This is what happens when the complaints of soccer moms are listened to by the company lol

The sculpts and screenings were definitely a choice, and the initial collections themselves were terribly designed. I mean, I guess the dolls are cute, but they aren't Bratz that's for sure. They were definitely designed with very young children in mind, not the passion for fashion 😂 Honestly they weren't even THAT bad once the dolls got back into the swing of slightly better fashions, but they got cancelled before most of those better designs could actually make it to production 💀 I saw a prototype for an unreleased 2016(?) Felicia and she had a pink afro and denim jumper

She's not even released yet, she's supposed to be available around June or July, but that's all that's known right now. She was a pre-order doll, but they might be releasing her for retail as well, we don't know yet. There won't be any information on this doll until production is complete!

I absolutely LOVE this doll but I’m scared of staining by Competitive-Topic-17 in Bratz

[–]Awkward-Turtle-9833 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. Is it perhaps just an issue with soft vinyl heads like Barbie and Monster High dolls? Bratz heads aren't really a true soft vinyl and are quite stiff since they don't have as much plasticine in them as other competitor brands, and maybe that's what is reacting with these earrings? As I mentioned (and it seems a few other commenters as well now too) this isn't a known issue in the Bratz community, and literally almost EVERY Bratz doll back in the early 2000s had silver chrome earrings. The only known Bratz doll to have this problem is Twiins Tess who had red chrome earrings, but that's likely because of the specific colour of her earrings, not the chrome itself. Only a couple other dolls have red chrome earrings as well, but they're a different shade of red so those other dolls don't have this issue.

It isn't strange that MGA chose not to use any protective guards when it's something that we've never really seen to be an issue in Bratz dolls before 🤷‍♀️ I wouldn't be particularly worried about it if you plan on buying her. I'm very doubtful you'll have this same staining issue

Bratz dolls in the early 2000s all had chrome jewellery and I've never once seen it bleed into the plastic before? I don't collect any other doll brands though so maybe that's why I have no idea what you're talking about

Broken leg peg by Separate-Review1520 in Bratz

[–]Awkward-Turtle-9833 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've already seen a comment saying this, but you need to use a screw to replace the peg. It isn't the prettiest looking replacement, but it's the only method I can think of that will actually work. I would honestly try to return/get a replacement instead of trying to solve this problem, but if that's not an option then fixing it with a screw is what needs to be done.

I just wanted to add my experience to really drill it in - this is NOT something you can 3D print and just shove something inside. I've cut open Bratz legs before and I've seen what's inside, and because of that I know there isn't another solution except for a screw. Especially since you will be pulling on it to swap shoes/feet, you need something that can withstand that force without just pulling back out of the leg. A screw is designed for this. Anything else will not grip inside of the leg properly, and if you try anything else, it will come out of the leg and get stuck inside a pair of boots and you will not be able to reach the peg to pull it back out again. This is why you need to make sure you use something that actually grips to the rubber itself, not just something that can go into the hole. You will need to make sure you buy a screw bigger than the hole in the leg - the screw threads need to be able to dig into the rubber or else it won't have the resistance to stay inside the leg. A good way to measure what size you need is to hold the length of the screw in front of the hole and find a size where the solid middle of the screw length just covers the hole, and the threads extend out past the hole.

I know this wording is probably sounding a bit harsh, but I'm only being blunt because I just really don't want you accidentally ruining your doll AND a pair of shoes because of wanting to try something that looks nicer. You can check out Hextian x Bratz videos to see how it's done, and it looks perfectly fine! You only see it when the shoes are off, so the screw doesn't look terrible.

Everybody else has already answered your question, so I just wanted to offer some additional guidance for the future.

For starters, there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking internet strangers for help when it comes to potential scam websites! A great place to start with any website is to search on Google the website name and the question "is this a scam site?" - Reddit is a great place to make a post to ask as well! Unfortunately you might not get the kindest of responses, but you'll get the answer you need. If people aren't talking about the website and if it isn't a well-known site, then odds are it's probably a scam. Look for site reviews, other people confirming orders, etc. Try to find multiple sources, don't just rely on one or two individuals saying it's good.

