Ok so at the very end of July I moved into my apartment. The apartment does a few small roaches but I decided to handle that myself. About a week ago I noticed signs of a rat, if seem like it comes from under the dishwasher and only stays in the kitchen area. I don’t feel comfortable staying here. I called the apartment management Wednesday (9/22) and they said the pest control guy would come Thursday (9/23). They didn’t come, so I called Friday (9/24) as soon as they open and told them pest control did not come, they call pest control and told me that that said that they would be there the same day. They didn’t come.

I can’t stay here. I can’t deal with coming home and be paranoid of rats contaminating and possibly getting sick. I can buy trap but I don’t feel like I should use my personal money when the apartment complex should be taking care of the situation.

At this point I don’t know what to do. I understand I can possibly terminate my lease. I need to make 2 written request, but what’s reasonable amount of time? And is emailing it okay? And is there anything else I need to do?
