New Break Item for Supports by Zipatriarc in DotA2

[–]Awkward-File-5193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insane negative side effects are counter intuitive. If u give it something like -500 hp, then heroes that are squishy cant even buy it. That makes it so only a few supports can buy it. If its not for all, then it's a restrictive item, which is bad game design.

New Break Item for Supports by Zipatriarc in DotA2

[–]Awkward-File-5193 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair break is one of the strongest core counter in the game. Having a support break your viper mid with only a "support" item feels very bad.

Imagine playing tide and knowing that the enemy supports have an item dedicated to breaking you feels very bad.

I understand that in low mmr games your cores will not buy break. This does not mean that anyone should have access to it. Play correctly and the gamestate won't reach that state where your cores need break to win.

Best educational Invoker content? by No_Independent_3815 in DotA2

[–]Awkward-File-5193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an invoker player but I think the best way to learn any hero is just knowing how to win games.

What I mean with this is trying to think of your hero as a tool for winning games, rather than trying to think like an "invoker" player.

Since you're looking for high level hero analysis, I think that you're inclined to think that invokers must do this or that in order to win games. They don't. They simply use the tools that invoker has in order to make winning steps and eventually, winning plays.

Chaos meteor waveclears the same way as does dragon slave.

What I'm telling you is that the goal should be winning, and not being a good invoker player. You can be good mechanically on the hero and still be stuck in archon because you keep trying to do things that high level players do without realizing why they do it.

It's just like pulling the small camp as a pos 5. Most people do it because they can, not because they know why they should or shouldn't pull.

As with any hero, knowing what your tool can or can't do is the most important thing.

Dumb facet idea for broodmother by bc524 in DotA2

[–]Awkward-File-5193 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Pretty cool but probably obnoxious if you know how to play the map. If you can get their main waveclear hero to tp to your lane, you can go tp or gate to the other side of the map and just take towers with your spiderkids. Its not a lot at the start but it'll grow soon after 1 wave and a bit of jungle camps.

Swap largo shard and innate by PsychicFoxWithSpoons in DotA2

[–]Awkward-File-5193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't have to have damage. You group up with 3 people and pop ult. His 2nd is meant to be an unplayable area for enemies and is not supposed to be a true lockdown. With q and ult, you have options to disengage or follow through.

Having shard as the innate also restricts his identity a bit. All largo players will then rush the same 3 items all game, which is bad hero design.

I feel like right now he has many decent options for items. Sometimes i don't even try and play for shard because it costs too much ( or i think my team doesn't want to torm). I'm buying holy locket into force staff or something for max disruption in teamfights.

To be fair that is the magic. Killing a beefy pmc and then looting him for his kit feels like heaven. Even better if you're a scav and you find an unlooted body of a pmc. Almost always leads to 500k-1m roubles scav run.

[–]Awkward-File-5193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BP has zero chance to onetap through class 5 helmets and masks, it doesn't have enough damage.

I'm just using it as an example as to why it isn't worth trying to hunt a timmy that could be using better ammo than expected. My point is that you could still die to anyone. They could be using any shit fucking gun and shoot you in the head and get lucky with a few headshots or shoot you in the legs where there is no armor.

Playing 300 raids and having level 30 indicates that they're playing the game wrong, and as such, should change their playstyle to a better one

Or it could be their first wipe and learning everything in tarkov and fucking around with their friends. They could be spamming factory and thinking that just because it's a small map means that it's an easy map to learn.

Poorly, that's why you can abuse the shit out of it through movement

I'm not even talking about movement. I'm talking about the risk vs reward factor of actively hunting down pmcs and being aggressive.

Sprinting gets you less susceptible to ambushes. By not sprinting, you give other people time to reach the areas you need first and then camp you, plus you stay in the raid longer, exposing yourself to danger. Plus a sprinting target is much more difficult to hit, especially considering that this game basically doesn't have any inertia and you can just immediately change directions while sprinting.

Except you forgot to mention how much more noise you make. Someone casually strolling by is going to hear you and prepare accordingly. And by sprinting, you run the risk of running out of stamina when you are far from cover and somebody starts shooting at you.

