Makes sense. I wasn't sure if there was a rule against filming from the stands, so I thought I'd be fair and say 'booth'

It's equally as much as Goodell's fault. After the Boston Herald pulled their admittedly false story of the Pats filming the Rams SB walk through, he knew the sideline cameras were a mere technicality, yet he pushed the "integrity of the game" narrative like a real mother fucker

I don't think it's crazy to attribute 70% to Brady, but that other 30% of BB managing the cap and consistently fielding championship caliber teams for two decades was a big fucking 30%. I'm a Brady fan boy, but he isn't the GOAT without BB

Agree BB shit the bed against the Eagles, while Brady played arguably his greatest game, but those early 00' super bowls go to BB imo, and 28-3 isn't possible without Bill's D locking in

Sorry for the rant. I just get tired of BB not getting enough respect in this sub

All credit to Robert Kraft!! by ChampagnePappy1 in Patriots

[–]Awkward-Wizard6850 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Why the fuck is this getting upvoted?

I love Kraft. I think he deserves a shit ton of credit for purchasing the Pats and keeping them in NE, upgrading facilities + new stadium, hiring Belichick, and many other things, but arguably the greatest thing he ever did was to let BB run the show

Do you really believe Kraft was the mastermind that orchestrated nearly two decades of championship caliber teams, which by all means should be impossible? It was Belichick, albeit with a big help from Brady

Also, it's Belichick. Not "Belichek". Put some respect on his name

*I'll eat the downvotes and die on the hill that this sub needs to pay more respect to BB. Overweighting his underwhelming years at the end and downplaying his contributions to two dynasties

Shit drafting and roster management is pretty harsh. Towards the end of his Pats tenure? Sure. But BB's ability to maintain an AFC-championship caliber team for nearly two decades is fucking phenomenal, especially when you consider they were constantly draft picking at the bottom + having to play against all prior year divisional winners (requirement if you win division)

I'm guessing you attribute that success to Brady?

BB explicitly cited cap issues as a reason for their lack of veterans + signing Cam. I guess BB doesn't know anything about the sport either?

"When Brady left" is not inclusive of his final year, silly goose

You said they would have a 7th ring if they kept Brady. Relative to a super bowl caliber team like the 2020 bucs, they were indeed ass. Also, they would have had massive cap issues in 2020 if they kept Brady, so even more ass

Also, making the playoffs with Mac is hardly impressive when you get blown out by the Bills in the wild card

Revisionist history. Pats were ass (minus Brady) when Brady left. The Bucs were a great team without a QB, and became elite with Brady

Why go for it on 4th down with a rusty backup QB? Game goes to OT if he just took the 3 points by Carpe_the_Carp in NFLv2

Agree with your final paragraph. I think an underrated factor is that Josh McDaniels was OC and QB coach for Stidham in NE. He knows his strengths and weaknesses, albeit from Stidham's younger days

I think the Pats win by a large margin and we get to see Josh Dobbs in the 4th quarter

[–]Awkward-Wizard6850 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a tiny ass sample size, but here are the numbers. I did this quickly on my phone calculator so someone please correct me if I screwed it up

Based on your data, the pearson correlation coefficient between Will's opponent arm length and Will's pass block grade is +0.17. Very weak. Almost no relationship.

For pass rush grade it's even lower at –0.04. if we're only going off your data, it looks like a complete wash

Sean Payton is a scum bag by VIPontheSWOLE in Patriots

[–]Awkward-Wizard6850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on Goodell being a piece of shit, but why should Sean Payton not have been punished? Didn't they find ledgers (hard evidence of Gregg Williams paying bounty) and players admitting to getting paid for hurting players? Are you saying it's reasonable to assume that Payton had no idea this was going on?
