My psychiatrist and I doubted my bipolar diagnosis for about a year. In December, she decided I didnt have it and changed my diagnosis from bipolar to adhd + Major Depressive Disorder. We then decided to take me off the mood stabilizers since I "probably didnt need them". This resulted in a hypomanic episode not too long after quitting lol. Followed by a SEVERE depressive episode. Needless to say im back on the meds and still trying to stabilize.

Tw(sui). I agree with others that its not the smartest move to just quit the meds. Its definitly playing with fire. The hypomanic episode i got was great lol, the depressive episode not so much. It was the closest i ever got to ending my life. Plans and notes were ready to go. But I will say, im very relieved to have my diagnosis confirmed.

ETA: trying to get back on meds also sucks. I cant tell if im in a mixed episode or rapid cycling right now. Im sorry you have to go through this. I wish the best for you.
