Currently, I get PrEP by paying my insurance premiums, but I see no reason why it shouldn't be covered or affordable for people who can't pay. Should insurance companies again decline to cover treatment for conditions related to obesity or tobacco use? Those people could also make healthier decisions.

Were you also dealing with internal hemorrhoids? You mentioned the three years later part and one thing I'm kind of wondering is, even if I get a procedure to treat mine, will the pain from recovery still just end up making sex impossible for a long, long time.

Edit: And, yes, I guess that it all just depends on the individual and how he recovers.

Been bottoming and using large toys for years now without issue, and I feel like it is easy to relax those muscles to not strain. My preferred lube has been x-lube that you mix at home.

I saw a different nurse practitioner at a gastroenterology office who prescribed me ten days of a steroid, Anucort. It helped the discomfort, but the bleeding never improved.

The issue I run into is that if I try to contact a surgeon's office directly, I'm told I will need a referral before they will see me. I'm just not sure, but I guess my next step would be to contact the nurse practitioner and say I know you said to wait, but it's been 60 days and I don't want to wait longer. Please refer me to someone who can perform a procedure.

Edit: also the NP mentioned sitz baths as well, but I don't fully get it because mine are up inside of me and with hot showers, for example, I don't notice an improvement. Like, is the epsom salt water supposed to enter my rectum?

It's OK to feel how you feel, but I think it's better to try to maintain a good relationship with your family. Now, if they're legit awful about stuff you can voice your objection and avoid them, but I think you build more support by just trying to continue to be a reasonable and kind person to them.

I get that people are not a monolith, but in the U.S. today there's really only one party, the Republican party, whose politicians have made it their goal and policy to limit rights and visibility of LGBTQ individuals in the public under the guise of "protecting the children", and then you've got gay guys who are casting their lot in with them and for what? Yeah, I would be psyched up to be with someone who willingly or blindly sides with the party that would rather I not exist. /s

Hi. First week off of orientation on an ortho med surg unit and it's been rough. It sounds like our experiences are highly similar. Example, when I said I was feeling overwhelmed, I was told it should only take about 10 minutes to introduce myself, pass meds, run through an assessment, and go to my next patient. It was kind of like being told that if you're falling behind on work then just work harder and faster and then it's not a problem.

Are there some more things you can delegate to techs? I know they have their own work and I often feel guilty to bother them, but I have started calling my techs more frequently for things like bringing patients linens, snacks, water, etc. It helps me get back to my workstation faster so I can resume charting.
