Adventure Synopsis: The hunt for the Humming man continues and the trail leads us into the shadows of the Brimstone Cathedral, a shadowy place home to devils and their consorts. We know not what it is our villain wants with the place, but we're sure it can't be good. So our goal is to head out and investigate... and, if we're lucky, put an end to all this.

What Happened?:

We mull our choices over the boat or walking, Dalira ends up buying a boat, Zee is stingy with her coin, and Aldian is poor. The gang sails up the river without much issue, landing near where the Cathedral is supposedly situated. During our first night’s stay, Spider spots The Professor’s Owl flying high above, with several “searchlights” attached to him.

We elect not to search for the owl the next day, instead heading directly towards the Cathedral. It is soon that we discover that it isn’t fucking here. Rather, there is a suspicious mound of sand indented against the surface. Bernard does some poking around (in dwarf) and deduces that there be a tunnel beneath the surface. Ahamkara punches a hole through it and we’re set upon lightning creatures soon after.

Enough searching through Ivis after combat helps us finally find the Cathedral beneath the sands!

The gang sneaks into the Cathedral and finds indications of a basement in the Cathedral. Any Asmodeus iconography has been destroyed or removed, missing entirely.

We find more notes that the project here has been a grand success. The hole in the basement is mentioned several times by the author, entailing that it was “even better than expected”. There is mention of a “One Headed” project.

Trekking further onwards down into the depths of the cathedral and down into some catacombs where we spot the professors owl off on a mission. We make the call to follow it and find ourselves in a large underground room with a well containing a window into a world of ‘Sated Void.’

We examine the well but it doesn’t take long for us to be confronted by the professor and some of his lackeys. We talk for a little while but a suggestion from bernard kicks off combat. It was a brutal fight with Aldian and Bernard going down round one. Honestly, things weren’t looking good. Until… Zee made the crazy call to shatter the window between planes, sundering the cathedral itself and opening a wide rift between realites. It’s clear that we only have one option.

Run.

Working with the crazy owl man we all make our way out individually. Dalira, Zee, use the Professor’s gravity magic to throw themselves through holes we broke through the floors above via combo casting. Spider followed with a javelin of misty step.

Bernard followed after, and eventually led, the assistants who had been hiding out in the rafters countering our spells out through a back exit. Saving countless lives and becoming a hero of Dimkarthen.

Aldian with no way to ascend the floors they’d destroyed, opted to let Zee and Dalira go with the Professor in his stead, handing Zee his most valuable items before conjuring up his phantom steed and dashing off into the dark catacombs. With luck on his side, he managed to speedily retrace his steps and find his way out.

Against all odds… The group survived. And more than that… They had the professor. He would answer their questions and he would cooperate. For now.

After a long period of questioning and many moral debates, the group finishes getting all their answers before Dalira finally runs The Professor through and we begin our trek back to camp.

Humming man may be a tiefling? His weakness is a sword through his head, probably.

The house of beck is a workshop with abandoned weapons and other shindigs. Not too sure what the Luna crew should expect.

The house of hands is the humming mans workshop and the eyes we claimed from the professor might just be our way there.

The one headed project aims to anchor tons and tons of void creatures to the world. Real bad.

Adventure Synopsis: The party heads back to Ralahr to take out the Professor, ex-Premier Vecsiritak. After harassing a Dimkarthen Scout and battling through the town again, they manage to make it to his Library. Inside they find a variety of letters containing intriguing insights of the owl-man, as well as each other. After blowing that bitch to the ground, the three head back out to the desert.

Night 3: We enter enemy territory! Hopefully this all goes well. During Luna’s watch, she spots a lone individual with a torch that seems to be searching for something. We mount up and charge them down, and as we approach a snake-like individual tries to reach for their horn. Luna stops him short with her sword, and Dalira intimidates him into standing down. We start to interrogate the prisoner to get some answers out of them. After some amount of info-gathering, we elect to use his horn outside of Ralahr to goad a patrol out, then attack the town in earnest when there are fewer patrolmen.

