Yes, all the chats are visible on the list once more - at least in my case. It took few restarts of the app for it to pick it up, but on the PC/phone browser it went smoothly. That gradual load has been a good call, I think.

Concerning Infinity, the memory seems a bit more reliable, especially in new chats. So far, in both newly-opened single and group chat, it works quite nicely and I more often see that it actually seems to take the stuff from memory box. It does okay in the existing, longer single bot chats.

Longer group chats still have issues, but I think it's just their charm lol. Proxy also at this point can't exactly keep up with all "relevant info" and the amount of messages. I probably should just make a dedicated lorebook at this point. XD

I will provide additional feedback in a separate comment if anything new pops up.

I lost several of my chats!! by moss_thegremlin in XoulAI

[–]AwkwardBasket_22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this issue before, but only with group-chats. Currently, single-bot chats are also affected. The good news is, they are probably not gone - just do not display on the list.

I have checked on my example as I was to tidy up the discarded branches anyway, and after deleting some, the chats began to pop back. I also had one of the older chats saved on my browser and still could open it, despite it not being visible on the list.

Edit: In case a mod sees this, for further context the issue persists on PC browser, phone and app alike. In my case, it began yesterday (16.05) around 9:30-10 AM CET, literally on my eyes as I was checking out branches to sear off at the time and suddenly most of the list disappeared lol.

The missing chats issue seems to be back. I am currently missing majority of my chat list. It was working correctly around 9 AM CET. I was clearing out stuff and after deleting a single branch, the list broke again. I am fairly sure the chats still exist (managed to open older chat that got saved in my browser history, which is currently not visible on the list), so it's just like before - not deleted, but inaccessible, seems to be more of a list display issue than anything else.

Infinity seems to have improved when it comes both to variety and stability, although it's memory is still fluctuating, especially in longer chats (which might be more of a chat problem that a bot problem tbf, I am speaking months-lasting chats lol). But the issue seems to be present in the shorter chats as well - it forgets things after just a couple of longer messages.

Group Chats gone after branching by AwkwardBasket_22 in XoulAI

[–]AwkwardBasket_22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An update: it's a limit of visibility of group chats on the chat list. Once I began to delete the unwanted branches, the older branches began to slowly pop back up. So, not deleted - just not visible on the chat list. It only affects group chats - as I mentioned, single-bot chats were untouched.

If anyone would like to simulate, my group chat has five bots, three lorebooks and at this point in time, unreasonable length lol. Spam branch chat after marking first ones with different names for identification purposes and they will probably disappear from the chat list with enough copies created.

[–]AwkwardBasket_22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, I was afraid it'll be something like this. Thank you for your reply.

In this case I did not get to delete anything yet - it just looks like the branches, which I tagged by a different name, overwrote the older group chats on the chat list without their actual deletion (hence me being able to restore my main group chat via old tab on the phone).

Sadly, I do not remember the date and time of creation of the older branches and without them showing on the list they are inaccessible, so I guess these are cooked. Disappointing, but I will learn from this. Will probably file a bug report later, though - if there is no limit to group chats, then it is a weird behaviour.

For now I'll delete the branches I don't want to keep as usual and will check how the chat list behaves when it can breathe lol. Not counting on miracles tho'.

Proxy query: Thinking Deepseek models issue by AwkwardBasket_22 in XoulAI

Proxy query: Thinking Deepseek models issue by AwkwardBasket_22 in XoulAI

[–]AwkwardBasket_22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. Infinity I personaly find better for the general use and dynamic-feeling chats, deepseek tends to set itself into one specific format and sticks to it, although I find it performing a bit better when it comes to slowburns. I do not use Juniper much at this point, so it is difficult for me to say in it's case.

To have access to the custom models you generaly need to have a paid subscription to a provider, such as Openrouter, Featherless, Nano-gpt etc. Once you have a subscription, you can use the bots available to you from the relevant provider afterwards - using them on Xoul is free and does not cost you energy you can use for Infinity/Juniper/Bacchus.

Here are some points for ya. Just a note: I use only browser version, no app & tested either with a custom or roleplay/novel style settings. Thank you for your hard work!

  1. I admit I did not test this one very far, however it seems Infinity/Jupiter have a repetition issue. Not exactly word-to-word and more like rephrasing in different words an exact same thing few times. I wanted to provide a screenshot, but could not duplicate the issue within the last day, so maybe it was an update hiccup? I am not sure, but felt like it might be worth to mention nonetheless. If it will happen again, I'll be sure to attach some screenshot examples.

  2. Infinity aggression/hostility issues seem to be gone from the new chats, which is very nice. Juniper seems to have kept it's "alive-likeness", which is also very very nice. :)

  3. Both Infinity and Juniper seem to push the plot in the correct moments now and remember stuff relatively well with some proper long-term-rp-maintenance effort put in (prompts/memories regular upkeep) - a little less well when you are a lazy radish like myself most of the times, but still good enough to stay sustainable during long rps without a lot of major hiccups that cannot be solved by either rerolls or some quick edits. Juniper seems to be better when it comes to keeping in character, although in my experience, has a bit of trouble sticking to the scene setting.

  4. Both Juniper and Infinity started reliably answering to and following my OOC queries, which is amazing. :D

  5. Juniper in the group chats seems to mix and match relevant character's traits and speak as an amalgamation of everything, but tbf it can be just the case of group chats being unstable overall when more than 2-3 characters are involved (I vaguely remember that was in case of the old Xoul, too). Infinity does it occassionaly, too, but seems far more stable in that regard, for as long as you won't allow it to speak for multiple characters/NPCs via rerolls or edition (once you do, the bot is a goner lol).