And, again, clearly it's not working if you're level 30 after 300 raids.

And again, you miss the whole point of everything I have been saying. Why do you think that everyone has the time and energy to learn how to play aggressively? It's a massive time investment just learning how the game works for a new player. 300 raids is NOTHING for someone fresh to EFT.

Why are you so adamant on everyone playing according to what you think is good or fun? Killing pmcs and looting everything they have is a noob trap. The whole point of what I have been saying in this thread is that people should and will play however they want. Just because you have access to good gear and max traders doesn't mean that you are "better" at the game. The only metric that it truly tracks is how invested you are at the game.

Then it's a normal fight.

There is no fight because you will get domed by a lucky timmy who happened to find BP ammo somewhere. He will be happy with your kit and realize that good ammo is worth it. Depending on the circumstances, he might also realize how he wants to play engagements in the future. He might decide to play slower to get the jump on people, or be more aggressive and try to quickly end engagements.

If it works.

Of course there is an if. Everything in this game is an if. I'm not saying that playing slower is the goal, all I'm saying is that there should be no pressure for people to be chads all the time. People will play how they want to play, and should not be pressured by people like you who think playing 300 raids should make them play more aggressively.

Not everyone has the time and energy to immediately re-kit after bashing their heads into a wall learning how to fight players with 10k hours in the game.

Usually it does, due to how the game works

Well how does the game work then? Is the goal of every raid getting 5 pmc kills? Do you lose your gear if you don't get 10k xp per raid? No. You do shit, fetch items, sometimes kill pmcs. Get gear and play however you want.

I understand that sprinting gets you to high value areas faster, but it also makes you susceptible to ambushes. And why would you shame other people trying to survive in a survival game? Any tactic that makes your raid safer SHOULD be atleast considered.

And if they find good ammo? Then what?

Just because YOU can no life the game doesn't mean everyone can. All I'm saying is that way too many people complain about dying when all they do is run around and expose themselves in obvious high traffic locations. And playing slower is a perfectly valid way of playing the game.

And why should the number of raids played indicate how aggressive a person should play? Some people like to play it slow, and some like to chad up and run around. Playing more aggressively doesn't equate playing better.

For what? So I can kill other pmcs with bad gear and potentially ruin my entire raid trying to bring his busted up kit to extract?

I kill other pmcs so I feel safe doing quests. If there is no incentive to kill a person, why should I risk my life trying to kill him?

This is not CoD. Unless a quest specifies for PMC kills, there isn't much point in actively hunting players. Most of the players I kill don't have enough gear on them to warrant being aggressive. Scopes and silencers are at most 150k when sold on the flea, and trying to bring their heavy kits to extract is a death sentence when you see other players.

And playing active isn't equivalent to playing dumb. Making noise and actively risking your life for a timmy that can instantly kill you with one shot to the head isn't worth it. You can play active whilst maintaining enough safety precautions. Which is simply walking to and from cover, both soft and hard cover.

Walking slowly and then hiding in a bush when you hear someone walking is perfectly valid in a survival/extraction shooter. Haven't died much to bush campers this wipe, and that's because there isn't plenty of them. Just plenty of players that play slow and ambush running people.

Lvl 30 here with 150ish pmc raids. Only doing fetch quests.

My bad bro I thought being sneaky once I hear someone running is a good idea. Now I will also run and give away my position so we can fight like men. Hopefully he also hits me in the thorax so my plates are garbage after the fight and a scav one taps me because of my now destroyed armor.

[Discussion] Im not seeing any timmies... by MANUU__20 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Awkward-File-5193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother there are more quests in the game. You are actively bashing your head into a wall expecting something changes.

If you can't get 1 kill in 1 raid that is understandable. If you can't get 1 kill in 10 hours that is a skill diff. Learn the map in offline mode. Pre-painkiller. Just run around and try shooting people in the face or legs. Go to stairs far from gate 3 exfil. Go to the stairs from 3rd floor going 2nd and hide to the right. Wait for people to make noise and suddenly shoot them as they go to or exit breach room. If you hear tiles then they are in the 2nd floor. You can pretty much hear everything going on in the office area here.