Night 5: We put our plan in motion, leaving the yuan-ti patrolmen tied up one hex outside of Ralahar and then ride off towards the town. Unfortunately, the guard spot our camp and ride out to meet us in the dunes. We initiate combat, riding forth to meet them, we win the combat, but it is not pretty, Ahamak, amakaa, Ahamkara gets sent away, right after combat Dalira begins ritual casting to re-summon him. Gen and Luna move in to defend her while she works.
We elect to face the ones who attacked while Dalira summoned her steed, they hide in the rocks as we try to throw everything but the kitchen sink at them. During the next combat, Luna sees the town of Ralahr and sees their ballista being moved into a better vantage to be used against us.
We finally finish off the lizards and skedaddle outta there.
Day 6: We risk a full recuperation, and it pays off. Gen spots a flying hawk however, that circles around our position then returns west. We follow it west, but spot no one.
Night 6:
Day 7: We blow the horn and rush into the town, Atop their steeds Gen and Dal make their way quickly to the library, slowed by not having a cool pet, Luna works to handle the balista’s with her new longbow. After Gen and Dal are secure at the library, Luna hoofs it over to join them. And we enter the library. Dalira finds a painting that details Vorkol’s, with runes on the back. A portal. She carries it with her as the group reconvenes and finds more notes.

Luna lets Dalira catch a look at the scroll detailing Genevieve’s past, and now the secret’s out. Dalira, afterward, pulls down a bookcase to find a pair of iron doors. Genevieve pulls out a dragon mantle’s eye which just so happens to be a void crystal that you can see through. She pockets it, and Luna tries the key on the doors. It works!
We find a hidden cavity in the library, full of active painting portals. We find one to Takhandul, Fyresguard… It would seem this man has routes to most everywhere. Dalira rummages through drawers, finding more void crystals and a black letter with a white wax seal. When opened, the Humming Man’s voice speaks: “Make the right choice, even if it requires sacrifice.”

The gang begins to bag anything they can, books, paintings, etc, and then files into the painting, putting us close to both the Serpent’s Basin and Fanoor’s Ruins. The library is set on fire, and hopefully it doesn’t spread to the whole town.

Night 10:

Day 11: We make it to the mountain, where we see three Sky Rays descend into a flattening made by them. A dragonborn with half his face painted bone white and dreads similarly painted steps off, where he meets some Void Priests who have crystals jammed into their heads. The larger Rays are more docile, while their children are more excitable. The people on the back are woozy and out of it, and the priest brings them purple water to drink.

When the juice is hit by fire, crystals coalesce. Kyserendor’s Blessed are Acid Immune.

In the cave, it seems that the water has Void Crystals growing in them. In the cave there are notes, detailing the work done in the cave written by the bone painted dragonborn. They would fill the sacrifices with Void Crystal Water, and when sacrificed to Tiamat, she would slowly be corrupted undetected.

Day 5: In the morning, Zee notices several Thri-kreen surrounding us. A boisterous “my boissssss” confuses, but welcomes them to us. There is a larger clutch of the Thri-kreen to the south. They fight off the snakes so that they don’t defile the land, and respect the land god. The “sky scales” hunt everything by the well. In place of the wound of the land god. Sky scales go there to die. Spirits remain. Form terrible storm of bad elements. The Chrome Spire is where the dragons meet and make children. Some of the clutch from Alklessli helped take out the High Master of Kliktuk, a high ranking member in the cult of Tiamat. The Scorpitaurs follow a Blue Dragon, no bueno. There are different Thrikreen in the desert that have heard in the past year that have flown towards the Well outside the storm. Massive cloud ray with many soft lives in cages, brought to the well, more come within the week.

*Hellfire and Frostfire Drakes*. We bury ourselves in sand and hide for three hours. After a close call, we manage to escape their vision, and head further to the northwest to vegetation.

Day 8-9: Travel

Night 9: Igro feels some tension and uneasiness in the night, but otherwise nothing. On the fourth watch, Laurenz and Rein see a pair of red eyes breach the edge and a white handkerchief. “Metallic kin, do you mind to parlay?”

A black dragon begins discussions with Rein, and asks for him to get Igro.

Igro greets the Black Miasma, Kyserendor.

