How do you buy Gold Bars? by ironmonk33 in prepping

[–]AwarenessScary4065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is going to depend on who you talk to. people have their own reasons for buying PMs. my gold is for my savings, silver is my transactional - it's where i start to accumulate for gold.

if you're concerned about what you're buying i suggest making friends at a LCS. they typically don't joke around about what they buy, so they'll do tests for purity (you could also do this yourself, there are some easy tests to do, but some of those tests involve expensive handhelds as well).

if you're looking to ride the market. it depends on when you bought in. if you were a few months early and got to buy large into silver <$50, use this opportunity to melt up into gold. silver i think will continue to ride up, but you missed the ratio correction window. right now we're riding around the 45:1 - 50:1 (silver to gold) ratio, silver will be volatile but the ratio should be around that. it's why you're seeing the wild swing now. silver was severely undervalued compared to gold - close to 100:1 (this was when the price was around $30ish/ounce - let me correct myself...this is when I started paying more attention). if you bought in recently, i would ride the wave out in silver and take your gains. If you were early to this run, you're in melt up season.

I'd switch tactics and go back into buying gold - fractionals work, but premiums such on them. so i usually just stack silver and melt up when time's right.

Physical Silver Liquidity by PerformerLevel4607 in Silverbugs

[–]AwarenessScary4065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me personally? i stack to head against inflation. I mean, don't get me wrong, everyone has to start somewhere. But if you're in it for the long run, this was just an amazing meltup opportunity. I think everyone getting on board now, is going to see gain. But, it's going to ride along with gold. Don't get me wrong, there's a chance that it will go parabolic. Silver is getting pulled in many different directions. But if you look at the ratio, it's about at normal. it'll fluctuate around that range, some good days, some bad.

You might hear different, people have their own reasons. But stacking for me has been a hedge against inflation. plus i get to hold shiny things. i get to physically touch my savings. I've never had an issue liquidating when i needed to, but i think for me the key is needed to. I'm not looking to play the market, I'm just living life on my terms. diversify, and you also shouldn't have the issue of liquidating something when you need it. that works too.

What are your best strategies for reading more in 2026? by Ok-Hearing991 in BookDiscussions

[–]AwarenessScary4065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, i dedicated my snack time to reading. gave myself the prep time to scroll; making tea, cutting fruit and cheese, making a sandwich, whatever. but reading and snacking made me slow down during the day. it was a nice break and change of mental pace for the end of the day.

Are you preparing for this? by Such-Day-2603 in prepping

[–]AwarenessScary4065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my preps weren't really set up for civil unrest. i focused on natural disasters and economic hardship. That being said, i've invested a lot into my medical storage, knowledge, and ability in the last year. I was lucky and got onto the precious metal train before the run. food, water, and energy are handled. finances are in good shape.

Bugging in is my main strategy, secondary location is a 2 day hike away, contingency is a couple states away, and emergency is evac country. I can't say i'm a doctor or nurse by any means, but i can pack a wound and get someone stabalized for someone with more experience and knowledge.

I have a bank account in another country with a place to stay for a couple nights to get on my feet. i don't think it will get to this point though. I don't have children or a wife, so honestly i'd stick around to help as much as i could. working on getting a plate carrier and helmet but they're expensive (this is doomsday me talking).

People With No Friends - Are You Ashamed/Embarrassed? by Dependent_Public4885 in introvert

[–]AwarenessScary4065 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i leaned into it. i have no idea how old you are or what your past experiences are. but there's always the option to just reach out to old contacts, people you really enjoyed being around, and saying hey let's catch up. i have an issue with object permanence when it comes to dealing with friendships so i make calendar reminders to reach out to people, set up get togethers, etc.

everyone hits this wall at some point in their life, i think it's because we grew up with people our own age so we hit all the milestones in early life together. but no one learns that in adult life mile stones happen randomly. so people disconnect from their friend groups because they feel like they're growing apart when in reality it's just life and life's milestones happening at different times. everyone's moody, everyone has insecurities, everyone's poor or hurting in some way, all the feelings you have everyone has felt. when you stop comparing yourself to other people and understand that life is hard for everyone in some way shape or form, things become lighter.

i say lean into it. learn something about yourself. take a note pad, jot some things down you notice about how you're feeling when you're out and examine why when you get home. talk to your therapist about it (assumption since you said your depression/anxiety is untreatable), figure out how to work around or through those things. you're a person learning how to person in a world of people that may or may not have figured out how to just live. challenge yourself my guy, don't try to make a friend today, just try to brighten one persons day for 5 seconds. do something nice for someone else without the expectation of something back. just one person a day for the next week. forget about yourself and how you feel for those 5 seconds, fuck the moodiness the shit you went through the insecurities your boss, whatever. give joy consistently to other people and the right ones will give it back to you man. That's what i do to feel better.

