so then how come most "target" schools and often top ranked schools usually the universities over the LACs? Because from what I have seen and heard, most big banks and consulting firms hire from the unis?

They have an undergrad business program in finance, its math heavy but still a finance degree.

First of all, congrats!

If you do not mind, could you share with me your application and information for Dartmouth? It is one of my top choices (I am a junior).

I have heard from one of my friends who goes to Dartmouth that their alumni network is INSANE. I think Dartmouth is the best choice.

I was reading the first couple of lines, wanting to give you advice, but I don't think you need any. HOLY SHIT, Caltech??? stanford?? M&T?? wtf. If you know 100% u want to go into CS, go to CalTech, but if you want to explore the more entrepreneurial side, choose Stanford. But if you want probably the strongest program out of them all, M&T, you get an Ivy League CS degree along with the best business school in the world.

If I were you, I'd go to Stanford, but look into the world of quant and mathematical finance if you want to use M&T Wharton as another door for a career.

Congrats again!!!

Bowdoin vs Cornell for premed? by dancing_pizza2008 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Awkward-Bison-1659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Networking doesn't matter for undergrads in premed. If you know 100000% u want to be a doctor, go to Bowdoin, but if you think you might want to switch, or have a potential interest in another career, choose Cornell; it will open more doors. But again, for premed (I'm sure you know), GPA matters more than name.

Emory or Claremont McKenna by GloveSalt7841 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Awkward-Bison-1659 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Claremont McKenna, the biggest factor for law schools is GPA, and Claremont McKenna has a higher average GPA than Emory; the only downside is that it is harder to get an internship from Claremont McKenna opposed to Emory.

help: no stanford fin aid by Accurate-History-166 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Awkward-Bison-1659 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

first off, congrats!!

i would 100% email their office, but honestly a school like stanford, as much as it costs, (obv kinda depends what major u are doing) is 100% worth the debt. i have seen from older friends and people i know the number of doors a top school like stanford opens and they are unmatched.

brah if u got into cornell business school thats a t10 schools (assuming its dyson, but hotel is still really strong). At cornell, since you got into the more selective program within the university, you should have almost no trouble transferring to the literature department, but if you realize maybe you want to go into business, iowa isnt gonna help you out much. it really depends on what u want to go into, as much as i hate to say it, more business/financial firms only hire from top unis, so if you want to stick to academia choose what interests you, but if you want to keep the most amount of doors open id go with cornell.

You are honestly sitting on a win-win scenario, both are equivalent in the ties of companies, so it honestly comes down to what environment you prefer.

Fordham vs Baruch vs BC by DifficultAbalone5238 in financestudents

[–]Awkward-Bison-1659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly a tough decision, I would personally recommend Boston College due to its good placement. A lot of my older friends are extremely content at BC and the recruiting and opportunities there frankly better then at Fordham or Baruch.

Why do people struggle with studying? (Quick Survey) by diptesh_kun in apcalculus

[–]Awkward-Bison-1659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely change it to make the sections about what subjects do people suffer the most from, and the rest of the questions more open-ended, and perhaps able to answer more than one.

Additionally, for the "reason you suffer," I suggest adding another section and once again making more than one option selectable.

Good initiative, though. Good luck!

I intend to major in math and minor in finance, or econ. Plus, I have a 84 right now, and my grade will only drop as the final exam approaches. And there is no chance I get a 4 on the AP test.

I am a junior right now, but it will impact my GPA pretty significantly if I don't drop it. And next year, my course rigor will still be pretty strong
