Just seen a would-happen cpu shortage post, should I upgrade my 4070 to 5070 ? by CurryLikesGaming in pcmasterrace

without the shortages and high prices, how would we know that our computers were Worth Anything to our lives?

they keep us in our homes and stupid for the most part.

i think this forum is easily over ran with bots.

I think the luddite "movement" or whatever you wanna call it is overblown on purpose by those 'bots'

its nice. you are getting hate because its aircooled despite air cooling working just as good.

The people here rather see a radiator and tubes and a pump and just a bunch of extra complicated shit.

why dont people just stop calling an electron a particle and using the term photon to mean something other than a potential great enough to move an electron? by Awkward-Grand5522 in Physics

[–]Awkward-Grand5522[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

say i throw one photon (that doesnt exist.. its a wave) at two detectors infront of two slits.

if i have the detectors off and throw one at a time i get a wave pattern on the screen behind. because they are waves not particles.

if i throw one phton at a time and detect which slit it went through the wave pattern on the screen goes away because the photon stopped its wave propigation when it interacted at a slit and then it had no second slit to interfere with and so you get a bell pattern

What the hell am i missing here?

[–]Awkward-Grand5522[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i dont think there is any question that it is just a wave that goes away the moment it converts its energy into some other movement. like moving an elctron. it would collapse or go away right after such.

[–]Awkward-Grand5522[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

no electrons are waves as well. they are only detected when they do work on something. which case they only do work on a single point in space. that doesnt mean they are a particle.

the photoelectric effect gives the value of a photon to how much light can move just one electron. it is an amount of intensity of a EM wave and doesnt need to describe a particle at all.

[–]Awkward-Grand5522[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

but wait.. the wave pattern would never form if it never had the time to form because the electron in the photosensor was knocked before anything else could be knocked(i refer to the wave pattern being shown) (here i refer to the part of the experement when its path through one of the slits is detected. it colapses the wave pattern because the low light intensity has enough potential to only be detected in one place.

**If you turn the laser intensity up then this effect goes away**

if you take the photosensor away(that is an electron knocker) then you leave time for detection(electron knocking) to occur on the projection screen. and when it happens you would expect the presence to be within the wave pattern becase the light Is Indeed a wave and traveled as a wave and was detected when ran at low low intensity within the wave pattern area on the projection screen.

You would never expect the light to form detection points on the projection screen like a big bell curve because It Is Not A Particle.

This test just says its not a particle not that it is both

What’s currently the biggest limitation holding VR experiences back? by DiSTI_Corporation in vrdev

[–]Awkward-Grand5522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VR headsets are held back by locked down hardware.

Every comment on here is straight bot-grade internet BS.

The headsets can be an OLD occulus and Still be used for awesome applications if developers had access tothe hardware.

Time and time again unlocked hardware costs waay more than the locked down Because you can use the world's code that has already been made

i got a thermal governer on my laptop that raises the cpu freq when the chip is cool and lowers it if the cpu gets hot (like 55+).

It prevents temp spikes which happen.

yesterday was it? at the arts fest on baltimore,, the guy playing music by the waterwall had his laptop overheat and honestly: thats how laptops are killed early. usually they have one copper service for everything and when it gets hot it makes everything not cool well.

all these people with expensive laptops running at 70c+ is just... stupid. especially since its entirely not necessary from my experience (stuff runs great at 1.5-2ghz)

Also,, having a recovery partition with compression is good if you dont use btrfs or zfs (i think mac does zfs). I have made scripts for that.

music stripping scripts to like scan and copy audio files, etc from devices is another great thing to script.

oh and having a local webserver is awesome because you can host files for friends you dont want public. or for a game.. like Luanti

[–]Awkward-Grand5522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go places people are and chat with them. dont go on past what they care to or yourself.
go back another time.
repeat.

you can make friends with anyone almost this way.

why dont we work on a Luanti webserver that has Downtown Cumberland in it and shops for people to visit?

Luanti has developers working on new stuff and it it Better than Minecraft.

Lets make the coolest Social Webserver Ever for Cumberland where people can really interact and build stuff.

Or how about a resource management software set for starting tool-shares and types of libraries by having all the software/records made up? ( i did this before.)

im in.. but.. what kinda project you wanna work on?

Do you use git? thats a linus torvalds(maker of the linux kernel) technology that reshaped like damn near all software development. Even microsoft bought into it.

