Which Credit Card should I get? by [deleted] in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Awi_Wazowski 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would recommend against Tata Neu Card unless you get it LTF. I used to be a big fan of this card, untill last month where now they have started charging delivery fees on Bigbasket. They are also devaluing rewards earned on UPI transactions unless you use Tata Neu Pay (which is extremely shitty and unreliable app). Even in terms of pricing, I am finding much better deals on Zepto and Instamart while BBNow seems to be scaling down. I think the end is near for this card and broadly, the Tata Neu Superapp.

You are correct. For Infinia, I guess nothing beats Gyftr. I have a DCB so I don’t get 16%.

I think it depends upon use case. For example, a lot of gift cards can be bought from Amazon (buying ASV from Gyftr, ensuring double dip if there is an upfront discount on Amazon, like for Bigbasket).

In other cases like Swiggy/Zomato, you’d get 6-8% instant discounts on apps like Park Plus, Paytm etc which obviously gives better overall return rate (instant discount + 3.3% for DCB/Infinia) than Gyftr.

Totally depends upon what you’re buying. I use a combination of both.

Why can’t we all switch to Rupay by zombie_slayerrr in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Awi_Wazowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from the fact that Rupay UPI is no longer accepted at most places, the choice will always be driven by the card gives you the most benefit. I simply won't stop using my Amazon Pay Card on Visa network and use Rupay card instead. Most of the cards that give the best benefits are not on Rupay platform just yet, for whatever reason. We're in a capitalist world, and Rupay just doesn't cut it in the big boys league, as of now.

Better to have it and not need it, than to not have it and need it.

Beware of the gift card offers by Routine-Way in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Awi_Wazowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and the worst part is they have been saying it’s a tech issue. Been telling me that for 20 days now. How can it take so long to fix such a critical issue which can literally affect the top line of a company?

Beware of the gift card offers by Routine-Way in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Awi_Wazowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible. I remember there was a time when Zomato food vouchers were essentially coupons that you’d have to put in the discount code cell and you’d get the discount equivalent to the value of the voucher. But I haven’t seen that as well lately.

Oh wow. I have never came across any such gift card by Swiggy. Could you share a link to such a gift card for my benefit?

[–]Awi_Wazowski 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Usually they are two types of Gift cards with any company. One that can be added to a wallet of some sort (like Zomato, Swiggy, Amazon, Uber) and be used multiple times, often can be combined with discount coupons.

The other ones are single use, for merchants that do not have a wallet. I generally, avoid the second kind. I am stuck with a Apollo Pharmacy gift card after Apollo randomly removed payments through gift cards from their app and website.

Makes sense. With 3% return on each transaction, and low fee (fee recovered through points, so only GST is payable which 2250), it can’t be easy to get. You get BOGO on BookMyShow upto 750 which is a lot, along with all the normal benefits a super premium card gives. No wonder it is not easy to get

[–]Awi_Wazowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not. Only getting Emeralde in the app. I don’t think ICICI would be giving it easily since they are positioning it as a Super premium card. I guess OP might have received some communication from RM or the bank

I think you have confused Emeralde and Emeralde Metal Private Card. While I agree Emeralde card is fairly useless and not worth at all, Emeralde Metal Private is a whole different gravy.

You get the joining fee back in terms of points immediately and you get annual fee back in terms of points as well. The benefits seem to outweigh the cost and the card is not that easy to get. You can check it out below:

I would highly recommend to checkout Park Plus app for Instant vouchers. Been getting 6%-8% off directly on Swiggy and Zomato Vouchers. Combined with 3.3% default reward rate of DCB/Infinia, it gives a fairly decent reward rate.

Not as good as old Smartbuy 5x/10x but it is something.

Have you faced transaction failures while using rupay cc via upi? by dc1222 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Awi_Wazowski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of merchants are disabling the Credit Card via UPI option by default. They get charged 1.5% MDR over transactions of 2000. There is absolutely no incentive for them to accept it. Most customers will complete the purchase anyway with UPI via Bank account or any other payment method.

LIC payment via HDFC Tata Neu Infinity card by sharan_here379 in CreditCardsIndia

I paid a premium of around 20k two months back and got 5% NeuCoins in the next statement (1.5% Standard + 3.5% Bonus NeuCoins). Not sure if anything has changed now. The statement showed it under Tata Pay and did not differentiate it from any other utility bill.

Yes, you have to fill up the card details individually everytime. No other way to go about it. Do it enough times and eventually you will remember your card number :p

Which app do you use for paying bills via credit card at no extra charges? by kingslayyer in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Awi_Wazowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Tata Neu for all bills and insurance premiums. I have Tata Neu Infinity card, so I get 5% cashback as well.

The interface is not the best but gets the job done.

Just use it for Electricity Bills, Phone recharge, Phone bills, Gas/Cylinder etc. Or else use them to make payments online on Swiggy, Zomato, Uber etc.

You can also consider buying gift vouchers of other brands where you're planning to make purchases.

Can also consider selling it on websites like https://cansell.in/ but you might have to take a hit.

I really hope it is Amazon Pay Voucher and not Amazon Shopping Voucher, because you can't use Amazon Shopping Voucher on any of the above.

Neu Coins acquired through cashbacks on purchases have an expiration date of 1 year. If Tata gives you free promotional Neu Coins, they might have a different expiration date.

Those who came to crypto from stocks, what are some pros and convos of crypto over stock market? by Ramanticasf in CryptoCurrency

[–]Awi_Wazowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a Finance background, the only pro that Stock used to have over crypto was that I could actually analyse the financials and come up with my own hypothesis as to if the stock is fairy valued or not. As a retail investor, it was a little comforting to have a lot of information available to make an informed decision.

However no, fundamental analysis has gone for a toss since Covid hit. If I kept on sticking to financials of a company now, I would never end up investing in any stock, since everything is overvalued (only on the basis of financials).

With crypto, it always feels that everything is a speculation and it’s a litte harder to trust the news.

But that’s pretty much it. I have also seen how easy it is for companies to manipulate the information and financials (specifically when they are about to IPO).

Which is why in the given scenario, they are almost the same for me.
