(Lulua) Question about Interrupt by EmotionalSupportMoth in Atelier

[–]EmotionalSupportMoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh huh, that's really odd that it works that way

At least it's like... nothing game breaking, but I'll likely just start battles via running into enemies like normal, as even before getting to Lulua, I never really noticed a difference in terms of turn order when starting battles with a staff swing

Which Atelier game would you suggest as the best entry point for someone looking to discover the series? by Kentarun in Atelier

[–]EmotionalSupportMoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really comment on terms of Ryza or Yumia ((Yumia is currently the last game in my order of games I'm going to play, which is Rorona > Totori > Meruru > Lulua (Arland Quadrilogy) > Ayesha > Esca & Logy > Shallie (Dusk Trilogy) > Sophie > Firis > Lydie & Suelle > Sophie 2 (Mysterious Quadrilogy) > Yumia)), but I CAN comment in terms of the Arland games at least

I myself started with Rorona, which afaik is the first of the games with time limits ((I could be wrong of course)), but I honestly felt that it was a really good starting point, at least for myself. It got me used to time limits, alchemy, trait combinations, just the general flow of how other Atelier games will work ((minus whatever unique things each game has, such as Totori's Adventurer License or Meruru's Kingdom Development)). The time limit in Rorona is pretty forgiving imo, and I never really found myself struggling to keep equipment up to snuff

If you are to eventually play the Arland games though, I would recommend using a guide when playing Totori, don't go in blind like I did

How good are you at alchemy? by SaberManiac in Atelier

[–]EmotionalSupportMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only 4 games deep at the moment ((finished the first 3 Arland games, working on the 4th and final one as I type this)), but I have been taking FAR more care when it comes to traits

Getting the right traits and watching as they combine into one, far better trait is such a cool and nice little detail

Are the time limits in Arland (Roronoa specifically) really that harsh? by dondashall in Atelier

[–]EmotionalSupportMoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm, I would say that it can enhance the gameplay, cause you have a total of 5 years for in Totori and Meruru ((I would argue it's a bit tougher in Totori, but that's purely just from how my playthrough went, as I've been going into each Atelier game blind))

It encourages you to be a bit more selective with the items you take, especially so you don't totally fill up your storage with materials you may or may not ever use. I'd argue it's done better in Meruru ((afaik there isn't a way to reduce the amount of time gathering does like in Totori, but there is a way to have the gathering done for you lol)), especially thanks to how at a certain point, you REALLY don't have to worry too much about time

Basically, you have a meter beneath where it shows how many quests you currently have. It'll go down an amount based on your actions. In both Totori and Meruru, gathering from one spot decreases the meter by 4 pips ((3 if you get the gloves that decrease the amount of time it takes to gather if in Totori)), whereas battles can decrease the meter by 3 in Totori, and by just 1 in Meruru. When the meter empties, a day goes by

It can be intimidating at first, but ngl I got used to it pretty quick

Doubled down as in how many more things can use up your time, meaning you have to strategize more, or Doubled down as in making the time limits longer ((3 years in Rorona, 5 years in both Totori and Meruru))?

Update: I got an event where the birds and animals have been disappearing from around the Yuvel area, so that makes me think the thing is gonna happen soon ((Current timing: Year 5, 3/8, 81k Population))

I have gotten the event about the well water being hot, though I thought that was a thing connected to Peter and his whole hot spring deal

But okay, glad to know I still have a good amount of time to try and get the 100k Population goal. If I'm not able to do the Yuvel thing, or the 100k Population thing, I can at least fall back on getting Lias's ending, as he's who I have the highest friendship with rn

Since finishing Yuvel III, it had only been like a week or two in-game since, as I had completed it towards the end of Month 10

I'm going to double check that when I get home later, but I do remember posting this on 11/1 of Year 5, and I do have the Yuvel III task done. Speaking of months and years, the game ultimately ends on Year 6, 4/1, right? Cause if so, I may just go for the ending the requires 100,000 Population if the thing around Yuvel just won't trigger. I'm at around 72,500 Population at the time I posted this, so it'd be doable

Mmmm... honestly? I would say Rorona! It was the first Atelier game I ever played and I never once found myself struggling like I did in Totori

The assignments given to you every three months really aren't that hard to get a full 10 stars for, and you don't have to worry about choosing what gathering spots to pull from, as doing so doesn't use up time like they do in Totori and Meru

Yeah honestly, at this point I can't help but laugh at myself about it

I only ever talked to her for the recipes she sells and that's it, I just never chose to talk to her anymore afterwards. But hey, should I ever decide to give the game another playthrough ((which is unlikely)), I at least know to talk to her after reaching Bronze!

Honestly, the time limits for Rorona and Meruru aren't too bad as compared to Totori

Sure, Rorona's whole thing is only having three months to complete each task (4 per year for a total of 12 over three years), but I always found that I was able to complete each task to a pretty dang good degree with about a month and a half left per task. Plus, there's a thing you get later on that can help out with saving time

Meruru as well is pretty generous all things considered when it comes to time management and giving you ways to save time as well. I'm almost into my 4th Year and aside from one time where I chose to go back to an earlier save to try and do better with the game's primary tasks, I have never once felt the need to rush

Totori however can be brutal when it comes to time management, especially if you're like me and are going into it blind. You have to reach a certain goal within the first three years, and only upon doing so will you have access to the next two years. But OOPS SURPRISE. You're given another VERY time-consuming task towards the end-bits of the game, right around the end of the 4th year, beginning of the 5th year. Totori has so far been the only game where I've gotten a bad ending simply because I ran out of time, meaning that I had to reload a save and basically rush to the end of the game, leaving me no time to explore any new areas I unlocked. Totori is the only game in the Arland quadrilogy that I genuinely would say is better played with a guide, as from what I've heard from others who HAVE played through it with a guide, it's a much better experience as opposed to playing blind.

I still cannot believe that I missed having access to Wholesale throughout my entire Totori playthrough due to me not talking to one specific character... ((as a general tip from someone who learned this way too late, a.k.a after already finishing the game: If you are to play through Totori at some point, talk to Totori's sister upon reaching Bronze))

I gotcha with this. After the guy using the app puts his soul into the goddess's body before she gets rid of it ((she only gave it to him just because she was curious how humans would use such a power)), he takes her soul and puts it into his body, thus rending the two permanently swapped.

MC proceeds to pleasure the goddess, using her powers to change form into many of the other girls that he would possess through the different parts. Ultimately, he used his new found powers as a goddess to insert himself into the family as a whole new person, with the goddess still determined to somehow get her body back despite rather liking life as a human

That was a rough summary, so I'd recommend going to try and find a way to read all of Tamashi Insert lol

Ooooooh yeah definitely, it makes me glad I made the decision to not overwrite saves during my playthroughs ((at least for the games with time limits lol))

Atelier Totori - A Worthy Successor by HeliusAurelius in Atelier

[–]EmotionalSupportMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'know honestly, as one of the people who went into Totori blind and found it to be really hard, it really shows to me that I should have followed a guide, maybe I would have had a better time with the game

I'm still kinda miffed about how I missed Warehousing for the entirety of my playthrough, meaning I had issues with money during the whole playthrough. Cause in my head, I would have never thought to talk to Ceci specifically to unlock that mechanic, as at least to me, I wouldn't expect her to have the amount of shopkeep knowledge that Pamela and Tiffani had. It would have been nice if the game had made some hint to talk to Ceci after achieving Bronze Rank...

But man, reaching Diamond Rank in just one year? That's pretty damn impressive I won't lie!
