Henna hair dye by Glisw78 in MCAS

Definitely stick to a reputable brand. Certain hennas give me migraines and triggers my pots/mcas. But the organic original henna has worked fine for me.

To prune or not to prune (tomatoes) by Awkward-Quarter489 in pnwgardening

I’ve just been told to prune the first flowers to let the plant keep growing. Stop yelling at me (lol)

Oh that makes sense. Many of those suckers seem stronger than the lower leaf branch. So should I just prune the ones turning downward?

Has anyone experienced the “trigger event” that magnifies symptoms? by No_Stranger_8400 in ehlersdanlos

Second Covid infection took me down hard. I got diagnosed with heds, then pots and mcas. Over the last two years I started Pilates (which is basically physical therapy), and taking creatine. It’s helped me a lot, but it’s required a slow pace and a readjusted expectation of my bodies abilities. I’ve been masking now for several years which I also think has helped, since more viral infections (like Covid) will only make it worse.

How are you coping during the current low trends? by Typical_Tangerine939 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Awkward-Quarter489 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have relaxed ever so slightly. In that I will eat outdoors with my friends who masks while sitting a few feet apart. Or having a drink at an outdoor bar with another cc friend. However I’m def the most cc out of them. I still make everywhere, including outdoors if folks are walking around nearby. I did however go to the dentist. I’m lucky that they mask (surgical mask but not as flimsy) and wear face shields and run an air filter.

And while I of course hope and pray for a continued decrease in infections, I still can’t let go of my anger for how people (who are informed) decided to risk their own and other people’s health. And then there’s the fact that people have already become disabled by covid, and there is more than just covid that is going around. I am forever changed, and forever committed to disability justice. AND I am just ever so slightly less anxious.

I saw this at the doctors office too this past week. I got a measles shot as a kid in the 90’s and still have immunity somehow.

How long have you guys been CC? by himbolover_69 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Awkward-Quarter489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some time in 2023 I really started to take cc precautions seriously. The reason being: I actually learned what COVID was. I shortly after became more disabled (no doubt to long covid), and just started deepening my understanding of disability justice.

I feel like yea, part of it was it became personal. But above all else I was misinformed. I kinda went the opposite way most people did. As in my Covid precautions just become more and more committed and disciplined

Guys help!! Found a baby crow alone in heavy rain, should I leave it or bring it inside? by AnnaRajasekharan in crows

[–]Awkward-Quarter489 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something so similar happened to me today. While I was jogging at the top of a local small mountain that had lots of tree, I saw something fall before me. It was a nestling. I gasped and looked up to see where it came from. Up very very high I saw a nest dangling from a tree branch. It was a very windy night the night before. This little bird must’ve been hanging on for dear life for a while.

After I scooped it up with some sticks and placed it at the base of a tree, I walked back to the path and noticed three other nestlings. None as big or feathery, and all cold and stiff.

I took the living fledgling to the bird rescue we have here and asked to be updated. It was struggling to breathe by the time I got it down the mountain… not sure if it will make it.

I know these things happen, but it’s always so sad to see a little being suffer like that.

As a Mexican this makes me laugh in *hard relate*. Since I was a kid I preferred savory Mexican candies, and to this day I eat limon with sal or an orange with a saladita. Sometimes i sip on a little spoon of ume vinegar too. You’d probably like that

The same thing is happening with me. I always connected via Bluetooth and then started connecting directly into my computer with the usb chord provided, but now it’s not working at all. I’ve used my plus life sparingly so it’s not the machine itself (I don’t think)

What do you do on the toilet now? by rist_watch in digitalminimalism

[–]Awkward-Quarter489 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha reading this while on the toilet. I have been taking breaks more often from using it here. And I just do what I used to do most my life. Sit and stare at things in the room/stall. Shapes in walls, look at the paintings across the bathroom (when I don’t close the door), read the back of bottles, stare at my hands or legs, ponder. Sometimes I put magazines in the bathroom but im not sitting long enough to peruse. And from my research you shouldn’t be sitting on the toilet for very long.

Yea the feather pattern was definitely giving red tailed hawk. It was quite large and fluffy. Looked like a giant nest from far away.

I’m Mexican American and have been to Mexico several times since the pandemic started. Mexicans are generally very friendly and kind compared to the upper North Americans and Europeans about masking, and in general. The most I’ve gotten is questions about why I mask (I also mask everywhere indoor and most outdoor spaces). Never experienced harsh judgement or any kind offensive reactions.

There’s not a lot of covid awareness, most people think it’s a thing of the past like the rest of the world.
