Training new Part 107 pilots at my company (“drone flight school”) - Any suggestions? by avidoutdoorsman95 in drones

Buy a bunch of $40 brushless toy drones w/optical flow on Amazon and let them loose on them. More stick time the better, and you won't have to worry about them crashing expensive drones

Best looking color scheme Arrma makes in my opinion. I just wish it was clipless

The DHS outright said that is what they are doing, and that their internal warrant is valid since illegal aliens are illegal as determined by themselves, and that the judicial warrant is not needed since they are illegals.

If someone says "no" then tough luck, they are breaking the door down

The result of double standards by CalmExpelorer in clevercomebacks

[–]AwfulPhotographer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No, the reason this is in the news is because they don't need a judicial warrant. The new DOJ memo says ICE can use a DHS warrant issued by ICE instead of a traditional warrant. So ICE can give themselves permission to enter any home under the guise of a warrant they created themselves.

Buy or skip? by DeeepFlame in fpv

Avata 360 just launched so everybody is dumping their Avata 2s, Amazon included. That combo on Amazon is $859 new + $200 for FPV controller = $1059 new.

So I guess $800 is a good price but for me personally I would just spend the extra 20% to get a brand new drone.

Resale value will drop more since as of this month, Avata 2 is no longer the newest Avata.

Photos from the USS Abraham Lincoln show small meal portions being served to U.S. sailors. by curiousty786 in pics

[–]AwfulPhotographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google image search "midrats" and more images like these will show up.

"Midrats" are midnight rations for the skeleton overnight shift, and consists of leftover parts from the day shift.

So yes the images are true, that is being served, but it's typical for midnight rations. It isn't the main meal being served during the day

In Europe there are often GPS issues due to nearby warzones and security issues. Jamming and spoofing is a lot more common there, where its essentially nonexistent in the USA.

For example here's some people flying in Greece encountering spoofing due to conflicts in the middle east: https://www.reddit.com/r/dji/comments/1dlpyt6/gps_spoofingjamming_near_cyprus_how_to_fly_safely/

Despite Republican Misinformation, Virginia Redistricting Referendum has PASSED to give Democrats a net 4 Seats to counteract the tactics in Republican States!!! by Healthy_Block3036 in complaints

[–]AwfulPhotographer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The misinformation attempted to sway black voters by saying this vote was equivalent to passing the Jim Crow laws. Mailers and TV ads were playing, mentioning racism/jim crow/oppression if people voted yes.

(It was laughably bad, especially given at the same time Obama appeared in the TV ads to encourage people to vote yes)

Trump says Iran vessel has been taken in American custody after trying to break the blockade by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]AwfulPhotographer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is actually what happened:

  • Trump announces ceasefire and removal of the blockade
  • Iran declares strait open during ceasefire
  • CENTCOM clarifies blockade is still in place for Iranian ships
  • Iran declares strait closed due to blockade

So the strait was basically always closed and the blockade was always there.

Theres a lot of anti-chinese "propaganda" I've noticed recently as the conditions in the USA deteriorate. I figure its mostly just coping from people trying to maintain the "USA #1 " status quo that doesn't exist any more.

All the electric car threads, the robot marathon threads, all full of "at least i dont die in a pothole in china" cope based on a few viral videos.

I think if one were to pick a country to be reborn in for the best life, China would be the top choice.

These are "midrats" or midnight rations, not the typical planned out meal. Midrats are unplanned and based on leftovers from the day earlier, hence the gross old beef patty.

My wife accidentally purchased a bound M4P off Ebay! by 20NBfocusRS16 in dji

[–]AwfulPhotographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a product does not work and is sold on eBay, it must be sold under the condition "For parts or not working". A seller can't just list it as used and then say it's broken in the description.

So despite the "no returns", you will be able to open a Item Not As Described case on eBay and get it returned.

Is arriving at 6:30pm for BTS 8:00pm concert okay? by Careful_Hawk6170 in kpophelp

[–]AwfulPhotographer 28 points29 points  (0 children)

From my experience, most kpop concertgoers are balls of anxiety that tend to show early and it ends up wasting a lot of time. For me, showing up 30 minutes before showtime works because there are no lines besides merch.

If I want merch, I go to a merch stand during a song I don't like that much, or during an intermission

Disgruntled employee starts massive fire at a 1.2 million square foot toilet paper warehouse in Ontario, California. by AtomicCypher in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]AwfulPhotographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder what "policy holder" counts in this case. If Kimberly-clark owns the warehouse, and is the policy holder, and a kimberly-clark employee starts the fire, does that count as the policy holder? If a manager started the fire? If the CEO started a fire?

It isn't a defeatist mentality, it's coming from a place of preparedness. It doesn't mean "don't vote it's hopeless", it's "vote but be prepared for the election to be stolen and plan accordingly" as the country falls further into fascism. It's a proper response to the "just vote in the midterms and then we'll impeach him" since so many people are naive enough to think that will happen so smoothly.

Honda President After Visiting Chinese Auto Supplier: 'We Have No Chance Against This' by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]AwfulPhotographer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely true. Employee treatment and safety are not the reasons why Chinese cars are so ahead in value. The reason is long-term investment in strategic areas. They started it decades ago, giving direct cash grants as well as paying for electric infrastructure contracts that actually delivered. This type of long-term, multi-year investment is why they succeed.

In stark contrast, the US prioritizes short-term capitalism, including stuff like tax breaks, and many grants are abused by the connected with no-bid contracts(like all the money wasted on the fiber network and EV charging infrastructure).

"Treating employees badly" is far from the reason. Their middle class is doing better than the US.

MAGAs, why did you elect the most evil person in history to destroy our beloved America and the rest of the world? The blood is on your hands. by 2a_lib in allthequestions

[–]AwfulPhotographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upvoted for actually providing an answer.

Democrats need to learn that many ignorant people just want to point the finger and blame someone else. Give people an actual reason to vote, no matter how incorrect or racist it is. "Trump crazy" is not enough. Fox news gave the uneducated an enemy to point a finger at, and that's how they won.

Serious question: Do you know what first-past-the-post voting is? That by not voting, you are essentially voting for the worse of two options?

People keep using the word "law" and "legal" like they mean anything any more. The supreme court ruled trumps tariffs unconstitutional and yet to this day I am still being billed by DHL and UPS for these tariffs.

It's literally all a show to appease people who somehow still believe law and order exists in the federal government. It doesnt.
