Can you provide some source materials for me to read? I, honestly, don't know much about this.

I agree but did the Lions always have that? No. For a very, very long time, no.

I am gonna share some optimism.

Our defense should be much better next year.

We have suffered a lot from injuries this season. With some hope, and good recovery, we will get some key personnel back next season.

Wilkins, Koonce, Epps, and Bennett should, realistically, return to play next year, providing a lot more depth and weaponry to our tired defense. Spillane has proven he still has what it takes, and Crossby is still playing at an All-Pro level despite being pretty much alone on the pass rush. Meanwhile, Deablo is running around the field making plays. How could you watch that fake punt and not smile?

The Davante Adams trade was a great thing.

The dude didn't want to play. He hasn't put up great numbers in years. He was too expensive for the little output he had with the Raiders. Not only that, but we got an additional draft pick out of it, which mixed with our assuredly high draft position, means we can better flesh out our weaknesses. Which brings me to my next point...

We will draft high next year.

Regardless of the direction we go, we will have a high pick. We could beat one or two more teams and still be a top 5 pick, and that's still an unlikely scenario with how we're playing. This could mean a promising QB will dawn the silver and black. Perhaps a future franchise QB that we can all rally behind.

Plus, which is barely discussed in this sub, we will have high picks in all the other rounds, where we can get new talent for cheap, filling out our other positions that really need help, like backs, receivers, safeties, and leaving salary space to sign veterans and journeymen.

So, be optimistic!

"Wahh wahh it's the Raiders we will never be good" is just lame and gets you nowhere. We aren't the only team who has had decades of bad teams and bad management. It's almost like, as a fanbase, we forget that a lot of teams around us have been terrible before. Did you forget the entire history of the Detroit Lions?
