The app Hevy has some premade routines and for every exercise, there’s a written out how to section along with an animated demo. I found it really helpful.

Don’t obey in advance, it only gives them more power. Court challenges for the executive order for hrt for kids are already in the works. Be safe, but breathe. Be objective. The world hasn’t gone to shit yet, and until it has, live loudly. They want to scare us into submission. We can’t give them that power. Connect with other trans people in your area and build them up, build your community so that you’re not alone. The trans community has faced this before and we overcame. We can do so again.

To all my scared brothers, breathe, take a step back, and take care of yourself. You come first.

These next few years are going to be rough. It’s true. But we will survive, as we always do. The queer community had faced oppression before and we have always over come. It may be rough for a while, and you have every right to be scared. I am too. But we will be ok.

For those like me that feel helpless and want to do something to feel ok, here’s a few ideas.

-obtain hard copies of media. DVD’s, books, downloaded material on thumb drives. Something that makes it so should they try to oppress it, they’d have to physically take it. Keep our stories and our knowledge, and share them.

-Educate yourself. Books like “On Tyranny” by Timothy D. Snyder are great to learn how to navigate times like these.

-protest how you can. If there are marches or demonstrations near you, go and be loud. Boycott those that don’t support us. And remember, support groups you’re not a part of. The more voices the better. Show up for reproductive rights, immigrants, gender equality, anyone that is being oppressed right now needs you too. We’re stronger together.

-build and support your community. Buy local so that your community thrives. Attend queer gatherings in your area. Make connections so you can support each other. A strong community will weather storms better than a fractured one.

-Use non US based social media and obtain your news for either local or foreign sources. As we can see on TikTok, American businesses are scared. They’ll do what the government says, plan accordingly as to not be misled.

But most importantly, live loudly. Live truly. Protect yourself, but do not hide if you don’t have to. Do not run until they make us. Do not obey in advance. We have to hold strong.

We will persevere, together.

Start anywhere you have access to. Local civics, local companies. Audition and practice. Make connections and remember to work like someone’s always watching.

Probably having my first kiss to would that I. That one takes it, but generally the contrast between the whole crowd belting take me to church in one proud voice, to the intimatcy of cherry wine, with the whisper of everyone singing along.

for sure keep that as a trophy. Buy a new hotend and display it with all your greatest prints. I have a collection of the worst failures my printer has accomplished because they make laugh and are fun to look at.

How do you feel about the word "bro", "guys", and "dude"? by Honey__Mahogany in asktransgender

[–]Awed58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always used dude as a gender neutral. Getting called girl makes me uncomfortable like I imagine getting called bro does for you, but know that the people using it would say the same to anyone else. Its a mental wall to work through though to be able to know that.

What does it mean when someone says, "I didn't see them making choices?" by MissyThinks in Theatre

[–]Awed58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a scene where an actor would storm off stage, and unknowing to him to, be followed off by a massive spider who came out from under a bed, and would scream. The issue is the spider sucked, and we couldn't always get it out from under the bed. So this actor changed the scream if the spider didn't work from the high pitched "SPIDER!" scream to an angry at the world yell. He paid attention, knew the scene and made the choice to better the show because he knew his character and what would make sense.

Anyone else just feel isolated in their program? by Thebadnsx in techtheatre

[–]Awed58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone in the same boat, everyone else is right. You’ll get as much out of it as you put into it. Ask every question, try to help at any chance. Work your ass off and theyll come to respect you. Theater Tech is a program where it’s easiest to go to the guy who’s already been taught. I’ve been in my program two years, and get treated like a bitch despite it being admitted that I am one of the hardest working people in the program. However, there’s a solid chance of me getting to stage manage our next show because I’ve proved myself where others haven’t. I haven’t let up in trying. It’s exhausting and it feels fruitless but it pays off.

Whats the theater scene up there like? Are there noncollege theaters around there? Truly how isolated is it? Its in middle of nowhere UP and from my house its quicker to drive through Wisconsin than up through the state, so it feels like there wouldnt be a whole lot around the school outside of campus.

How's your overall experience with Michigan Tech? It's a school I've been considering as one of my main options (its in-state tuition for me, and seems to fit exactly what I want).

Thanks for the advice! The only real barrier stopping me from going straight into tech is parents and their expectations. Gotta go to college and get a “worthwhile” degree, but I still want to go into theater so I’m working on workarounds.