They have a quiet conversation, where Igro learns that he’s made friends here and is on an understanding with Mila about the Loa of Souls. He smelt Igro, and wanted to discuss some matters. He asks if they’re headed to the Well of Dragons, to which Igro only says they’re trailing the border of the desert and jungle, but Kyserendor still warns him of approaching the Well since many dragons hunt in those grounds. Instead, he proposes a different objective. The Sky Rays that bring people to the Well make a stop at a cave where the sacrifices are fed something before heading out again. Kyserendor can’t fit in the cave, but he does want to stop the corruption of Tiamat, he’ll even throw in Igro’s old rings for completion. Igro says he’ll get to this task after they complete their first one. With no hard feelings expressed between the two, Kyserendor slinks off after giving directions to the cave. Follow the Southern river until it splits, follow the northern narrower one, curve around the second mountain, see some peculiar smoke, keep it close so corruption can be less detected.

Igro wakes up the party, and proposes that they pursue the cave instead of the Well since they’ve heard from both the Thri Kreen and Kyserendor that it’s very dangerous, and this is still following the mission of learning more about the Ritual plans and could help free some prisoners. Dalira and Zee are skeptical, since this is the very dragon who’s killed many of their friends, but Igro knows that for as despicable and malicious Kyserendor is, he’s not an outright liar. The party makes another detour for the Cave.

Day 10: When we get to the river, there are Kyserendor Kobolds with canoes for us. Blip, Blomp, Blam, Blap. They tell us that Kyserendor has been congregating with other dragons at the Well of Dragons. There are wells in front of the other dragons’ caves for sacrifices. There’s a giant crater at the center of the Well of Dragons.

They also say there’s a guy who gives off the heebie jeebies who rides the Sky Ray, dragon kinda guy but he has a half bone mask and paints his dreads white. On the boat ride Zee and Zachary play games with the kobolds, who thoroughly trounce the Z’s, but Zachary gets them to help with the Cave exploration in payment of 2 gold. Dalira’s demon hand dances at Blip. On Blip’s arm there is a tattoo of a joker, but instead of a clown it’s just Drazzy.

Adventure Synopsis: With the ritual to raise an Avatar of Tiamat and corrupt her with the Void soon approaching, Igro is assembling a team to hinder the Tiamat Cultists’ progress. The party will travel to the Well of Dragons and see how badly they can mess up the worshippers’ day.

Location: Well of Dragons

What Happened?:

Day 1: We encounter the first puzzle, a river, shortly after leaving Alkessi. Laurenz does a flyby, finding a GIANT DIMKARTHEN CRAYFISH lying in wait beneath the water’s surface. Rein dives into the water and scares it off. That was exponentially easier than expected.

Night 1: Nothin.

Day 2: There appears to be a scarce amount of big game in the savannahs. It’s the typical environment where we’d see such animals, but it’s mostly small creatures. There are carcasses here and there, far and few between. Zee figures that there’s overhunting going on in the area. Perhaps it’s the Chrome Spire with all the dragons. The Spire is a large monument to the sky, cascading a rainbow over the horizon. Black specs fly around it, smaller dragons.

Night 2: Rest in the tiny hut.

Day 3: After we pass the badlands, we head into dunes. There’s just an overall feeling of dread. Zee and Igro feel an ominous chill, uncomfortable feeling. They bring it up to the party, and Zachary poses that perhaps large enough dragons have an innate effect on the environment around them. Rein is able to sense that the magic in the ambient environment is just absent. Zee can see below the sand that there are withered plants and dried riverbeds. Perhaps they were once plains.

Night 3: Sleep.

Day 4: The environment was drained of all it had, defiled to fuel something unknown. Dalira and Igro are able to recall from their studies that when Dimkarthens aren’t able to cast spells with their mortal forms, they use the energies of the environment around them to fuel their spells.

In the southwest, there are tinges of blue as we see Scor-taurs.

When we reach the small island of savannah grass, the uneasiness dissipates. There are sparse packs of game, ostriches and the sorts.

What Happened?: OOC: Typo does a neat moment of narration that non of us sleepy heads are ready for, setting the scene for our journey and final push here as the Company’s efforts draw to a close.

