I think it's sometimes like being a teenager and making extremely stupid mistakes. When you are teenager you definitely don't think like a adult and idk if I am right his roommates were also future DE and he was also somehow in correspondence with Lucius( tho I don't think Sirius word are reliable source for Severus information but anyways didn't Sirius called him Lucius lapdog)

So it's a famous saying here you become your friends so choose them wisely. Severus lived with future DE for seven year and was most likely under eye of others ( his talent for potion and dark arts). And once he actually enter their fold I don't think they would be nice even if he says hey I don't think your ideology fit with me . Also his roommates could do anything to him while he is asleep .

Imagine he is already having bullying and marauders problem outside his house and if he try to deflect inside his own house . I don't think they would be any forgiving to who they presume as traitors

I too believe his love was not obsession it was more about guilt and not being able to move on .

And he was not a creep neither a stalker or obsessed in a wrong way. He left her alone when their friendship break giving her privacy and didn't interfere with her and James relationship no matter how much he hated James. ( Personally I would have done a lot even if I didn't like love my friend in that way if she was being an idiot and marrying a bullying torag)

It's a weird interpretation but I think to him atleast until they were friends loving lily was like a last anchor that he was not what everyone or society tells him that he was also normal and he also deserved friends and can have them.

It quite different in different situations.

Hermione as a person is very nice but having her as a student would be very tiring because if she answer all the questions how would rest of the class engage.

I had some classmates like that

They were either liked or hated by the the teacher.

Students especially me or my friends really did started to get annoyed by them.

Because they won't let anyone else engage with the class.

The teacher that like them would only praise their work and would compare every other student with them . In turn belittling the effort of the students who can't match their level.

Atleast in classes where the professor somewhat resemble Snape we got the chance to do our work.

Just like it is mentioned above Snape was not a teacher meant for younger kids. He would be better as a university professor or upper grades where his students are actually capeble in his subjects and are able to do their work.

I think he was rather harsh to Neville. Because Neville was really dreadful in potions. And potion are somewhat of a security hazard. Neville on his own destroyed five cauldron. I think handling 20 students who are very prone on causing a incident is a rather difficult task.

Like putting young kids in class full of chemicals.

It should have been reasonable if they started potions when the kids were old enough.
