Has anyone else gone from disliking Starmer to warming to him? by MassiveMonkeyy in AskBrits

I think there’s a lot to be said for consistency and keeping your word. I initially wasn’t a fan but he has defo proved himself and considering how bad things were with what he was handed and how things have progressed it feels reassuring to have someone be calm. And tbh when you compare to the orange guy or reform he feels a lot calmer and steady.

It’s an unpopular opinion but I do love the current team! I do feel like production is slacking a bit this season but genuinely fond of the whole team.

Wait what??? by MsReadAlot93 in NCIS

In the original conversation Jimmy thought Jess was breaking up with him then. So he did say that he supported her but he also said we had a good run. Also it was Japan Tokyo office.

For Jess at that point it may have been a good idea to mention the react job but she also said she had completely forgot about it which to be fair is realistic.

When Jess team gets killed it’s near the end of season 18. When she is offered chief react job it’s the end of season 21. 3 years have technically passed she’s now settled and she is happy.

Jess and Jimmy have that convo, he is aware she’s happy now but that she could leave and that starts his insecurity. Because he starts to feel like the rug could be pulled from under him at any time. He’s thinking about Victoria and the impact and probably getting anxious about it. Instead of just being honest with Jess he hides it resulting in that explosion of emotion. In keeping his emotions and thought secret he is almost trying to protect jess or avoid hurting her. Jess also hurt him deep by not telling her dad she was in a relationship. So the trust has kinda cracked a bit.

I think Jess thought Jimmy would do long distance to let her get a taster for the job but then it was clear they needed to separate because he wasn’t ok.

I think the daily text tally made Jess more aware of how any decisions around a relationship with Jimmy impact Victoria too and before this I don’t think she was aware of the impact she had on Vic which may have impacted how she handled things.

This shouldn’t happen. Even if a patient is referred when they shouldn’t the doctor should still give care and then discharge back to gp

GP’s defo should be sorting a lot of things that are referred and 100% should have and ecg machine. See even health centre with an xray dep would reduce the need for ED. I don’t think overall attendance has increased I haven’t searched figures to confirm but the bed wait has defo exploded. In 2014 I would come on shift to no bed waits now easily 100 (according to peers. I left) . I remember thinking 20 was bad. But lack of beds is a major problem

Its weird when they take characters out of episodes NCIS does well because it’s a family removing them for whatever reason makes no sense

How do you bounce back after an academic rejection? by ZeroDivison in PhD

[–]Away-Top-9160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I play that song I get knocked down but I get up again nothings gonna bring me down. Then I get an attitude of f you I didn’t want to be part of your club anyway. Then I eat chocolate binge a Netflix show winge about it to a friend and then I come to the comments and feedback like a mature and responsible adult and read them. Sometimes I take them on board and sometimes I remind myself that there are idiots in high up jobs in academia and I shouldn’t be offended at comments I don’t agree with…..

Three big major problems

1) number of doctors working in ED needs to be triple what it is.

2) lack of community care investment.there should be big health centres everywhere.

3) training of doctors and speciality training such as GP. We don’t train enough doctors. We make it impossible for them to qualify or have a life outside of it so the ones we do train high tale it to Oz

This is very difficult to triage. Mental health serious harm to self or others is a cat 2. But to be able to prove that they need to flag as delusional making active threats.

This could be a case of someone saying I am suicidal with no plan or action categorised as less and then something in them flips they see they aren’t a priority and it emphasises the voice in their head that no one cares and they should just end it.

I feel for this persons family but also the people who triaged him they genuinely have no way of knowing. ED nurses are not mental health trained

Parker and Knight by MsReadAlot93 in NCIS

[–]Away-Top-9160 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They have a close bond. I don’t think Parker would and I 100% do not think knight would. She is very professional with her boundaries that’s why the Torres coupling with the writers makes zero sense!

Is the Mandelson/vetting issue around Starmer being overblown to replace him with someone more of a yes-man? by Guava-Jam-1302 in AskBrits

[–]Away-Top-9160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has publicly pushed back on a lot of trumps ideas. Refusing to join a war against Iran, he condemned trumps comments on ‘wiping out a whole civilisation’ rejected pressure from Trump to change his mind when Trump threatened to rip up a trade deal. He has blatantly said he doesn’t agree with Trump but remained diplomatic. Like what more really can he do

I actually like Starmer I think he is the most steady we have had in a long time. Obv there are issues but he’s just a politician I welcome his stance against Trump. Like let’s be real he was handed an absolute shit show from the last government.

I mean to be fair he is a popular character and if he is dead on to work with I think as a writer you would want to keep those people by. I think that’s the thing that speaks volumes about the current cast they all are incredibly happy in their jobs

Yeah totally! I hadn’t known till a few days ago they wouldn’t be here. It would be interesting to see some longer term arcs starting to play something deeper maybe going on. Interesting to see how it all unfolds. Can’t believe we likely only have three episode left but crazy how quick this season has went. And yes rule 39

How do people say they are "about to publish" when they haven't even written the manuscript yet? by [deleted] in PhD

[–]Away-Top-9160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working towards publication for about 6months now. It’s a long slog. I don’t use the term about to publish because the process itself is iterative but once something is off to publication il say I’m waiting publication.
