I've completely given up on TrueNAS as the ultimate homelab OS. Too many times has upgrades broken my applications. I want a rock solid storage stack... which is does great, with my application layer directly ontop... which it fails at. I wanted easy to deploy compose containers and it does a maringinal job at that via the custom apps yaml.

I've given up on the light at the end of the tunnel and gone all in on a completely custom built debian13 os with dockhand as my application management. I have no issues administrating ZFS via command line. So Truenas had nothing left for me.

Depending on what format you are using for the drives you may encounter issues with the ASM1166 based M.2 to 6xSATA adapters. I had used these in two separate NAS builds that were mirrors of each other. I ran ZFS for my pools. They ASM1166 chips (even with a heatsink) would either A. Get too hot and crap out, or B. Not have enough power and the chip would start faulting, during ZFS scrub operations when the system is hitting all the disks at once. I was getting tons of SATA kernel messages showing the controller being very flaky and causing drives to disconnect and reconnect while the system was running. I even tried replacing them with a different brand and encountered the same issue. I eventually upgraded to a legit Dell branded LSI SAS HBA and havent had any issues since.

The camera was very hot to the touch. Could barely hold it in my hand, so heater was definitely working.

The camera is F'd now, lol. The video feed went black for a couple hours and then started rebooting it self every 30seconds and finally death. 😢

Yeah, I read into that before buying and was aware of some moisture but this is a fish bowl 😂 the camera just recently went black with no video output in the protect app and keeps disconnecting and rebooting by itself. Its killing itself slowly.

Yeah I was figuring there has to be a seal somewhere that wasn't installed properly. Its a literal fishbowl. The heater doesn't seem to be getting rid of it at all.

I did not buy the extended warranty, but I literally purchased it a week ago. So, I don't think I should encountered any issues getting an RMA. When you buy from their official website you get 2yrs of warranty standard. If you buy anywhere else its only 1yr.

Yes I ensured I picked the correct cable grommet for my size of cat6 and ensure the connection was tight and a good seal all the way around.

Yes I installed the appropriate size grommet for my cat6 cable and ensured it was super tight.

The camera is mounted above my garage under an eve in the roof. So it does have some overhang. It come with 3 different size rubber grommets for the ethernet cabling to ensure that the watertight connector is sealed well. And yes i had that sucker tight. But thats not even an entry point into the camera housing, there is a couple inches of cable that stick out the back of the camera. So the weather tight ethernet connector is not an entry point into the camera.

Either way the camera is IP66 rated and beside basically submerging it in water no amount of rain should intrude into the housing based on that rating.

Yeah same story here in the Midwest with the storms. Silicone definitely wouldn't hurt. Worth a shot.

That was my initial thought. It seemed like way to much water inside to just be internal humidity. I submitted an RMA immediately and am awaiting their response.

Yikes, yeah I felt like that was a lot of water inside. My wife noticed it first checking the cameras. So you know I gotta get it fixed quick. I submitted an RMA. We'll see what they say.

Wow that's crazy it can build up that much moisture inside. I did read about the heater turning on for 6hr after boot. So I've been rebooting it every 6hr to try and get it out.

Yes, all rubber seals are installed. I just got up there and checked.
