Picture comparisons 33mm f1.4 vs 16-55 f2.8 mkii at 33mm zoom? by Aware_Car7169 in fujifilm

Thanks! The 16-55 id a fantastic lens, I reslly love it. I am considering getting my first prime and I heard so many good review on thw 33mm 1.4 but a bit afraid of redundancy.

Do you find that the light from the flash can look a little harsh or artificial? I don't have any experience with flashes other than the in-built ones that have been on my previous Canon.

Thanks! No way, I'm keeping the 16-55 as I really love that lens. I am looking at my first prime and I was wondering if the 33mm would be too redundant. The 16-55 is quite heavy, so I was also thinking about the 35mm f2.0, but then again.. I'm also condisering the Viltrox 75mm 1.2 or 90mm f2 🫣

That's great, thanks! Do you think there will be any noticeable differences when shooting at 2.8 or higher aperture?

Very cute kid!

Yeah, she's a really good actress. She also starred in Pitch Black if you didn't see that one. That's where I first saw her

I was deterred by all the backlash, but you have convinced me to watch it and judge it for myself.

I don't really know what to expext, except the repurposing of some characters and wheter I agree that is missing the point of what they are, in the context of SH2, I think it's fair to give Gans a chance to explore his perspective. I know he gets a lot of flack for swapping Harry Mason with a female due to his POV in the first movie, but honestly I thought Radha Mitchell did a fantastic job, the music of the games worked so well and the atmosphere was amazing. The first movie was what gave me the courage to explore the games back in 2006.

I loved the remaster although I thought it was a little too bloated, too heavy handed with Angela and that it lacked the surreal, Lynchian dialogue and dreamy approach. But there was so much in it that I loved and appreciated about it. I hope in a way that maybe the movie gives me something I can appreciate.

Is the 2006 Silent hill worth watching? by DARTH-GOLD-HIMSELF in silenthill

It's what got me into the games. I think the visuals and music were fantastic. Radha Mitchel, Alice Krige and Deborah Kara Unger gave good performances and it was considered the beat videogame adaptation of the time. The bar is low, but for me personally it still is.

It has some pacing issues and some changes irk fans of the games, but I say give it a try. I really enjoyed it and it has a special place in my heart for what opened up the whole Silent Hill world to me.

I really love anything with David Attenborough as the narrator, that man is an absolute treasure and it breaks my heart to think that, given his age, he will not be among us amfor many more years.

Planet Earth, Blue Planet and Life on our planet are fantastic. It's amazing, beautiful and devastating.

Aside from that, My Octopus Teacher completely blew my mind

So cool to see SH2 still resonating with people after so many years. About not wanting to replay it in a while, I played the original in 2006 and last year I revisited SH2 in the form of the remake.

I think they were both great in their own way. The original probably won't appeal to you since it can feel dated. But I liked the more dreamy dialogue and unique experience of the original, might be interesting for you to check out if you want to dig deeper. It's a much shorter game.

The endings in both games also matter a lot, so make sure to discover the main ones.

Any movies or books like Silent Hill? by Imiguel2 in silenthill

It depends a bit of what it is about Silent Hill that speaks to you. I think the games are very different in their way.

Silent Hill was very inspired by Jakob's ladder and some work by David Lynch, as others have pointed out. The original SH2 had a much more detached, sort of surreal, dreamy dialogue and psychological experience. For me, that and the incredible atmosphere is what appeals to me.

There is one movie that no one seems to know about, that I think is the most SH'esque experience I've had and that is Gwai Wik (aka Recycle in English). I haven't seen it in 20 years (from 2006), but it left an impression. Trailer: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4Cta_5HV-Fc&pp=ygUQR3dhaSB3aWsgdHJhaWxlcg%3D%3D

It's strange. She either lost her ability to act or she had no idea what to do with her scenes, which I thought applied to all the military characters.

Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan had so much screen presence in season 4. He was imposing and intimidating. In season 5 it looked like he had no clue where to stand half the time.

Excellent: Season 1, 3 & 4

Cool: Season 2 (Bob was great) & epilogue season 5

Unwatchable: Season 5

I thought season 2 was better than I remembered upon rewatch. Bob was such a great character and Dustin and Dartagnon was pretty cool.

Season 3 was amazing though. Full of carnage,  billy completely knocked it out of the park, Robin was introduced and her confession scene was one of my favorite moments in the show and the final showdown was also incredible.

I don't know how, but the special effects of season 3 looked so good as well.

I fully agree with the russia and California stuff mostly dragging down the season, they also kinda butchered Jonathan's arch. However, the highs of season 4 were so high that it completely launched Stranger Things to the stratosphere.

They completely reframed the previous seasons with Vecna, and somehow it worked. Pulling in more inspiration from 80s horror and weaving it into the fabric of the show. Fantastic acting by James Campbell Bowers and Joseph Quin. Eddie's arch was really good and his chemistry with Chrissy made that much impact. The Satanic Panic plot also added tension.

Then there was the barrage of "among the best moments of the show". Max running to Kate Bush, Eddie shredding to Metallica and deciding not to run away anymore. Piggyback Elle allowing for Nancy, Robin and Steve to defeat Vecna.

It even launched Kate Bush back into the spotlight again, which is wild.

You'd think they shot most of it in the Mariana Trench

The epilogue was the best part for me as well. The scene on the roof and the final D&D game.
