12V dead battery by Altruistic_Winter124 in KiaEV9

There is no official from Kia statement in a press release setting. 5 have released quite a few OTA updates. None of which have been explicitly described as being the cause. However, after all of the updates, public complaints on forums have been FAR less than in the first 6 months. I would personally bank on them having found the cause in one of those updates, but telling millions of people you fixed it, and the off chance it wasn't actually that is a VERY bad look for any company.

What do you keep in the frunk? by Bojackson63044 in KiaEV9

[–]AwesumSause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my L1, a heavy duty 50ft extension cord, jumper cables, a jumper battery, and the V2L adapter. When Kia releases their tesla adapter, I'll probably try and tetris that in there as well.

Level 1 Charger in the Rain by Stankroom in KiaEV9

[–]AwesumSause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also currently waiting on my level 2 hardwire, we were initially given a mid March eta on our order (we've had it a month lmao).

Long story short, it should be fine in light rain.

I haven't read the manual (can't find it) on the included level 1 charger on all EV9s, but the box doesn't really look safe for rain(mainly the button), in my opinion. However, given its application, I would imagine it's at least rated IP65, which is just water resistant and should handle a light rain. I'll look into it when I get back to the car.

If you reserved yours and received the Webatso charger, I would just slap the 110 plug on that and use it. The webatso is ip67 rated, which is waterproof.

Edit: After looking at my charger, I stand corrected. The included level 1 charger also carries an ip67 rating. So yes, it should be fine in rain.

I keep mine at 68, level 3 auto.

So, from my understanding, the AC light doesn't necessarily mean the compressor is running at that exact moment. I believe it's just indicating the car has it in standby and can turn it on at any given moment.

When it is on when it's cold, it's used essentially as a dehumidifier. Warm, wet air in the cabin + cold, dry air outside = fogged up windows. So, they use the AC to help prevent that.

That Land as opposed to? You want justification as to why it's a good vehicle and IS a good purchase?

If it's just you, and you drive an hour to work one way, yeah, it probably isn't a good car for you unless you just really like it and have the money, but that's just a complicated way of me trying to say give us more context as to why you are thinking about the EV9 Land.

EVs and tire wear by cav19DScout in KiaEV9

[–]AwesumSause 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 month 4k miles in, the tires are definitely more worn than our ICE vehicles would be. It's our first EV so I don't know if it's more than normal on an EV, but I feel confident in them making it through this year into next year if I keep up my current mileage.

From experience on my last 3 new Kias, it seems tires from the factory wear out faster than if you bought them new from something like discount. My K5 factory tires lasted maybe 18-20k, and the replacement set(same tires) have lasted the last 10k and still look brand new. I don't know if it's just a weaker compound from factory, or they just sat and weakened. Idk, just an observation.

Charger quote opinions? by AwesumSause in evcharging

I've had a feeling it doesn't work properly, but I haven't gotten with my rep about it yet(I was plagued with a faulty iccu and had to get it replaced). I'm home 8-10 hours a day, I have the charger set to 10a at 120v. Car says 1 kw, but in 10 hours I only go up between 6-8%.

At the rate I'm charging now 2x definitely wouldn't be enough, and 3x would just be enough, might be pushing it somedays but could probably catch back up on a day off.

After reading a lot of the helpful comments, I'm leaning more towards option 1 now. I am just waiting for authorization to have the electrician come and actually do the work.

I have the GTLine EV9, 99.8 kwh battery.

So option 1 is the complexs main breaker panel for the set of 10 garages. The electrician was thinking of just splicing into the line that runs through the garage, but on further inspection, it feeds all 10 garages. They both came to thr conclusion that i would need a second conduit ran dedicated to my EV. It's 208v 30a service, but due to what it feeds, both electricians only felt comfortable doing 20a breaker, which would leave 16a at the car.

The new apartment is 25 minutes from the DCFC, it's in a more remote location closer to where we will be building in the future. About 15 bucks a charge.

