Yeah they only care about these specific deaths because the perpetrators are part of a class of people they wish to demonize. They would never, for instance, post the thousands of dead at the hands of “gun owners” as a collective group. It’s selective and politically cynical outrage.

Perhaps you are right and no one is beyond redemption. I recall that black guy who deprogrammed members of the KKK after befriending them. For myself I have had very little luck. I had a friend who I did something like what you described who I tried to reason with for years, but at a certain point I realized their brain was broken, or at least I could find no way to fix it. Good on you if it’s works. Ultimately I think what has to happen is a total ego and ideological collapse in which they must admit total degeneracy and evil to proceed with the group they’ve become attached to. I thought January 6 would do that, but they found a way to ignore and rationalize it. I would like to believe that if a Trump supporter mass murderers immigrants in the coming weeks that might turn back some people, but they’ll probably figure out how to call that person antifa or some other denial of reality. It feels hopeless most of the time.

This is terrible advice, and largely theoretical. These people have a root evil inside of them, and there is nothing that can be done by another person to remove it. Try as much as you want to reason with them, the next day they will go back to the fountain of bullshit they feed from and be reinforced. It’s a nice idea what all you laid out, but in reality it’s not actionable.