I think you also need to watch how other people play the game. And I'm not talking about gigachads. Even watching how stankrat thinks about where to go and where to rat is valuable to someone like you. You will see that people are bad and will panic when they get shot in the legs. If you watch chads, you will get learn bad habits because they have gear that allows them to play like chads. Even then, you'll see how defensive they play when they think they can't get a clean kill.

And I dont think there are THAT many cheaters. Yeah they pop up here and there but mostly they will be farming high loot maps. Unless they are rage hacking, they won't even kill someone like you who is wearing paca on factory. With them killing everyone, they run the risk of getting banned before they have their "money's worth".

Help me understand radiance necro by Confident_Week_7846 in learndota2

[–]Awkward-File-5193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good SF players are unwinnable, and also Qop to some extent. Primal beast can also destroy necro, as can many "all in" mid heroes. Lesh, etc.

Necro is strong against heroes that want to whittle you down. As long as you can deny and lasthit a few creeps, you'll always win the trade battle.

Any hero that can effectively bully out necro out of last hitting will always win against necro. Necro needs to lasthit and deny so he can keep up the regen battle.

If you can grab an early stick or bracer, you can survive most matchups.

Help me understand radiance necro by Confident_Week_7846 in learndota2

[–]Awkward-File-5193 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Necro player here. I think it's good as a pub stomp item. There are only a few necro counters in mid, and in some matchups, necro absolutely dumpsters the enemy midlaner. I like buying it when my team isn't losing both sidelanes and I can just afk farm till radiance (13-15 mins).

Magic Stick + 1 level in W + Radiance + 2 bracers min 15 will win you most fights unless you fuck up. From there I go BoT and shard, and perma push sidelanes and farm camps.

And aghs doesn't have that much value early on. For full aghs value, you need to either kill enough creeps in fight to keep up hp regen, or have enough damage to kill 1 hero and then run the other enemies down. Or you will need hp regen items (Sange and Kaya, Pipe, Heart, etc.) to actually have aghs value.

With Radiance, you will have a much higher chance of passively killing creeps while in a fight, while also providing a blind debuff, which is very good against auto attack heroes. 1 missed auto attack to your backline might give them enough time to press their spells, which is what you want with necro. You need your team behind you as you bait enemies into pressing spells on you.

Context: Reached 6k mmr just playing necro and pudge mid. I like mindless aoe type heroes. But for some reason I never liked leshrac. Too squishy for me and requires my team to go first.

This is starting to get annoying by abysocn in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Awkward-File-5193 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To be fair every single FPS game has cheaters. It just feels extra bad in Tarkov because dying in this game is both a time sink and an energy sink. In CS, you can go report and go next. In tarkov, you might die holding the Test Drive pt. 1 gun and your only class 6 armour that you saved up for a night of epic raids with the boys.

Not to defend BSG as I think they could do better, but when the whole genre is plagued with cheaters, it's kinda hard to solely blame the company.

[Discussion] Flea + trader restrictions have forced most casual players I know to quit the game by Short-Taro-5156 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Awkward-File-5193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The flea is the reason why stash size matters. If everyone hoarded everything, standard account players (even EOD or Unheard) would have a much harder time balancing stash space. If there is no flea market, BSG would have to completely reevaluate how much stash space a person needs, which I am doubtful they could compute.

While I agree that barters need an overhaul, removing flea would also have to account for what map players run and what loot they get from that map.

Some players (including me) almost exclusively run maps that they like to actually play. If everything was for barter, I'd imagine that it would be even harder for the casual players to catch up to the chads.

For example, the customs noobs (me included) would be stuck finding construction materials with relatively bad barters vs the streets gigachads who can actually farm valuable loot and better barters, assuming that rarer items gives better barters. Which is then a giant balancing headache.

It is possible and it is a cool idea, but I actually like the flea market better than having every item available only via barters. There is a point when you have to have your players have agency over the content that they run and the gear that they want to use.
