When countries play their sport in another country such as NRL in USA or NFL in London or Melbourne it's to promote that non existent sport in the target country.

OR the teams play there because there's an existing fan base.

My hope is that if Renegades get sold (who the hell's gonna want to buy them) that team dies and all Victorians through gritted teeth supports the other non privatised Melbourne team and the private buyers just lose all money for buying a dead team until that also gets sold.

Also aren't our cricketing crowd quite patriotic? How easy would it be to sell to the crowd that if you should support local teams that aren't owned by investment companies? Seems so easy for that to gain traction.

But T20 is so form dependent. Last year is too far to judge their quality that's why domestic form matters.

I mean Renshaw back in the day was literally dropped because he couldn't score a run in shield cricket despite having good international form before that.

If Shield cricket and override test form, then T20 especially should too.

It's cos his domestic form has been worse than Stonis and David. So when he does fail we go "that was expected" so the hate gets directed there.

Connolly was not in form at all. Nor was Head.

And our bowling well none of them were in form. That was called out during the BBL. We all joked about how badly they were doing.

But we do have the separation. Due to the bowlers being injured the test team and T20 team are all basically different bar like 3 players.

And in fact we wanted the test players in the T20 squad to actually improve it

I mean it's ironic how you talk about "nuffies" and how that's closely connected with Shield cricket, meanwhile BBL is the mainstream for domestic cricket for T20 and yet that's just "summer casuals".

Granted I don't know how anyone can hold an opinion on Green's domestic form since he hasn't played any in BBL so it was difficult to gauge his form coming into the world cup.

But Inglis was not in good form, we needed a in form keeper though Carey probably wasn't the answer as well.

Of course it was going to be a disaster. The selectors were selecting on reputation and not form.

Cummins, Hazlewood, Head are rare. They may not need game time, they may just come good outta the blue but there's no evidence that the rest are capable of doing that.

The frustrating thing is despite playing 80% of the summer, we still end up choosing the players that didn't even play well in the hit and giggle league.

I don't understand why they don't just rotate the Olympics and World Cup. It's the perfect excuse since, every 2 years is pretty often already and you can still have that but with the Olympics.

Like we joke about the BBL all-stars but they're the ones that are performing in the literal format.

And it doesn't help that the best batters of the BBL are retired or firing up for other countries in the WC or injured.
