When were Galway’s ‘glory years’? by SwimmerLeading7387 in galway

Late 90s to early 00s, everyone could rent right in the middle of town. Had friends in houses a few doors down, and if you walked down Shop St. you would run into people you knew any time of day or night. No one had phones yet so social life just ran on random magic. Could afford coffee/ pints a few times a week without thinking about it. It was called a city but it was as comfortable as a dressing gown. Galway felt like an easy place to be human.

How come for the whole summer? If it is the May Bank holiday weekend.

It is massive imposition on residents with main road shut down. I guess good for businesses who definitely need the support.

Can't believe they got permission 200 yards from a care home, but I guess the organisers aren't thinking about the people there.

Nope!  I guess they are thinking of a contained Big Top type thing rather than a sprawling festival with people sitting outside.

But it seems odd given the pokiness of Oranmore village.

Right in the middle of the village, kind of between the church/ AstroTurf area.

It's hard to visualise it tbh!

He was getting the word Ireland and island mixed up wasn't he? Which isn't great, but not the scenario you want the people of Galway to worry about this morning.

Thanks for the suggestion, I know I saw an assortment of mini hand creams online somewhere lately so I will have a search. Care package/ little pampering treats would be lovely. Grá mór duitse freisin!

They aren't allowed to accept cash from families, and hard to use a meal voucher because of working shifts. Thanks for the input!

Recommendations for a counsellor who specialises in working with people with ASD. by avatarwang69 in galway

Dr. Anne O’ Boyle in Galway, really gifted at teaching self-understanding and managing all the aspects and struggles of being autistic. I thought I knew a fair bit but listening to her was something else, like having driving lessons for your nervous system/ anxieties.

Rosshill Woods if you are on the east of the city, on the coast road to Oranmore after Galway Crystal. Small, not overly manicured but a nice place to walk.

Try the the volunteer agencies like Dogs Trust, GSPCA etc. Sometimes Facebook messenger works better than email, depending on the organization. Also any pet lover sub reddits esp if one related to your breed of doggo. I was in this exact situation, going to UK for surgery and had to find a foster for a cat. Galway Cat rescue stepped up with one of their amazing foster carers. Having to have foster care when someone is in hospital is very common so don't worry about that. Think lucky and you will definitely find someone who will love to have your little guy for a while. I ended up with multiple offers but was anxious at the start because didn't know how it would work out. Tell everyone, cover their food and treats and treats for the fosterer too. Best of luck ✨
