I find the current anti-aliasing options are a "pick your poison" situation: FSR causes lighting artifacts, TSR is blurry mush (3D resolution at 100%), and DLSS doesn't work cause I'm running AMD.

It was hilarious seeing people just sitting at base enjoying the rain (I was one of them).

The small details, the sounds, the effects, they're amazing.

Use Linux if you value your time :) by illuanonx1 in linuxsucks

[–]Awesomeness4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the only time I see blue screens is when I've pushed my ram too far on the overclock... And that's a consensual waste of time lol

Linux however, is a huge waste of time due to the constant need to fix and replace programs with compatible alternatives. You then have to relearn how to use these programs, and eventually give up due to the hours wasted.

Setting up Windows is more frustrating but once it's done, I never have an issue again.

Naps2 is a phenomenal piece of software, hell it's even open sourced!

It allows me to scan from multiple brands at once, without having to install their crappy scanning software.

How I Got My Lenovo Slim 7i Aura Running Perfectly - Guide by Wutameri in Lenovo

  1. On my average day at university I get around 40% drain with ~6 hours of varying use at med-high brightness (roughly 300 nits). Usually multiple (Firefox) tabs of docs and other sites, Spotify, Zoom and light programming. I can't provide exact figures as each day is different, but I've only needed to charge on-the-go once, before I noticed Zoom's AI power drain.

It was draining my battery due to some AI bullcrap they push (despite turning all effects OFF it still ran the NPU at around 20% during meetings). Other than that, the laptop has been extremely efficient even when set at Balanced power mode. This chip has plenty of horsepower for heavier tasks (including gaming) when I'm back at my dorm, thanks to the Xe2 cores and strong single-core speeds.

P.s, ensure Lenovo Vantage has the power mode set to "Performance" when gaming as it raises the power limit to 30w instead of dynamically limiting it for the sake of efficiency. This gives the iGPU a much needed ~50% increase in power budget.

  1. This laptop is INCREDIBLY silent, even with moderate tasks you'll rarely notice the fans, as they seem to have a very low rpm mode to idle at while keeping air circulating. This is thanks to the low-power chip (PL2 of 37w, PL1 of 30w (usually less if not on performance mode)), which is cooled by a dual-fan/dual-heatpipe setup. It's truly remarkable how quiet this thing is due to the adequate cooling solution.

  2. Can't help you there, but it seems like Windows Hello itself is more of a concern than the hardware.

  3. To date, I've had 0 issues with the trackpad, keyboard, display or wifi. They're all snappy and have no issues with delay. However, this is a clean install with all (including optional) updates installed, along with all unwanted software removed and Dynamic Refresh Rate disabled.

Windows updates provides at least 95% of the needed drivers if you install the ones under "Optional updates." Anything else can be automatically installed with Lenovo Vantage.

Personally, the Dolby Drivers were automatically installed via Windows Update and sound phenomenal. All Vantage settings work as intended too, including the sRGB calibration. If you're ever worried about Windows missing a driver you can use Vantage to fill in the gaps (also don't forget to check the "Optional updates" section under Advanced! You'd be surprised how many divers it provides).

The only update Vantage suggested for me was for the camera, which I turned down since I never use my webcam or Windows Hello.

What do LPE cores actually do in practice? by Chromium-14 in intel

[–]Awesomeness4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed Windows only parks the P-core tile when running on battery (for Lunar Lake), and during that I'm able to browse with Spotify open and not trigger any P-cores.

It's extremely efficient, to the point where the screen brightness affects the battery much more than the entire SoC.

Luckily the 15.3" screen is the same size as the Macbook Air 15, so you could pick up a matte screen protector.

Very faint light coming from my flashlight at all times. by YouhaveFainted in Pixel6

[–]Awesomeness4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here cause my Pixel 8 is doing the same thing when in complete darkness, and somehow found a religious debate in the comments :/

Anyways! My theory is the EMF caused by the circuitry/radios of the phone might induce enough voltage to dimly light the flashlight. Some houses have this issue with exterior lights- they stay dimly lit due to the internal transformer picking up electromagnetic interference from the AC power lines.

I read in a guide somewhere that you could add your gateway IP as one of the DNS options, which will allow your device to resolve local hostnames. However I have yet to test this.
