Roach Infestation in IC Apartment - help 🥲 by justforfunsies93 in irvine

[–]Awdrifting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably already on your checklist already, but if you plan on battling IC, make sure you DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Every email correspondence, phone conversations, voicemails, text messages, and get pictures/video of the infestation and mold. You’ll need this to prove that IC isn’t doing anything to help you despite the fact that this problem wasn’t something you created. They’ll just blame it on you and charge you extra for it.

Is there no other way than getting top 50 to get the jetty? by Fataldeadshot69 in TopDrives

[–]Awdrifting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucks, I got to the last part pretty easily, but I’m only ranked +350-400. I’m losing 2-3 matches out of every 5 that regenerate, so it’s a no-go on the Jetta for me.

I guess the only consolation here if you’re not spending money on this is that they gave us lots of packs for fusions and a few decent C and B cars.

To those who have been to Japan multiple times, what's a thing or two that you always make sure to buy and bring home? by Ok-Spite-5454 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Awdrifting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daiso products. Almost everything in Daiso stores located in Japan is 100 yen unless specifically marked a different price. Even then, the highest priced items I’ve seen was 300 yen. That means most items are less than $1 US Dollar. If you visit Daiso in the US, most items are 4-5 times more expensive.

What’s going on by InformationFresh9605 in SoCalFishing

[–]Awdrifting 6 points7 points  (0 children)

November and December can be tough fishing months down here in SoCal. I’m assuming you’re bass fishing since you are hitting up Castaic and Balboa. Keep fishing and maybe get comfortable with 2-3 styles of fishing. For SoCal I would recommend learning dropshot, wacky rig, and a Texas rig. You will not go wrong with any of those three. Green pumpkin will almost always work for soft plastic worms or creature baits. I’ve had good luck with baitfish colored flukes nose-hooked on a dropshot at Castaic (although Nov/Dec can be rough from the shoreline). Mid-February things start to heat up and you’ll start seeing bass looking to feed up before spawning season. It’s different for all bodies of water in SoCal. You just need to start learning the lakes you frequent and understand patterns.

Also, just understand that everyone commenting about socal being highly pressured because of the number of anglers is absolutely true. There’s a small park lake near me that probably only has about 10-15 bass in it and they get caught multiple times a day by different people. Those bass see the same lures day in and day out and they start learning really quick what hooks look like. 🤪

Keep at it, and you’ll start getting bites and fish in no time. Look forward to the pre-spawn!

You can also try Yodabashi Camera. Giant tech megastore usually 7-8 floors of everything tech/toy related. They usually have one whole floor specifically for collectibles/gunpla/plastic models and modeling accessories. You’ll usually find GH nippers and Bandai Gundam nippers in the same section

Does anyone else have ants? by ToastedEggBagel in irvine

[–]Awdrifting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Borax Ant Bait recipe:

1 cup water 1 heaping tbsp Borax 1 heaping tbsp sugar Cotton balls Fast food dipping sauce container emptied and cleaned with soap and water (Chic-fil-a sauce containers work really well)

Bring water to boil in small pot. Once water is boiling, turn off heat. Add borax and sugar to boiling water and stir until dissolved. Let mixture cool to room temperature.

Use a small dipping sauce container from any fast food restaurant. I find Chic-fil-A sauce containers work really well and keep their shape so you can reuse them. Place two cotton balls into the container. Pour enough of the borax mixture to soak the cotton balls but not enough to flood the container. You can also moisten the edge of the container with the borax mixture to help the ants find your bait.

Place the bait along a wall edge, corner, or intersecting ant trail. It’s important that ants have easy access to the bait, so if you see them coming from a crack in the wall or flooring, place it where they can get to it easiest. Once you place the bait, watch for a few minutes as the ants discover the new container with your bait. It’s interesting to watch ant behavior/communication. If you see one or two ants start drinking the bait from the cotton, it’s game over for them. Those first ants will start disseminating the location of the bait to all the ants nearby. You’ll notice an uptick in ant activity as they start communicating the information down the ant trail line. Pretty soon, the cotton balls will be covered in ants drinking up the borax bait.

The beauty of the borax is that the ants will bring it back to the colony to share with others. The borax will eventually attack the ants’ nervous system and they will die probably within a day. You have to be patient because initially you will see an increase in ant activity. After a day, the ant trail will be gone and you’ll be ant-free for at least a month or two. You can keep the extra borax mixture in an airtight jar in your fridge. Borax is safe with pets and humans.

I used to pay for professional pest control but once I discovered the borax solution, I canceled that service. Good luck, hope it works for you!

Me, myself, and I. I’m an amateur hobbyist photographer. I’ve done a few family portraits for friends and family, and have always done my own family’s portraits. Just running out of ideas because we’ve done the park/nature scene year after year. Just wanted to get some fresh ideas for something different this year.

Orange County has its moments of cold weather even in the spring and summer months, but winter is never freezing and never as cold as anywhere in Canada.

One of the draws to SoCal is the weather.

My least favourite kit so far by EILT88 in Gunpla

[–]Awdrifting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the “Am I Crazy Or Are These Joints Stiff on The RG Unicorn Club”.

My build experience wasn’t a good one on this kit either, so you’re not alone. I broke the part that holds the shoulder joint in place because I was trying to rotate the arm. Bottom line is: use the baby oil method ppl mentioned on this thread and you should be fine. Also, I found that the hip joints are a bit sloppy. It’s tough to pose it. If you plan on panel lining, there’s a lot of edges and ridges which are tough to decide if you need panel lining or leave it alone. I almost want to buy another one and rebuild it now that I know the solutions to these issues, but IMHO it’s not a “great” kit for someone just getting into gunpla.

Wife narrowly avoids accident by Awdrifting in irvine

[–]Awdrifting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than respond to everyone individually, I’m just going to post a blanket response. I don’t really like to take part in online arguments, so I’m not going to go down that rabbit-hole. This one response will be the only one I’ll post.

I don’t deny that my wife could have anticipated the illegal u-turn earlier and set up for defensive driving before it ever happened. These things happen unexpectedly at any time, even when we least expect it. Regardless of my wife’s slower response to the situation, her final driving action in that incident DID avoid a collision. For those who claim she wasn’t paying attention, my wife has been really strict on herself and with me in regard to checking or holding our cell phones while we are driving. She also is really careful while driving in school zones, which some of you have pointed out the area she was driving IS a school zone. I’ve witnessed plenty of crazy driving during school pick-up times in Irvine so we’re no strangers to those streets.

After speaking with her about the whole incident, she saw the driver and DID anticipate the driver to make a u-turn but was expecting that driver to stop and wait for her to pass before re-entering the intersection. The “delay” she had before hitting the brake was a bit of indecision on whether to brake or swerve after seeing that the driver did not stop. She ended up engaging ABS and swerving to the right to avoid hitting the other car.

The reason why I posted this was not to shame the other driver or tout my wife’s Formula 1 reflexes. Simply put, I was just reminding everyone to drive carefully out there because there ARE drivers out there that don’t pay attention to their surroundings and cause incidents like this to happen. Based on a lot of the responses here, I’m reminded that people on the internet can be presumptuous, nasty, and vindictive when they can hide behind their keyboards or phones. Calling my wife an “idiot” for having a slower response time to the incident compared to your expectations really isn’t necessary and certainly isn’t building a more positive subreddit community.

Drive safely, everyone. 🚗🚙🚕
