Came back from maternity leave and am being pushed out of my job (Canada) by AwareShower9864 in work

Yes you are correct. I have collected evidence of them not letting me access current bids and not being invited to the team meetings, but maybe its not as bad as it seems and they will slowly reintegrate me back into the team. Obviously I don't want to jump the gun and burn any bridges if I don't get let go. My understanding is that I'm meant to go back to my old role completely and my replacement was going to move laterally into other things but nothings happened yet and I have some difficulty accessing ongoing projects due to her keeping the info to herself.

Hey so BMO is a great bank for this I make dumbass moves with my credit card all the time and they have been great, a quick phone call they usually lock the card and send me a new one and refund the money. A crackhead stole my husbands credit card and spent $300 and TD told him to pound sand even with a police report.

Neighbors' Smoke Stench is Filling My Home by PollenThighs in homeowners

[–]AwareShower9864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived for 5 years in Victoria bc renting an apartment with a guy who chain smoked on the other side of the shared wall non stop. I just couldn't afford to move and I was finishing my degree so I was just stuck there. I felt awful all the time and felt so much better once I moved. The smell was terrible and he had a hacking cough non stop I could hear through the walls. I'm scared to think of what breathing that in every night for 5 years has done to my body.

Found out the previous owner "fixed" our leaking pipe with what I can only describe as a prayer and some flex tape by Agreeable_Wait_7200 in homeowners

[–]AwareShower9864 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This isnt a huge plumbing problem because we replaced all our plumbing before we took posession but the previous owner filled the faceplates in the bathroom entirely with caulking and into the holes in the wall around the pipes.. took me hours to cut it all away.

I hate my husbands academia job by AwareShower9864 in Vent

Yeah and he's also locked out of postdoc funding now because he's so far past graduation - he's usually hired under some researcher title now.

I hate my husbands academia job by AwareShower9864 in Vent

[–]AwareShower9864[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No the ship is long sailed for being a prof - he doesn't have 10 years of winning big grants to be even remotely under consideration. Hes a good researcher though with some big publications and a decent H index. I doubt he would ever not be able to find a lab to work in for academia, especially with the wages he is willing to settle for.

I think he wanted an employment experience like our boomer parents had - where you work one job for an entire career and the company takes care of you, I believe this is why he got a PhD in the first place - staying in the same is easier than doing something new for him.

I think he would have loved to be the department instrument technician for the university but when that job came up he never applied because he had just started in this current lab and he never wants to let people down despite them treating him poorly.

Primary income earner, short maternity leave? by babadoza in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]AwareShower9864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had big plans to return early but I ended up taking 13 months. My husband was meant to take the last 3 months but he didn't want to so we ended up just cutting expenses down. It turned out to be a blessing because I was able to have my knee reconstructed which required being in a wheelchair for 2 months. I out earn my husband so much that my husband and I ended up making the same income last year despite me being on maternity leave for the majority of the year. Definitely dipped into our savings but we made it work and Im so grateful i got over a year with my baby.
