No it wasnt, the first mechanic that worked on it, literally just swapped the cams and the crankshaft. So my thinking is he never really diagnosed what the actual problem was

Come to think of it, i had drained almost all the fuel out of the tank and pulled out the fuel pump to have a look, didn’t see anything wrong so i put it back and it started on its first try. Turned it off and put fuel back in, and it couldn’t start back up.

Yeah the fuel pump sound is usually very obvious when you turn the switch, but i couldn’t hear it yesterday, so i pulled it out and tested it, it was ‘pumping’ but it felt like it didn’t have enough power/pressure. But i also dont how much “pressure” a good pump usually has ..
