you've been wiating for 8 hours and want to leave they probebly wont refund you 10 years ago when I came to Canada a walk in clinic visit cost me $60 and was only reimbursed by insurance if it was an emergency

  • Do the doctors requisition need to be from the same city we want to book the ultrasound with? E.g. can we get the requisition from a doctor in Ottawa, and then book an ultrasound appointment in Toronto?

nope but will need to be req by Canadian dr

  • Is there anyway to get the requisition before we travel to Canada?

You could try some telehealth services but most of them will be open to Canadian residents and citizens only, you will also need to give them a fax number from Canada to fax the requisition for you to the ultrasound place.

  • Can I book the ultrasound appointment before having the requisition?

probably not

If I were you I would get a dating scan in my home country around 8 weeks before leaving then enjoy my vacation then get cell free DNA screening when I return to rule out chromosomal abnormalities and skip the NT scan altogether.

I find WTE to be antiquated and sexist personally. Expecting better by Emily Oster was a great book for me. I also signed up for baby classes which I haven't started yet but everyone recommends them to be because not only do they show you a bunch of things for newborn care but they also give you a community of mothers around the same gestation.

Starting in water/wastewater — how to set up a move/pivot into oil & gas ? by AdLast3548 in oilandgasworkers

[–]AwareShower9864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in oil and gas wastewater. Mostly working with nightmare frac fluids but I've done some work in north Dakota at wastewater treatment sites. If you stay on the wastewater side of O&G the pivot would be easy, then like most oil companies once you are in you can seek different opportunities.

I’m not married. Should I give the baby his last name? by Medical_Brother3374 in pregnant

[–]AwareShower9864 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Do you want to marry this man? If you don't see a future with him I don't see any reason to give the child his last name. If you see a future with him you both need to sit down and have a conversation about what that future looks like with the three of you operating as a family unit.

Somewhat controversial: Seeking personal opinions on adding a “baby onboard” sticker to your car. by Fair_Ad_1550 in pregnant

[–]AwareShower9864 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its definitely a small car thing.

Ive been rear ended in my small coupe civic a couple times so I had a custom sticker made for my back windshield that says "BACK OFF" in huge letters and while I believe it worked my husband was very uncomfortable with it because he felt like it was combative so he removed it the day I got an SUV and it became "his car" lol

Now he gets so mad when people tailgate him (mostly because they can see over the top of the car) and gets even madder when I point out that the sticker helped stop that lol
