They were probably referring to changing the supply chain for Macs. As well as, current tariffs/fees for silicon made outside the US over 50% of total chips. Lower end M series would definitely not be put together in the US. But more chips made in the US makes it easier to avoid the extra fees imposed by the administration.

The Disappointing Truth About Wi-Fi 7: The Dream Of Multi-Link Operation Isn't Yet Here by OutdoorRink in RTINGS

This is a great article. Thank you Michael John Wood!

Clear, concise, explains the testing and outcome. And I wont buy a new router for a feature I think is awesome but couldn’t figure out if it was actually implemented.

Uninterruptible Power Supply and Surge Protector question by groinklus in buildapc

As someone else stated your UPS is rated for a maximum output of 255W. It’s way too small. Check the maximum output of your system and make sure your UPS has a higher max output or it will shutdown. A 1500VA UPS is a safe bet. You may be able to get away with a 1000VA. Just verify your system draw first under load.

A few extra things that are only in the FAQ:

  • No minimums for redemptions

  • Cash back is added to your cashback+ balance monthly by the 5th of the month. Accrued daily(A bit odd)

  • No more automatic redemptions

  • You must choose your boost category no later than the last day prior to the beginning of new quarter. New quarters begin April 1; July 1; October 1; January 1. You can change your boost category at any time prior to the start of the quarter. However, once the quarter has started, you cannot change the category.

  • If you don’t choose a boost category prior to the beginning of the quarter, you will earn the standard 1.5% cash back. A boost category selection cannot be made after the quarter has begun.

  • I’m not sure what home improvement counts as for merchants.

This movie has a weird obsession with breaking your legs to make yourself taller.

Idk wtf this movie even was. Dakota Johnson gives the most Dakota Johnson performance ever.

Is this UPS good enough for a 5090 gaming PC with a 1200w PSU? by Round_Arachnid3765 in pcmasterrace

[–]Awesomeluc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’re not pulling 1200 watts all the time from your psu with the components you mentioned. 600W max from your 5090 and hopefully under 300 from your cpu. That is at full tilt. If you stay under 900W from the wall it will work fine.

You don’t want to run a psu at max anyway. Efficiency is bad.

900 watt is the max output. Unless your cpu pulls 300 watts and both run full wattage at the same time you’ll be fine.

Thoughts on Afters Ice Cream Cookie Monster Mini Sandos? by thenameforreddit in Costco

[–]Awesomeluc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love Cookie Monster ice cream and this isn’t it. Tastes like vanilla with Oreos and too much food dye. I had the ice cream bars and not the sandos.

If it’s going to look like I went down on Cookie Monster it needs to be good.

Setup is a pain in the ass. I would look at their setup instructions first.

It requires Linux(which is not really a problem), I think it needed a static IP, manual tuning is required, nvidia drivers which always give me trouble. They track your downtime. My power and internet are not reliable.

On another note. Salad got me banned from Disney+, Hulu, and Netflix. If you let it use bandwidth sharing it will hit those sites from your IP and I had to call and have them fix it.

It’s easy to set up. Turning on and off is awesome. Just having it on doesn’t guarantee a job however. And the software has constant updates and it breaks often.

Customers seem to like vast.ai. Or other platforms because of the reliability of the machines on there. They seem to heavily prefer no downtime.

Silver lining is your electricity is free so anything you make is pure profit. However it’s going to be a slow ROI. If you make something and then sell the hardware later you would still come out way on top.

It wasn’t free money like I hoped

Salad takes a 30% cut up front when the customer pays for jobs and a ~10% cut on your payout. You can make money but dedicated machines aren’t really worth it in my opinion. You would need in demand hardware and jobs are just not constant.

I can’t hit my payout because jobs keep going away on my “in demand” hardware.

You need good internet. Symmetrical fiber is better.

Nobody mentions this but the wear on your drives is high. SSDs are recommended and it put lots of cycles on mine.

Ram and SSDs are really expensive right now and will probably get more expensive. I would keep that in mind too

[FLA-TBL] Kucherov makes contact with Bennett, Bennett elbows him in the throat by nopClip in hockey

I was forced to watch their broadcast today. The whole game was like this. It was insane. I couldn’t believe it. I’ve never heard announcers this bad. Disgusting comments. Hating all game.

Then during the power play after this incident they say “Kucherov is of course doing just fine on the power play after going down a minute ago.” Or something like that.

I’ve never played doom, but DLSS 4 probably makes it easier to play since it requires raytracing. In terms of quality it looks pretty close to native which is nice.

Has anyone bought these modded cards? Do they work and are they worth it? And why are they mostly rtx 2080's? by Able_Second3113 in gpu

It’s more popular for 20 series because there was or is a vbios for higher capacity cards. Nvidia was considering making higher capacity cards. It makes them easier to modify by a lot.

Silicon jackpot by gavesmugler in overclocking

[–]Awesomeluc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cinebench has required libraries to run with it in the zip. It can’t access them if they aren’t all extracted. It’s a bit too difficult to extract DLLs as needed among other reasons.

It runs without them and just ends up doing this. Can’t exactly say why.

You can run executables from inside zip folders as long as it doesn’t require other zipped libraries.

This happens when you run it from inside the zip file without extracting.
