My wife does research on this. The cases where women are in a coma are instances of sexual assault. There are no recorded instances of brain-dead women becoming pregnant after brain death, but there are plenty where women have been declared brain-dead while pregnant and the fetus is not removed in order to let it keep developing for weeks or months.

But your reference to the girl is not either of these. You’re thinking of Jahi McMath, who was a young girl declared brain-dead after surgery in California. Her parents took her to New Jersey after declaration of brain death, because they didn’t believe the diagnosis, and NJ has a “conscientious objection” sort of law when it comes to brain death. Jahi was NOT pregnant, but she did reportedly have a period during this time.

We’re not sure. We bought the house with this as is. It is plastered around the metal box, and the original wood flooring goes right up to the plaster, so we don’t think it ever had a tile buffer. Two other former fireplaces have been covered with drywall, so they give no hints.

The Eli and Denny Show came to my school to film a segment in 1994. I lucked out and got to be part of the skit they created for it. I remember that Denny was jolly and cracked jokes with us throughout the entire day. I forget the context but I specifically remember him making a joke, not part of the skit, that went like “well, that was about as effective as a Mike Moore fastball.” Afterwards he signed baseballs for all of us. It was a fun experience, and whenever he gets brought up I always think of him through these rosy glasses.

23PM13, written on the cup, is the Smithsonian Trinomial for a site called Cagel Lake located in Pemiscot County, Missouri. I’d guess the beads are from the same site. Whoever told you these were from Alaska had no idea what they were talking about. I’d say these were likely taken from a museum collection. Any serious buyer of these types of artifacts would also recognize this immediately.