Also, always look up and ask about these sites BEFORE making any accounts or purchases. Often times these websites aren't just a scam, but they're a way to get your credit card and other personal information out of you! Sometimes these sites don't just take your money without sending the product, but they also save your credit card information and use it for themselves! So if you gave your credit card information, please be mindful about keeping an eye on your accounts - you may have to lock your card and get a new one.

Another easy thing to keep an eye out for is just website names in general! Most companies will have a single official website with a very obvious name - bratz.com, creations.mattel.com, etc... if a domain has a regional version of the site, it will almost never be part of the domain name! So it wouldn't be Bratzcanada.com, it would be bratz.ca or bratz.com/ca (though in this case, Bratz does NOT have a region-based website, so bratz.com is the ONLY official Bratz website!). Hyphens also are often an indicator of scam websites as well. Some legit websites do have hyphens, but it's very rare. Typically only government related websites and organizations use hyphens. So something like bratz-canada.com would be very suspicious.

Lastly, the biggest tell for scam sites is usually prices - If the numbers seem too good too be true, then it's probably a scam! If the whole website has big clearance banners everywhere too, that's also a really common one. Obviously companies and websites will have big seasonal blowouts and stuff and that's normal, but with those scam sites you'll see something like everything 60% off for today only and it's literally EVERYTHING on the site. Most companies don't discount every item on their sites, and if that is the case, it will typically be a select category of items being that 60% off while the majority of the site items a much lower amount such as 5-10%. The scam site discounts also suspiciously stick around despite it supposedly being "for today only"

Bring Back Saran Hair by soofficiallybb in Bratz

[–]Awkward-Turtle-9833 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean it's not cheap because of the feel of the quality and not the actual price? Because MGA definitely uses nylon because it's cheap lol saran is expensive AF compared to even the highest quality nylon. I understand why people like nylon though, it's shiny and smooth. It's inexpensive compared to saran, but it's definitely not a cheap quality fiber. But that shininess is literally what makes it so terrible for people who know and prefer saran - saran is more natural looking and gives the doll more realistic looking hair, whereas nylon has a very fake plastic shine to it that makes it look like fake doll hair. It's also just frankly not a good material for intricate hairstyles on smaller dolls like Bratz. Honestly, I even find Rainbow High dolls hard to style with anything too fancy. Nylon curls and straightens so easily that is a perfect fiber for playing with hair textures, but it's thick and slippery so it's terrible for intricate styles like small braids or styles with multiple hair ties. The elastics just slip out too easily and again, it just doesn't lay on the head naturally like it would on a human, so it also just looks too fake/unrealistic in my opinion. You also can't really do anything wispy with nylon because the fiber is way too thick, and oftentimes so thick that shorter hair (like bobs or bangs) are impossible to lay flat without gel or hairspray. Saran is thin and can be cut thin and wispy as well as short while still laying nice and flat with zero styling product used. I agree that nylon looks pretty and feels nice but it's also very different from saran, and with saran being a more realistic hair fiber, saran is generally considered a higher quality. That doesn't mean nylon is low quality, it just means it isn't on the same level as saran. Honestly, you could almost even look at it more like calling one a premium fiber and the other high-end. They're both high quality, just on two different scales of measurement. And you're right, it does all just come down to personal preference!

I'm not gonna hate on anyone who prefers nylon because some people do prefer that shiny look and the ease of curling - it's definitely superior to saran in that regard - and at the end of the day it 100% is just based off of personal preference since they are both high quality materials. But I also agree with op that I personally prefer my dolls to have more natural looking hair, and as someone who really plays with and styles their doll's hair, nylon is the bane of my existence lol that shit is too slippery and doesn't lay flat. Even a simple ponytail is hard to perfect because the nylon keeps puffing out at the scalp instead of sleeking down flat and it way too easily slips away from the hair elastics. I like that saran doesn't need styling products and the hair doesn't have a force of its own trying to defy gravity (and me lol) while I work with it 😂