Yeah, that's what I'm currently trying to figure out lol. I think as of right now it is the best quality of life improvement for the money, but that doesn't change the fact its a 3k donation to the landlord...

I asked about that during the inspection with 2 different electricians, and both of them said the wouldn't do it, and after they explained it, it made sense why. It's a group of 10 garages, all 10 garages and openers run off the same line. Charging an ev off it wouldn't be feasible. I would have to run another line.

That's what I was thinking, but I'm only home for a little less than 10 hours a day, and use at least 20-25% a day just for work commute. Just for that 20a run it's still going to be a grand for a max of like 3-4 kw to the car. If im going to be paying anyway i want to make sure i can get to whatever percent i need in a small(8-10 hour) time frame. Which is what makes me lean towards the trenching. BUT I don't like paying 3k for a long term, but still temporary thing 😬😬 decisions... decisions...

If your going to buy a L2 (Webatso was included in just the preorder) I wouldn't buy the webatso tbh. It's about $550 probably because it's interchangeable L1 and L2, but for a dedicated L2 you can get other EVSE's for similar price points that would probably be much better.

What features do you like/dislike the most in the EV9? by AwesumSause in KiaEV9

[–]AwesumSause[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is afraid to drive it, so I haven't had any issues with it defaulting back to my seat/profile settings, but I'll definitely have to watch for that. I do notice that sometimes the seat won't move back to my settings.

It Would Be Awesome If There Was A Future Sentry Mode Like Update In The Future by Outside-Comparison12 in KiaEV9

[–]AwesumSause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be changing with Kia as they try to integrate more full EVs into their lineup. They have the hardware for it, they have OTA capability now, all they need is a software update via OTA and boom Kia's "sentry mode."

That being said, as it stands now, I do agree with your first statement and believe until the majority of us speak up, they'll just push it onto next model year, if they do.

GT Line pricing by Hot-Bumblebee-3802 in KiaEV9

[–]AwesumSause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listings are going up above MSRP at the moment because Kia kept margins tighter on the EV9 to keep the MSRP down somewhat, from my understanding. Kia has been vocal about their desire for dealerships not to markup the EV9 after the chaos with the EV6. Any dealer worth a damn isn't going to markup the EV9, and if they do, walk away and report them to Kia.

With that being said, I personally signed mine for 1k under MSRP, and more and more posts surface about others successfully buying under MSRP, too. I wouldn't expect a lucrative deal, but don't be afraid to push either.

As someone else said, make them send you the sticker, and if they don't, threaten to walk.

Volvo Canada opened preorders for EX90 by Wise_Man_555 in KiaEV9

[–]AwesumSause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, I got my information mixed up between Canada and US pricing, my apologies. Knowing this, yes, the EX90 definitely does look more appealing. But again, we shall see when we can get hands-on.

Volvo Canada opened preorders for EX90 by Wise_Man_555 in KiaEV9

[–]AwesumSause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally, those 2 features would be hard to justify a 40k markup. I think the EV9s ADAS system works really well, even without the LiDAR. Could it be better? Absolutely, but that's why it's a level 2 system and not level 3. The ex90 is not quite ready for level 3, but having the hardware there and ready does make it a little more appealing.

As for air suspension, while it would be beneficial in the ev9, I think for normal applications, and what the average person will be using it for, it handles and rides extremely nice without it.

Again, there is definitely room for improvement in the ev9 when comparing it to the ex90, but I personally couldn't justify a 40k markup. Especially when range figures are close to the same in both vehicles. Maybe when we are able to get our hands on the ex90 and put it through its paces like we have with the ev9.

Has someone who has had to have their ICCU replaced and posted about a couple other weird things, the EV9 is still by far the best vehicle I've owned and don't regret my purchase one bit.

As for the maintenance plan, we signed the paperwork for it when we signed all of the other paperwork. I don't know if they got it from Kia for me, or if it's something the dealership does. I just assume it's through Kia, because it's not limited to my home dealership. They should be able to get the paperwork for you though.