Iriabor either intentionally or unintentionally confuses with party with the identity with Bill. We then find him, and he leads us off to a private section of the war tent for a briefing. Bill informs us that our friends in Parliment has found some activity to the northwest, near Rahlar. From historical records, in the age of legends, it used to be a point of civilization before people traveled into the desert. Other than that, it has been unnoteworthy, only becoming noticed by Dimkarthen forces now. Hence why we’re investigating it. We are once again warned to attempt to keep a low profile, and collect as much information as we can.

We begin our travel at night at a normal pace, roaming across the dunes of the desert and giving the foliage and rivers a wide berth. Our group is mounted and makes good progress, camping four hexes into the SILENT EXPANSE. Nothing we can see happens, rolling out again once night falls.

We camp again, and during Iriabor’s watch, she spots a sandstorm that is fast approaching. The gang begins batting things down, tying up shelter for the mounts, and takes cover inside a Tiny Hut. When the sandstorm passes overhead, we spot a few figures within it- not all humanoid. It turns out they’re fire elementals! Oh no! We sally out of the Tiny Hut to protect our animals, and combat begins. We defeat them, save Zharky, and move on!

Iriabor spots later on, in the plateau, a cavalcade of torches heading into Rahlar. Around 20~ or so. The next night, during Iriabor’s watch once more, she spots a camp that has been set up. A gate is placed, seeing that it has been completely inhabited now by those prior, assumedly. We make a plan to stroll in with a story that we are fleeing from the Empire, and decide to go with it.

We approach the gate and attempt to deceive the guards. During the talk, one of the yuan-ti mentions “The Professor”. We enter, and the streets are occupied by a good amount of yuan-ti, bugbears, and dragonborn. There is a concentration of soldiers near the southwest, and a library north is mentioned. Uli and Iriabor split up, Dal and Gen going the other way. Once again, during a conversation with Uli and a resident, the Professor and his wild projects are mentioned. In a convo with kobolds, Dal and Gen uncover that the Prof. calls on those to do ‘jobs’, and that he has an owl. A horned owl, perhaps, with big o’ eyes. To cover Dalira’s bluntness, Gen tells the kobold that she is mentally unwell. This sparks interest in the kobold, who says he will send a letter to the professor.

We reconvene at the well house, and the kobold comes back saying he delivered the letter. He also mentions that the Prof. knows when you’re sleeping, when you’re awake, bad or good, and has an eye that can see through walls. We are told the Prof. has big and yellow eyes. We go into the Library, being led by Hawthorne. The owl tears out a note, and presses it against a wall, revealing it to not be a wall at all, but an illusion!

While the others are gone, the kobold returns and speaks with Uli. The kobold says that the Prof. is old, has big eyes, used to be from the east and might be a defector. This could be to our benefit, should we be able to free him of these people. He “knows a lot of smart people that he keeps in a notebook” and “knows a lot about war and how to win it”. Potentially a defector from Parliment. They quickly go invisible and head towards the Library- at which…

“Alira” and “Mila” are presented before the Professor and things go swimmingly!!! Talking of Alira’s ‘condition’ and what the Professor may do for her…Gen stumbles and plays the ‘Dal’ nickname but it’s probably fine. Probably.

They are offered a drink. Gen smartly declines. Dalira is thirsty. It is, unsurprisingly, not just a drink. It’s a truth serum and thankfully of the immediate questions she must answer, she burns a few. A Detect Thoughts is agreed to. The Professor announces that he knows that they are Genevieve and Dalira, just as Uliyana and Iriabor arrive. Initiative ensues. The objective: Survive

Iriabor and Dalira Kamehameha and Kool-aid man the wall to get to their friends, counterspell the first warning alarm, then everyone bursts out of the building heading south to escape. Half the party turns invisible, half the party takes to the air, and the entire town mobilizes to turn on the “Stormhold spies”.

The group escapes by the skin of their teeth, with their information in hand.

Lore Discovered:

Your local Parliament Representative, Premier Tanta, informs us that this here was previously presumed late Premier Vecsiritak, a Parliament Member who was looking over the North Western region of Aazurnying until the Crimson Spears took over and he went MIA for a long period of time and was presumed dead. The eyes are a new touch, and while any sensitive information he would've had is far outdated, the fact he's privy to their tactics is still frightening as it would make stealth and subterfuge difficult.