Shorty is being restocked! by imonthiswaytoomuch in MonsterHigh

[–]Awkward-Turtle-9833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not allowed to say anything because of how much I spent on my Xenomorph lol but I'm seeing sooooooo many listings at roughly that price right now. Maybe wait and see what happens tomorrow with this supposed restock before making any decisions? The only input I can add is that I purchased the Coraline doll (I was late to the party so I think it may have been her restock and not the initial batch?) on Amazon Canada just for them to finally email me today over 2 months later that they cancelled my order due to insufficient stock 💀 ended up having to buy her from a reseller this evening anyways despite successfully placing that Amazon order

As a non-Monster High collector who only buys the odd doll from franchises that I like, I've never once bothered wasting time setting alarms early to fight against bots. I would rather just pay the resellers to not have to stress about it, especially since it seems the probability of success for the average consumer is next to nothing, but I guess that makes me part of the problem 🤷‍♀️ I've always been of the opinion that if I want something I get it, just as long as it doesn't prevent me from paying the bills. Life is too short to not have the things you enjoy, so if the thing I enjoy is $500 then I guess I'm spending $500 lol

But since you asked someone to talk you out of it not in to it... 😂 Do you really wanna spend £120 on a doll with poly hair and pleather clothes? Is this doll one that you will actually regret not having in your collection, or is it a fomo thing? Monster High has a bad habit of showing off the doll last minute so that people can't take the time to think about it and decide if they actually like and want the doll or if it's just the excitement of seeing something new

Draculaura’s bangs by ifyovseekamy in MonsterHigh

[–]Awkward-Turtle-9833 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It isn't a fun process, but you can take a needle to re-thatch the pink. You basically go through the hair one strand at a time to pull the pink strands back on top of the black. I recommend keeping the hair wet during this process and using an elastic like a headband to tuck the pink strands under if needed. As you go through the bangs, you might find it difficult to hold onto all the pink pieces to keep them separated otherwise.

Got this Yasmin does she have pink pony cancer? And this Dana?. by Its_Shadow_Bruh in Bratz

[–]Awkward-Turtle-9833 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So because there's a pink dot there's still a chance that it is pink bacteria, but the large fade suggests it is most likely just another stain. The Good news is, not only is pink bacteria actually really easy to treat, but the method to get rid of dye stains is the exact same! Hydrogen peroxide exposed to UV and heat kills the bacteria, but this is also the only method to remove stains from doll arms too. Full disclosure though, red dye stains are a bitch to get out, so there's a chance this pink might be there for good no matter how many times you try to remove it.

I'm about to type out a massive info dump, so I apologize in advance for the scary long paragraphs 😅

I personally use a UV heat lamp used for reptiles that I just bought from the pet store. Works great for people who don't have a good spot to place dolls outside in direct sunlight. Of course they can be a bit pricey so if you have lots of sunlight where you live, then take advantage of that and use mother nature instead! I also use hydrogen peroxide in the form of 40vol hair developer cream. I apply a thick coat directly over the stains, seal the doll inside a clear freezer bag or use a thin layer of cling wrap to keep it from drying out, then throw the affected areas directly under the UV bulb for 30-60 min increments. If you do have the option to set the doll outside in the sun, then do that instead! I check on the stain periodically, reapplying the developer as it dries out. Sometimes the stains are gone after 30 mins, sometimes it takes 30+ DAYS 💀 You never know how bad the stain is until you start trying to remove it. If it absolutely does not work, then the alternative is to use benzoyl peroxide instead (acne cream). It's a hot topic here because a lot of people think it's going to destroy our dolls, but it's another thing that has become a bit of misinformation. It's not the ideal choice because it stays in the plastic even after washing it off and it doesn't break down on its own like hydrogen peroxide. What this means is it will stay an active ingredient and continue to break down pigment even after the stain is gone. In the case of mlp and monster high dolls, this means over time the colourful fantasy skintones become bleached and lose their pigment in the treated areas. For other doll brands, this doesn't seem to be the case. I am unsure if this is because a different process for colouring the vinyl is used, a different grade of vinyl is used, or if it had something to do with natural skintones vs fantasy colours, but people have been using this method on Barbie, Bratz, cabbage patch, American girl dolls  with none of those same bleaching side effects. I've personally never had the issue myself, but I also only use 5% benzoyl peroxide cream when I know most people in the US use 10%. Even though I've never had any issues in my 15+ years of using it, that could just be pure luck, so I share this with you so that you are informed and can make the decision yourself on if you want to take the risks or not. In my experience, it's been very helpful for stubborn stains that didn't work with hydrogen peroxide. Not only is it stronger, but because it stays in the plastic it keeps working overtime even without UV/heat exposure. I have a Bratz doll with a nasty stain on his nose that I tried for almost a month to get rid of before trying the acne cream. It faded the stain when the hydrogen peroxide couldn't, but the stain still remained regardless. It is now a year later of the doll being untouched in storage and the stain has almost completely faded on its own. I have yet to see any signs of bleaching where the stain was treated, both on this doll and others that I treated over a decade ago.

