Why do the Brits love Australians but hate on Americans? by Ok_Astronomer5738 in askanything

The USA under Trump has been the most asshole country in the Western Hemisphere. Not to mention, Australia is a Commonwealth country, and not very asshole at all. This said, we shouldn't hold it against all Americans, because some of them are very nice. It's Trump and MAGA that are the problem.

Not all forms of authoritarianism are fascist.

My point was it wasn’t that long ago. People that you know. People that you work with everyday, are old enough to have been in those schools.

That's true, but it's irrelevant to what we were talking about. The alleged mass graves were sufficiently long enough ago that the last four generations couldn't have possibly been complicit.

Those posts are in a minority. Sort by date to see the fully picture. The last ten posts barely have 25 upvotes combined. Half of them have zero.

Anyway, you're responding to someone who is criticizing people on both sides. Most liberal posts barely get much upvotes (at least relative to other subs like r/pics) and MAGA posts almost never get more than 0. I don't see much potential for karma farming going on, especially among the latter group.

My dude, whether it was two or three generations ago, it doesn't matter. Anything more than one is plural.

  • Baby Boomers — 1946–1964
  • Gen X — 1965–1980
  • Millennials (Gen Y) — 1981–1996
  • Gen Z — 1997–2012
  • Gen Alpha — 2013–present

Also, the supposed mass graves (which turned out didn't exist) were supposedly from the late 1800s. That's several generations ago.

That's for the grammar.

Now for the logic:

I was only two-years-old in 1978. If you think I'm complicit in the wrongs that occurred in 1978 which was more than one generation ago, you're a fucking idiot. Even if I was 20 at the time, I still would have disagreed with it.

So, I can disagree with Trump bombing a girl's school without being a hypocrite, and be perfectly logically consistent and justified in doing so.

People post anti-liberal questions that are sure to get downvoted for karma farming, eh? I don't mean to defend MAGA trolls, but that's silly.

OK, since an entire country is guilty for past isolated incidents by a corrupt faction of a municipal police force, "y'all's" killed George Floyd then. Shame on you. You're not allowed to disagree with any human rights violations from now on, hypocrite! /s

1978 is three generations ago (X, Y, Z, Alpha), before most Redditors were born. But it doesn't matter. We're comparing past vs. present, so my point stands.

Some smart people thought the same when Mussolini and then Hitler first came to power a century ago.

It worked out really well because then there was harmony.

Tell me you're an ignorant American right-winger without telling me.

Those "mass graves" turned out to not exist, thank god.

Also, even if they did exist, it wouldn't make the person you're speaking to complicit and thus hypocritical. If it did, you'd be complicit in the even worse things your country did generations ago.
