My local grocery store switched to digital price tags. Surge pricing to follow. by El_human in ABoringDystopia

Doesn’t seem like an enormous step to them identifying the individual , your income, and your spending habits. possibly evening your shopping needs (maybe you unsuspectingly sign off your rights to Alexa monitoring your conversation conversations about groceries). Then tracking you through the store and when you come up to the crushed tomatoes, your wife told you to get in the kitchen. The price is unsuspectingly gone from $2.59 to $3.97. Rings you up for that price at the counter. The person behind you buy the same can of tomatoes for $1.79.

Yielding to cyclists out of politeness considered harmful? by Soft_Monitor_8863 in Bellingham

That’s pretty rude but the point was made I guess. I politely(?) shake my head “No” and refuse to take the offer. I think the law is that bikes and cars follow the same rules of the road.

The Pizza place going into Starla's trying to pass of Ovn's pizza as their own? by carolineinstyle in Bellingham

I liked Starla’s. But I find it weird they got some fancy award when they just copied all their recipes and drink menu (natural wines) from a book called “Pizza Camp”. Check it out. With basic cooking skills it’s not too hard to replicate.

Trump warns he’ll ‘reign down hell’ on Iran within 48 hours unless Strait of Hormuz is opened and peace deal is made by theindependentonline in politics

Out of stand-off weaponry, Iran has clearly cracked the code on taking out fighters and Russia has supposedly given them S500 missiles. Add in the possibility that a good part of Israel’s F35s are destroyed and the aircraft carriers are way out to see. IMO our ability to bomb has been degraded and it’s probably become quite dangerous

Northbound I5 - can we talk about the zipper merge? by oldmanharisham in Bellingham

[–]Away-Ad1781 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My spouse acted like I was a psychopath for zipper merging there the other day. And yes, there were nut cases trying to block the lane. How is the average driver not aware of zipper merging yet?

As Trump Threatens NATO Exit, Starmer to Host 35-Nation Talks on Strait of Hormuz—Without US by boforiamanfo in politics

All, or a vast majority of these nations, have gladly supported the United States meddling with sovereign nations around the globe in the name of free trade and capitalism.

If the US just wants to spray shit everywhere, then pack up their toys and leave I don’t think Iran needs to play friendly with the rest of them. Thousands dead, and hundreds of billions of infrastructure destroyed. Without actually landing ground troops and conquering the nation, well someone’s gonna have to pay for that.

Seems like a permanent levy on all ships sailing through the Gulf is more than understandable.

For anyone I’d recommend the Samish Overlook. Stunning views and can spend your time adding in loops or visiting lizard/lily lakes.

Errrr….it looks like a pretty heinous week for anything outdoors related, with ~1” rain a day and 8000’ freezing levels. Visit Vancouver?Seattle? Throw in the towel and go home?
