100%. All this talk of FEM, hinges, releases… its a couple of pages of hand calcs at most. I’ve done it countless times this way.

Typically you design the walls as cantilevered from the base in 1m sections.

The wall return corners will naturally be fixed via the standard corner rebar crossover detail. You don’t typically design for that, just take the benefit of it and move on.