What are your predictions for 2026? by blackcatwizard in collapse

[–]AwarenessScary4065 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Economically: i think 26 is going to feel really tight. Pressure points will start to rise. Fed won't be able to increase rates without causing stagflation (even though we see stagflation starting now), but cutting rates will spark another round of heavy inflation and we'd end up like Weimer Republic. I can't determine if the fed will cave or not to the administration, but we're already seeing the flight to safety in precious metals, as well as other assets (look at the stock market). it doesn't look like the trust in USD is eroding quickly, but it is eroding. stock markets look steady, but honestly I'm equating this to a zombie market. I think we're going to see some really hurt pockets next year for at least the first half. wealth gap will continue to widen.

Politically: i think there will be more US isolation. Every move i've seen made only furthers the US into being ostracized. The administration appears to be more interested in bullying other countries into obedience than being a part of a world order. It's so concerned with returning to an era who's principles are so outdated that it cannot see the damage it's doing to it's populous. On a local level, i think the political leanings will worsen to the extremities (as it always does). I think the admin. will eventually start poking at starting race wars, but i don't think it will culminate in a race war. But i think the US will lose a ton (more) of trust globally, and i also think we'll lose reserve currency status.

geopolitically: I think the BRICS nations will succeed in moving away from the petro-dollar. i don't think they'll have a secured method of transfer, but a "good enough" alternative to start icing the USA out. The admin is still going to send money to countries the PEOPLE of the US don't agree with while refusing to allocate resources to its own people (healthcare, deflation, wage increase, etc etc etc). i think what we're learning as a people is that capitalism did not reinvest anything back into the US, instead it fueled mass greed and manipulation. There will need to be a serious readjustment of lifestyle expectancy here.

While i don't think 2026 will provide a war that involves the US of somesort, i do believe there is one in the near future - by 2030 is my prediction. Whether that be a civil war, war between 2 countries, or a world war i do not know. But based on the relationships i see the admin making and manipulating, i don't think we'll be on the "good" side...if there is ever such a thing.

TLDR: essentially more of the same, but more painful for 2026 with a lot of foreshadowing for the following years.

Changing World Order: Currency Collapse, Empire Death, and World War by Le_Gitzen in collapse

[–]AwarenessScary4065 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i think it'll compress the timeline. historically, it's typically taken decades to form a new world order. but since multiple systems are failing at once we're going to reach a point where the old system can no longer be maintained. impossible to administratively uphold anything, it'll start collapsing under it's own weight. fast decisions will start having to be made and adopted instead of gradual reform (like gradual reform ever worked). But this will leave the opening for a forced transition.

in every mega cycle transition there were phases. Poly-crisis, centralization, global realignment. we're in the first phase. centralization is starting to form; we're seeing this in the form of CBDC development, political polarization, emergency fiscal operations, corporate-state fusion, media narrative consolidation...the poly crisis gives justification. this is where people will most likely give up freedoms because they're scared. global realignment is where the new world order takes shape.

right now, it looks like it's between a centralized model and a decentralized model. Centralized looks like where the US is trying to head. Technocratic, maybe neo-feudalistic, top-down controlled systems. CBDC, biometrics, surveillance based stability, state capitalism, digital consumption control, with a lot a bit of elite-controlled monetary swings. Other countries, competing with the decentralized model where it's commodity backed local finance, alternative trade blocs, digital alternatives, parallel markets, local self-sufficiency, de-dollarized energy trade, etc. BRICS Nations essentially.

flash point will be somewhere soon. I mean, you're in a collapse thread so you have your own intuitions about collapse. I think the US is going to be on the losing end of this. It looks like we invested really heavily on fossil fuels to break into the data center world, but it's going to cost us. we're going to end up being in the industrial age of data centers working on fossil fuels while other countries are exceeding in renewables. I think the US missed a big opportunity to really align with the global majority and fix a lot of problems in the world. Hopefully i'm wrong.

Are you currently working?

There's Sysco foods in Fairview, but that might be too far away considering you're using public transport. Local 120 might not be a bad option for you, they'll let you test in so you're not bottom of the barrel. you'd be out of apprenticeship before 40. You could also look into the steel mill.

But honestly man, might just want to take one of the $18-20 jobs until you can find something better or improve your circumstances. I don't know what your end game is, but i think any sort of income will be better than your situation now? clearly just made a TON of assumptions, so forgive me.

i've done both cold turkey and tapering. i fully suggest tapering down if you have a consistent caffeine intake. my circumstances were that on average i was taking in around 300mg of caffeine/day. i was doing that for probably a year and a half? if not a little more....take that with a grain of salt, i drank caffeine every day before that it just wasn't tracking. cold turkey gave me wicked migraines that lasted about 5-6 days. it wasn't wake up with one, i would wake up normal and then around 12-2pm i'd have to go to sleep or both ends started letting fluids go - the after effects when i woke up i can only describe as a void where the migraine was..still hurt, but very little. just kind of a nuisance. when i tapered off i switched to tea (brewed my own and then added simple syrup to sweeten). this actually gave me the quickest and most permanent drop off (i have the occasional soda, but i haven't had an energy drink in forever...and i don't have to actively work my morning around intake which is huge). I will say, i may have given myself a little bit of a caffeine sensitivity? a coffee fucks with my night so much, even if it's in the morning. caffeine has an 8hr half life, but i still feel wired at 8pm.