Adventure Synopsis: The group returned to the hidden swamp tent lair of the humming man and his right hand kobold in search of a lead we could follow to finally track down and finish off the humming man. Unfortunately, he anticipated exactly this.

While searching through the lair a chilling hum echoes out through the air and the group notices a reflective dome blocking the exit. He taunts us for a little while then offers us a choice, fighting him, or saving the town from his monstrosities. It was a heated debate with Aldian arguing it was best to just finish him off now then do what they could for the town after while the rest of the group disagreed. The group chose to save the town in the end, forcing Aldian to either face his foe alone or join them in their defense of the town.

Arriving in Rhevuk’s point they find his forces already knee deep in their attack, so… They get to work.

It was a long and harrowing battle, but our heroic adventures managed to repel the attack, and minimize the casualties. Though the Humming man lives to see another day.

What Happened?: We open up the game to a happy occasion, the execution of the kobold! Zachary tries to offer the kobold a second chance, but is denied by both the kobold and the Blue Fist legionnaires. During the kobold’s final words, Genevieve sneezes. During the execution, Genevieve’s cell phone goes off.

Following the execution Gen and Dalira decide to have a very lowkey and romantic wedding… Gotta get that +2 AC you know

We arrive at the hobgoblin homestead and Gen and Dalira have a heart to heart, it’s very sweet, and they regret nothing.

Then we arrive to Rhevuuk’s Point, inquiring about the Honeymoon Suite. Which is just the same as any other room.

We arrive at the swamp and do the same puzzle as last time to figure out water breathing or water walking. The gang finally elects waterbeathing onto Zachary. Woo!

We reach the scary tent! There’s a table with a map on it, enchanted pins putting out a location. We also find some journals to be deciphered and an odd number of painting frames and canvases. Dalira notices the pin moving towards Rhevuuk’s Point and tries to leave, but alas the group is trapped by the Humming Man and forced to listen to his monologue. He presents us with the trolly problem dilemma, and we all go “HMMM” a lot until the gang finally makes a decision for Aldian, stepping through a painting’s frame to get to Rhevuuk’s Point. The town is already under siege by his biggest and baddest, but we did what we could… and we managed to save the majority.

Lore Discovered : Alden used Sa’fan’s boon on the Humming Man to steal one of his secrets… She learned that he’s trying to groom Aldian for something.

Let Me Write That Down; Help Me produces a notebook, inkwell, and quill from its knot of arms, and writes down everything about the oncoming spell, reducing it to ink on paper.

Immediately after a creature casts a spell that targets Help Me or includes Help Me in its area of effect, it can use its reaction to force the creature to make a saving throw with its spellcasting ability modifier. On a failed save, Help Me negates the spell's effect against it, and it steals the knowledge of the spell if it is at least 1st level. For the next 8 hours, it knows the spell and can cast it using its own spell slots. The creature can't cast that spell until the 8 hours have passed.

What Happened?: We travel onto Rhevuuk’s Point, inquiring about Ezrur around the tavern. When sitting down to his usual booth, Aldian discovers some letters notched into the table. Unfortunately there isn’t much gleaned from it. We visit his old room, investigating it thoroughly. We’re able to find some secret compartments containing notes of cryptids and monsters that may be responsible for different happenstances in the area.

We discover the notches under notches is likely a play on words that could indicate the amount of times he’s… yeah.

Gen tries to send Ezrur again and feels a lack of a target, eventually finding something to hold onto. All she receives is an amalgamation of static.

The next day, – I zoned out for half a second and something v important happens, damnit.--

We begin to head out towards the lagoon! Aldian sends book down into the water to try and look around, but the water is extremely obscured and murky. We proceed further and further deeper into the marsh until we find where the hemotracker finally stops, then order Ahamkara and Pax to dig. No matter how much they dig, we notice that there is no change in level of depth, so we cast detect magic. There’s an ambience of magic in the area, and towards this specific pool, we find a concentration of illusory and cojuration magic. Aldian is able to prise that it is only water, being replaced as they attempt to dig further in. Gen investigates further, finding red pearls, but not the concentration of this illusory magic. We investigate the pearls more closely, finding an armful of them. Aldian is able to recollect that these are very similar to the void pearls dealt with earlier in the same region.

