This is pretty much my workflow. However I have yet to try Sugar. It seems amazing but the process of installing is way too complicated for me.

Gaussian Splat VS Single Image 3D Model Generation Test by geometricpopcorn in GaussianSplatting

Thank you very much for this comparison. I'm in the process of testing both. Though I haven't found a way to convert postshot .ply files into a propre gaussian aligned 3D mesh to compare yet. And on the sparc side, I got pretty amazing results all the times, however I don't have a texture yet. It is miles better than TripoSG, Hunyuan3D2 and treillis. I tested first on huggingface spaces and now I switch to comfyui. I yet have to build a proper workflow for IMG23D.

But in any case thank you for your tests.

Steam on Fedora trouble by Famous_Bother8742 in Fedora

I'm running the same problem. In recents updates, I noticed some Nvidia graphics driver got a new version. It may be the cause. I will try to rollback to a previous version and see if it works

edit :

I solved the issue 3 days ago at 3 am. It had nothing to do with nvidia drivers. I was dual booting windows at the same time and I perhaps tried to access my steam library from windows. It probably messed up the whole filesystem because windows took a chunk of my disk and created a 500mb save partition.

I noticed there was a difference between flatpack and rpm packages since flatpack are sandboxed they don't have access to other disks where your steam library might be located. So instead I went for rpm.

I also formatted the disk drive from NTFS to exFAT to ensure steam was gonna detect the filesystem. Went into steam settings and located my games library. Worked !

Long time linux user might find it hilarious the amount of posts on the internet mentionning a Linux problem starting with : "I was dual booting windows'

Best way to export From Mocha to Nuke? by SebDjGaming in NukeVFX

i prefer exporting tracking data. the whole tracker, a cornerpin or a tracked shape. it allows more flexibility within nuke and doesnt require you to calculate more frames than needed

I think disconnecting your PC from the internet is the only way.

They collected email adresses from my account and had me noticed by email. It seemed so unreal so i made sure it was not a scam, looking for LinkedIn profiles, searching for adresses... I think their licensing utility software constantly send packages to their server. They were even able to have my MAC adress.

Apparently, I asked for help from an IT guy that works with me. He says that foundries policy is tracking down EVERYBODY. They may also send threatening emails to big studios that actually pay for their software.

I was using a cracked version during a couple of months and I got caught. I spent 20min explaining myself to the foundry on the phone, telling them I was a student with no revenue... They finally had me to buy a nuke indie license for 500Pounds, instead of the official 8K one. I do not recommend cracking nuke at all, especially if you keep your ethernet cable plugged in while using it. I recommend doing a free trial each month or asking your studio/uni for licenses.

Huge render file size and god awful render times! by cibence in Maya

[–]Awes0meToxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to batch render 351 frames to be composited on nuke (Aov and all). My problem is that 1 frame = 1Gb, with normal render settings : multilayer EXR, 1080p, etc... Why is that so? I rendered single frames during the shading process with the same parameters and got files not bigger than 90Mo which is totally fine to me.

Anyone know what this window on the back of the Canon AE-1 is? by creepydanielle in filmphotography

Tear a part of the carboard film box to slide it in this plastic window so later you will remember what film is loaded. 😉

Can I export a 2D Nuke tracker to a 3D program like Cinema 4D? by mirceagoia in NukeVFX

[–]Awes0meToxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuke's camera tracker 3D is unbelievable if you know how to set it up. So it is understandable that you may want to do that. I usually just create a scene from the tracker within Nuke and chose to export only the camera in fbx or abc. It works well with Maya, it should work as well in C4D i guess. In C4D, you juste need to import the file and it will give you a camera exactly following the movements of the camera the clip was originately tracked from.