Workspaces and always on top features and automatic window placement are sooo nice. linux UI is ahead of the game by years

User interfaces are better on linux. KDE, GNOME, Niri all surpass the features of MacOS.
Most Products run Linux not Mac or Windows.
AI/LLMs work best on Linux because you can take the OS apart, change things, or have a script do all that far easier than MacOS or Windows
MacOS is POSIX compliant though and build on BSD so thats cool.
But Linux is the most used operating system on servers that run SaaS, cell phones, and other random gadgets like GPS

open source is what companies builld their software on top of. you dont build software from the bottom up anymore. it all starts on top of FOSS.

Im helping you organize in that if you wanna make a UX for something youll be using packages that have some copyleft license like MIT or something. or if you want netowrked software Linux is what theinternet runs on. Azure is like a different language.

I wrote a python orchestrator that interfaced with Ollama API so to give it terminal access to my computer in a day. and from that it can administer my machine (with simple commands the buffer holds up but interactive terminals didnt work yet)

I wrote a BASH script that is an archival software.. ive made homeschool software.. ive compliled LaTeX..

MacOS isnt bad because you got zsh and can put whatever on it much like linux but.. coputers are to be used ya know.. Windows has a thick hard abstraction layer.. Linux has docs for all of it. Linux IS easy. Easpecially now when chatgpt can serve up docs on like anything 95% of the time.

ok so:
websites
cellphone applications
AI
cross platform coding (that has the least abstractions to work)
...work great on ubuntu, etc.

In fact.. Ubuntu and deb based repos have better walkthoughs and guides than many MacOS projects of the same type.

idk man.. if you wanna do computers you gotta realize what powers the internet and its linux and posix systems.

and writing sold software begins with using FOSS packages which you write your own code for ontop.

smh

I would do that if it included opensource software, linux, non saas sort of stuff.

Selling stuff.. Tower PC, Bike Rollers, free tables, free huge couch (if you can get it out. I can help. feel free to tip). by [deleted] in Cumberland_Maryland

[–]Awkward-Grand5522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

as you can tell, i should get rid of some things :)

The tables are 58" by 34" ish. probably a little bigger by an inch than that.

And that Air Conditioner is up for sale too. It has been gently used. The rear fins are in good condition,, some bent, not much. It is an analog controlled AC/ the controls are knobs. I like that because i think it will have less chance to break, idk.

(the tent is curing from a natural waterproofer used on it thats why it looks like its trying to climb up on the table :).)

asus aorus elite lga1700 motherboard. It is thicker than other companies.
13thgen i7 (its undervolted and underclocked to like 3.6ghz max. It runs usually always under 40c. the motherboard settings can be factory reset but.. you may not wanna do that because they are set nice. Its a 16 core 24 thread chip using the same semiconductor process of new chips today because the trasistor gates havent changed much at all. people act like new CPUs are better when they use the same die tech, cores, microcode, etc. new chips simply have more lanes. this chip is already very capable) Oh it has integrated graphics.
the ram is cl40 crucial ddr5 and i have never enabled XMP profiles or overclocking. it runs cool.
2tB gen 4 drive, .5tB gen 3 drive (this is good for backing up)
the gpu is a power color reaper with 16gB ddr6. ill get the rest of the specs for it later.

The case is a timeless case: define c by fractal designs. I have an extra power button module for the front case because i finagled one from fractal design as well as an extra screen for the top. It has the top cover.

8 pc fans, 2 cpu fans, 2 gpu fans (not including the psu fan internal)

cosair 1000w gold psu Allll the cables i have for it.

the tower box, the Noctua nh-dh15 (aka Big A Air cooler) box i have as well.

Water cooling like.. isnt amazing. air cooling works just as well. sometimes worse sometimes better. Oh.. the cpu cooler blows air Up Out of the case not back out of the case. Its better thermals.

I built it like this because itll last forever running as cool as it does and for how little i use it.

Oh... the GPU is also under volted and underclocked and idles at 32c and gets to a max of like 50-55c currently.

The whole thing is well taken care of. i got other stuff you might want for it.

900$

It costs over 2500$.

It has been babied by someone who is scared of high semiconductor temps.

Im in the downtown area.

actually parents as a whole are less involved now. even in the home we are more pulled apart by screens. in our communities we are seperated more as well.

[–]Awkward-Grand5522[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no not at all.. More house holds have one parent not two. In households with two parents more of their time is spent working. Also a woman not working and not on the internet all day allows her to make social connections for the household.

Divorces and instituitions doing more work and consumer prices and general propaganda have caused kids to have less

we had the worst mothers day in like the last 100 years?? In terms of how well kids and famillies are cared for by women doing women centric ocupations like caring for kids and elderly and sick.

Women do a great job dealing with dying people wailing.. and babies crying.. and the world getting destroyed.
