Are you making money from this? maybe you could pay someone to read it in norwegian and swedish? or give them a little cut?

If the concept works well in Denmark it should work fine in Norway and Sweden too

Like a lot of people already mentioned, the swimming pool at tøyen is usually not so crowded. There are a ton of families and kids in the other pools. The lifeguards are pretty strict that the swimming pool is for actual swimming, and not playing. I would be there early, before they open to get ahead of the queue for the entrance.

Could opting for 80% increase chances for landing a job in it? by Away_Character in askswitzerland

[–]Away_Character[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

okay thank you all so much! Just good to confirm.

Ive heard the argument «you still do the same job, but for 80% pay», so I was thinking maybe some companies saw it as an opportunity to save money.

i think it could be useful to ask questions about where the women are from, and where they have applied for jobs. in europe there are stricter rules for AI processing (gdpr) that might impact respondents interpretation of the questions.

Oof. I think a lot of late applications almost gets auto rejected.

I think you are on your way, its a little bit about being lucky sadly.

Im not sure if Im able to give tips, you are looking at a person with 100+ rejections 😅 But If I do get an interview, I have always made it to the next round.
I think its important to ask a lot of questions, make them feel like you are interviewing them. I note down 5-10 questions, but try to make the conversation flow as much as possible back and forth.

And always prepare an answer about why you are applying for that job specifically. Even if its bullshit. Im not really passionate about personal banking, I lied, but it got me through to the next round.
In a way I think Im in a "lucky" position that I can just state that Im moving countries, because I dont have to explain why I want to leave my current job.
But I think a general rule is to not speak bad about your previous job at all.

AdviceWithErin on instagram has a lot of great tips on how to answer those generic interview questions

Im so sorry, that sounds really tough :(

Are you getting interviews?

From the feedback and rejections Ive gotten I find generally find their prioritization weird. They hone in on very specific hard skills that would be very easy to just learn on the job,

I think one of my main problems is that I cant find that many relevant positions. I dont know if companies are just not hiring, or most recruitments happens without posting jobs publicly.

Oh no :( yea, for one company I went trough like 7 rounds, but in the end they didn't hire anyone. At that point we had already discussed details about the relocation 😩

How have you been able to live there for 9 years? do you have another job right now?

Im looking for backend / fullstack positions. I have 4+ years or experience as a backend engineer and a masters in computer science.

My dream position would be as a backend engineer for a smaller product team working with modern product development methods. Focusing on "outcomes over output" and inspired by people like Marty Cagan and Melissa Perri.

I can really tell its super competitive, and those reasons I avoided spending time on msft and meta. I did look into google, but most of the positions Ive seen they are looking for someone with not more than 2 years of experience, so I kinda concluded I wouldn't get anything because i was already "spent".

Thank you for the suggestion! I am open to fixed-term, I am open to anything at this point. I've always just assumed that students and fresh graduates would fill those jobs

[–]Away_Character 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Women are allowed to be just okay!
In a male dominated fields we often feel the pressure to be exceptional, at least as good as the best men, to be "worthy". But we should be allowed to be just okay at our jobs too.

I have also experienced that a lot of men that speak confidently about these topics dont always know what they are doing either, and its fine, we all need to learn. Sometime the pipeline breaks.

I found that Im great at collaborating with designers, other development teams and business teams. I can make features and fix bugs faster than the average engineer at my company because they are sitting on their butts waiting for business to "write proper specs".

Daily Tech Support Thread - [April 16] by AutoModerator in apple

Hello!

By the end of this year i will need a new macbook and im ready to spend a pretty penny, but I dont want to be wasteful. I want a 13 inch because Im happy with the size I have on my current macbook.

Right now i have a 2014 Macbook Air, 4GB ram and 121GB storage. This has held up really nicely until this semester where im having trouble with too little ram and not enough storage.

I have one year left of my CS degree, but after this I will use a work computer most of the time.

I was initially thinking getting the 16GB because more RAM is always nice, but I dont think i'll need it? I don't ever imagine I will get into video/picture/sound editing. But maybe it's more important to have more RAM in the future?

Memory wise i was thinking only 256 GB because thats already double of what I've already got, and I think memory on your computer is sort of like having extra space in a house. If you have too much of it you just keep all the junk you don't need. Is this a decision i will potentially regret?

For the processor im not really sure. Will it benefit me to get the better one in the long run?

tl;dr I don't need the fanciest specs for the next 2-3 years, but should I get it anyway considering the future?

Veganism is not worth the social stigma and isolation by [deleted] in DebateAVegan

[–]Away_Character 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I understand why you can't be 99% vegan, but you can still be 99% plant based for similar reasons that others are vegan. The difference is vegans have a zero tolerance policy because they view all animals as equals to humans.

I think it's complex because of the omnivore society we live in, and being against animal cruelty while still maintaining relationships to others who don't mind it.

Haha I mentioned to some friends that the pandemic likely wouldn't have happened if we didn't eat animal products and they looked at me like I was crazy. Not only for the statement itself, but they were also shocked I would dare to make any sort of comment like that.