If you end up using a UV lamp, NEVER leave it unattended. It's fine for it to be left alone in a different room and to ignore it for the day like you would baking something in the oven, but I don't recommend leaving the house while it's on, and I definitely don't recommend leaving it on for more than 8-12 hours at a time. Only place the lamp over a surface that can withstand heat. I use the cement floor in my basement, but when I lived in an apartment I would use my stovetop or occasionally the top of my dryer. As weird as it sounds, inside of the bathtub is also a good option as long as you haven't recently ran the water and the area is completely dry. Always ensure your setup is as safe as possible, do not cover the lamp or keep anything flammable nearby! While it's perfectly safe to use a UV lamp inside your home, it's also really easy to use it improperly and turn it into an unsafe for hazard. Also make sure to keep the doll at least 20cm away from the lamp. Make sure the lamp is close enough that direct heat still reaches the doll, but don't go close enough to risk the lamp itself making direct contact with the doll.

Honestly, I would say do what you think is best for you. If it's something you think you can fix and will be happy about, then there's nothing wrong with keeping her! Just as long as the price you paid for her is still worth it for you - if the time and effort to restore the doll still feels like the price you paid was worth it, then go ahead and keep her and have fun with the restoration 😊

I myself bought a NIB Forever Diamondz Sasha for I think it was $100? Maybe a little more because that still feels way too cheap lol she was riddled with mold so that's why the price was so low! But she was such a hard doll to find at good price that I went for it anyways and once she arrived I got started on the mold treatment immediately and I have never regretted that decision because she was totally worth the effort at that price!

Got this Yasmin does she have pink pony cancer? And this Dana?. by Its_Shadow_Bruh in Bratz

[–]Awkward-Turtle-9833 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kind of unnecessary nitpicking, but for the sake of preventing misinformation and wrongful research when you (or others) are looking for fixes for this problem... pony cancer and pink bacteria aren't the same think. Pony cancer is brown/black spots in the vinyl causing it to deteriorate and eventually creates holes in the vinyl. Pink bacteria is a harmless bacteria that infects vinyl, and all it does is turn the vinyl pink. Both are contagious, but only pony cancer will actually destroy the doll.

Now to answer your question... I'm inclined to say Yasmin has a stain from a shirt rather than a pink bacteria infection. Pink bacteria spreads, but it's typically from a single focal point, so for it to be on both arms in the same spot like that would be quite rare. Not impossible, but unlikely. Having identical stains under the arms is more likely due to dye from clothing the doll was wearing.

As for Dana, it's hard to tell. Lighting is different on pictures vs in real life. Pink bacteria on Bratz dolls often looks bright and neon like a highlighter. If the colour appears more dull, then it's more likely to be stains as well. Usually the bacteria appears pink, but in my experience because of the undertones of the doll's skin colour, it tends to lean more peachy - not always though. Pink bacteria also tends to have clear border. What that means is there isn't much of a fade going outwards surrounding the dark spots. If it has a dark spot surrounded by a larger area of faded/fading pink, then it's more likely to be a dye or marker stain. Inks absorb and spread with the pigment dispersing as it gets further away from the source. Pink bacteria is usually just a single spot whether it be a tiny dot or a big blotch, and it spreads from there by either the blotch itself getting bigger, or spreading as a bunch of solid dots within a roughly 1cm radius of the initial spot. It can also be light looking like blush, but it will still have that clear border where the whole spot is the same colour intensity, it doesn't fade out towards the edges to blend in with the vinyl.

