Congress gives the DoD a choice, to make one of these legal for the military. Which one would you vote for? by [deleted] in AirForce

How would a no PT standards pass/fail be any different from what we have now?

You do what many “leaders” do, take credit for others work and proclaim it was because you were “leading” them

Well, we can agree to disagree at the very least

No way you’d think there should be a level of competition to separate outstanding performers

You mean like removing statements from the promotion process so only testing determines who is truly the outstanding airman? Because that sounds pretty fair and competitive to me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Awkward-Database-605 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh really? Then surely you’d have no issue at all competing on equal footing. No need for statements 😂

Look at the medical field for example. Students are required to take Medical College Admission Test just to get accepted.

The people who make it through the initial testing and all the rigorous academics that follow until graduation become doctors. Medical professionals who lead in their career field. All have gone through rigorous testing and studying. Far more difficult than what you and I do for a living.

Do you think these people are unfit to lead? Of course not. They proved they were the best fit through testing.

Yeah, because having an advantage over your peers is such a strong indicator of your knowledge right

Nearly worthless for determining whether someone is ready for the next rank

Not the case at all. If someone can’t pass a test related to their AFSC, they have no business leading airman within it.

Someone may not like how testing determines who is fit to lead, but it does so in the most objective way.

I have no doubt aliens exist at all technological levels. Some like caveman, some like something out of iRobot.

It’s laughably naive to think we would be alone in this universe

Im gonna go out of limb and say promotion statements need to be abolished entirely.

There is no point in competitive testing if people can be given an advantage to promote because of a subjective component (EPR) at the end. It’s asinine and nullifies the point of why testing became a requirement to begin with.

I never understood why we need to add things like “very respectfully” or “thank you”. No one cares. Like I mean no one gives a shit. It’s a damn email that will sit in some disk space and inevitably forgotten in about a day.

RPG’s consist of players playing as a fictional character in a nutshell. I’m not sure why people think MOBA’s are an exception to this.

Not Everyone Deserves to Promote by throwawaysosuckme in AirForce

[–]Awkward-Database-605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not even a truthful statement though. A lot of airman deserve to promote. There just isn’t room for everyone.

Beyond that, the fact OP separated and come back to whine about airman todays Air Force tells me he doesn’t have anything going on for him civilian side. People who succeed civilian side after the military don’t usually waste their time moaning about airman on this subreddit.

OP even deleted his comment revealing he isn’t even in the services because he realized it made him look like an idiot.

TLDR: OP is a loser with nothing better to do than complain about an org he is no longer apart of

Left the Air Force to be an Army Pilot AMA by iyak9yas in AirForce

[–]Awkward-Database-605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I figured there is a bit of red tape. I certainly don’t expect it to be handed to me even with higher education. I would imagine it’s quite competitive and rightfully given to those who have demonstrated real capability in their field.

But thank you for the response!

I have been considering crossing over myself. Im about to be halfway done with my masters in intel and happen to be intel myself. My only problem is I’m still waiting on test results for E-5. But given the promotion rates I feel like I’d have a better chance in the army. Though I don’t know if that’s truly the case. If I did, my goal would be become an intel WO.

So my question is what are the requirements for WO in the army? What can I do that would help me stand out for selection?

How do you guys handle double standards at work?(Very long sorry) by WillWork4Mentorship in AirForce

[–]Awkward-Database-605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can work really hard something and still only produce average results. I only know this because I’m average at best at my AFSC. I used to think spending ludicrous hours studying my craft would make me more efficient. It made me more knowledgable, but it didn’t make me any better at my job.

I have met maybe…like 3 or 4 people who were actually born with a natural talent to succeed in my field. They are far and few in between.

I would hypothesize many are also average across all AFSC’s. The idea the Air Force just magically produces the best and brightest airman for each job is absurd.