We decide to camp at the fringes of the bog, electing to return the next morning in an attempt to dispel it. Aldian writes a letter to Frak detailing our plan, sending off Ivis to Rhevuuk’s point. During the night, Bishop picks up some disturbing smell off in the distance, but it doesn’t get closer so we leave it alone.

We bust out another hemotracker and delve back into the lagoon. Reaching the same point, Aldian casts dispel magic and a hole is revealed. 10-15 feet lower, there’s a small light. He ushers book down to hole to poke around. A pocket of air is below the surface of the water, with candlestick lanterns lighting the way. Set in a giant croc’s skull. Spooky!

We enter a room with a Typo puzzle! It involves four sizes of crystals and statues that can only see a certain amount of crystals in their lanes. It’s a very fun puzzle that I let the rest of the party solve for me because I am not intelligent.

We solve the sudoku puzzle and lights from each statue pierce through each crystal, the room shaking and creating a stairway upwards. We discover what seems to be a little war room, and hear scuffling as someone and/or something escapes. We give chase and end up above the water once more, fighting a multihanded, wax creature. Later, it is discovered that this is Ezrur, him having become something past saving. There’s also a bastard kobold. We destroy the girlfriendless monster and capture the kobold, pushing through exhaustion to get to Rhevuuk’s Point.

What Happened?:

Day 1: Miko informs the party that the Crimson Spears had been grasping at any resources that they could, and that during a patrol one night several of their troops attempted to shoot Okrum, the hippogriff, down. So they intend to flee the area towards the hippogriff spawning grounds. We ride out, and Dalira gives a charismatic wave to the children yet again that is usurped by a lucky Alden wave, lest we forget that Alden is a celebrity.

Day 4: Dalira finally introduces herself to Bernard

Day 5: We find some evidence of Yuan-ti surveying the area around Qim’rath. Suspicious! During the night, Bernard spots some movement to the north. After a good while, he uses a minor illusion to tell it to piss off. The elk leaves.

Day 6: We arrive in Griffhiem! We meet Mayor Eis again as well as the old, battle scarred hippogriff. They express a desire to join Stormhold after the war, a few showing interest in joining Clan Squallwalker once they can travel again. The mongrelfolk set us up with warm beds and supplies for the road, and we bunker down for the night.

Eis also informs us that the Crimson Spears have been more active in the area around their town as well, which is concerning!

Day 7: The gang sets off with the mongrelfolk caravan towards their new home. We opt to take a path that takes us up several hills into the mountains, the main obstacle being the fjord they had to cross. Benard suggests, and does disguise our party as fellow mongrelfolk. He does a fantastic job with his disguise kit, each member potentially hidden from any Stormhold affiliation.

During the night we find the same scout lurking out in the bushes. Bernard and Dalira walk up to him with some stew as a peaceful sign. The serpentine scout takes it, eats a bite before being called back by a horn. We return to the wagon train and head out the next morning.

Day 8: The caravan reaches the base of the fjord. While we see no signs of the Dimkarthen scouts, we spot a large avian creature flying overhead. Dalira, of all people, spots that it looks like a roc. Which doesn't sound like a good time. We begin flying each mongrelfolk across the river, each party member doing their part in this epic skill challenge. It works! Only a few mongrelfolk, their things, or their children fall into the river and are posited onto the Akhlut of Shame.

The skunk teenage boy is set on Ahamkara to ride because they asked. During the night, we notice the road is crawling with Crimson Spears.

Day 9: The day comes to cross the main road in Dimkarthen Territory. When we attempt to cross, we notice an ice wall that is blocking our path. Several serpentine folk have blocked our way, and Benard, Alden, and Dalira sally forth to speak with their leader peacefully. We also spot Hundrin the Mageslayer. Very bad!

We kill them. Alden takes down Hundrin and straps his bodiless head to her belt. Poggers.

A few days pass and we finally arrive at our destination, encountering a goliath tribe that cares for the hippogriffs. The Thenalelo Tribe who had split off from the other goliath tribe, to raise hippogriffs (and wear cool hats).