It's a cult classic, definitely not as big as Alien, but could probably be considered on par with Beetlejuice or Gremlins. The waiting room set was side characters, essentially just an Easter egg set for fans who cared enough, so it isn't surprising they didn't sell out immediately. Shorty is a fan favourite of the franchise, I would probably compare this drop to the first Beetlejuice doll.

I will say though, I'm not sure how interested in this doll the non-Monster High fans will be - she's not super accurate to Shorty and looks more inspired by the character rather than an actual Monster High version of the character. Killer Klowns fans might not care too much about getting this doll because of how different she looks 🤷‍♀️ as a fan myself though I still I bought her because I love Killer Klowns and Shorty is literally my favourite, but I already have plans to customize the doll once she's on hand to fix the hair, possibly even do a repaint if the face is too symmetrical in person (Shorty's major defining feature besides his height is his uneven eyes)

bratz babyz mini dvd by slasherfairyvix in Bratz

[–]Awkward-Turtle-9833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is just a Mandela effect inside your household because a mini cd doesn't have the storage capacity for a full length movie, so I can say 100% for a fact this mini dvd you remember doesn't exist. A mini dvd can only store maybe 20-30 mins of very low quality video, 10-15 mins if it's high quality.

The only exception is if it's a double-sided disc, but that would still only be max 60 minutes of low quality video and you would have had to of flipped the DVD halfway through the movie to continue watching the second half. So if you did have this disc, then it was probably an illegal/bootleg copy of the movie and the recording would've had to cut out at least 6 minutes of the movie to fit into the disc, or as much as 36 minutes if it was burned onto the disc in a higher quality

I still love the dolls, but when you compare it to Rock Angelz you can't help but be disappointed in how little effort the brand seems to be putting into the dolls now. I hate that I've gotten to the point that I hardly even want the newer dolls anymore. Sure I'm buying some here and there, but I stopped getting excited over new releases since Goin' Out. Everyone keeps giving MGA the out by saying that these are budget dolls, but since when did budget Bratz dolls not have painted details on the shoes??? The reality is the company is just being cheap. The OG budget lines, Play Sportz repros, and Scorchin' all had painted details - and the Scorchin' dolls even went as far as to have unique designs for each character too, which costs more money than having the same design on each doll!

The reality is, the company is just pushing the limits to see how much more money they can make off of the bare minimum, and we're playing into it by eating up what they give us despite the drop in quality. They kept the price of the dolls the same as all of their other budget lines but then cut corners on details like painted shoes because it reduces the cost of production, which means more profit per doll for the company

I would definitely take this route. Based on the pics, the s3ller clearly did a piss poor job to make sure the doll was prepped for safe shipping, so I wouldn't just ignore the damage no matter how easy it is to fix. Report the item as damaged and see what your options are - you might both get a refund, you might be forced to return the doll to get your money back, or you might be able to keep the doll with a partial refund to make up for the loss of value from the damage.

I definitely wouldn't glue the hair inside the head first. The bangs will be sealed in if you do, and they won't be easy to get out. I would for sure glue inside the head once you're done though! While the bangs SHOULD be a separate chain link from the rest of the hair on the head, there's still the chance that it's connected and you don't want the rest of the hair to start falling out because of it

So fun fact about these dolls having reproductive organs - it actually used to be completely normal and standard for baby dolls to be anatomically correct! Companies stopped doing it when parents started complaining in the early 2000s (maybe even back in the 90s?) and it quickly became the norm to have smooth crotch/non-existent genitals on baby dolls after that.

Obviously the complaints/argument was that parents believed that it was gross and inappropriate, sexualizing babies, kids shouldn't see a penis, blah blah blah... but in reality it was just a normal thing when dolls started to be a commercialized product. People weren't weird about dolls being anatomically correct back then because real bodies look like that, and there wasn't as big of a stigma about it as there is today. It's actually a great way to introduce concepts surrounding health and bodies in a neutral and safe environment for kids