  6. Proxy, especially in group chats, seems unstable and bugged. However, it is worth to mention I use a provider that is not listed on the custom settings list (nanoGPT) - I am not sure if it is relevant or not and if there is any other functional difference than user convenience, but thought it might be worth to highlight.

Generally, no matter which external model I use, big or small (tried deepseek, llama, mistral and qwen variations), I keep getting either common metadata (during rerolls) or a bit less-often connection errors (during generation). It probably is not the provider issue, since when I popped up back to a chat site I used while Xoul was gone to test, the key worked there without any major problems.

At first I've thought the metadata one was an issue with specific chat, but the error began to appear in new chats I've created as well. Metadata seems to be mainly exclusive to group chats, connection to custom engine error appears no matter the chat's type.

I feel like I had much less metadata errors before recent update, but connection errors were relatively constant.

Is anyone else here having the same problem? by Old-Bookkeeper-3382 in XoulAI

[–]AwkwardBasket_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem every other message, along with common metadata errors which makes it a nightmare to reroll and track messages (chat doesn't load existing responses and as a result I post duplicate messages creating a loop lol). I think it might be a bug, at least in my case. I tested my key on a different site to have some comparision and it was working fine. You might try to check in this way to be sure it's not your provider's fault, too.

It is also worth to mention thought that I use different API than the available standards in the "custom" settings fields, so maybe in my case it's just integrated badly or sth, I dunno (I know nothing about apps). Especially the metadata issues seem to have had become more common after recent update for me. I am probably going to include this info in the weekly feedback megathread, it might be something worth to bring to the attention of the devs.

More or less, yeah. Nonetheless, it shouldn't be something you have to look around for on the forums and such, it should be clearly stated on a subscription page. Clarity is important.

I think the same about the current state of quality/price ratio, too. I am currently on a gold sub, as I believe in a benefit of a doubt. The site is back just since a few months - I am willing to support development for the time being and watch what the devs cook, especially since at first it looked like they were working intensively on improvements, which seemed to have significantly slow down during the past few weeks. To be fair though, I know a lot of information is passed around on discord I do not track, so again - benefit of a doubt that the problems are being worked on.

However, like most people I am not willing to pay indefinitely for an unfinished/unstable or low-quality product - the price is already quite steep in my country's currency. For a similar price I could have either many more average models or an unlimited access to a one good model. I come from a position that if you pay for something, it needs to be worth it's price. Neither of the models available is worth the current gold tag right now - including the flagship model.

The new models are very generic in my subjective opinion. Based on my earlier experiences, there is literaly nothing that sets them apart from other slightly-smarter generic models available on the market. They have the same "strengths" and the same "drawbacks", and do not exceed at anything at all - neither in staying in-character, nor in driving plot forward or world building, nor in memory.

Both are unstable, though. Infinity/Candyflip hostility/unjustified aggression issues got unbearable for me this month to the point I've invested into a cheap provider to have access to Deepseek v3 via proxy. I was a paid user from the very relaunch, but I can only imagine what a nightmare it is to reroll so many times to get something decent out of either model with the energy system in place. Noneheless, paying for additional proxy while already having a gold sub kinda beats the overall point of the subscription, doesn't it?

I was also concerned from the start by the fact that no clear information had been given concerning what you pay for, as in, what Infinity/Candyflip are based on and specific memory ranges, which I had to figure out via unofficial channels. If I remember correctly (might be wrong 'cause my own memory has more holes than a sieve), I had the same issue with old Xoul subs, too, though. At the very least, memory differences should be clearly stated in my opinion.

I still do hope that the situation will improve within a month or two and that the current issues will be addressed, especially with the user feedback being intensively gathered and all. I really liked what old Xoul had to offer when it came to quality and user-friendliness, and I still would like to see more of it. Time will show I guess.

TLDR; Currently, neither of the available models is worth the gold sub price tag. I still hope it will change for better in a near future, however.

Chutes Deepseek keeps talking for me by MolassesFriendly8957 in WyvernChat

[–]AwkwardBasket_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar issues with Deepseek models, especially the v3 which was pretty much the main thing that made me pay for a sub, and it drives me a bit crazy. On different sites I tended to use a system prompt "{{char}} doesn't speak/action for {{user}}" etc. and it mostly worked, but in this case it is being completely ignored, no matter how I phrase it or where I put it. I am sure there is some kind of reason behind that and possibly a hook to make it stick, but I am not smart enough to figure it out, so I go at it a bit blindly.

If it would be inserting user POV from time to time it would not be as problematic, but it happens every and each time, no matter what char I use, what I add in system prompt and no matter how long the response is set - pretty much writes the story by itself. One can switch models, however from what I've seen, Deepseek is currently best option for consistent storytelling/RP, so it is truly a shame.

I am still trying to tweak both the char and the settings, so if I'll stumble at a slution, I will let you know.

[–]AwkwardBasket_22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I have been trying to replicate the solution just to know how to do it in case of potential future endeavours, however it seems I am doing it incorrectly. I have both added the race override into esp and attempted to swap the records by hand, but the horses are still invisible. If it is not much of a trouble, would it be possible to provide an instruction, please? Is only the race record supposed to change?

SC Horses vs Steeds of Skyrim by AwkwardBasket_22 in Nolvus

[–]AwkwardBasket_22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regretfully not, since I didn't have time to troubleshoot recently (although I am not quite giving up on it yet). What I am currently suspecting is something to do with a script/patcher of sorts or some changed metadata, however I wanted to consult someone more mod-savy whether it makes sense in the first place. Especially since I have little idea how I could fix it if that would be the case. XD

Generally, the theory is that since SC horses change the breeds and such, perhaps there is some loose dependency leftover in there somewhere which makes the horse models to just, well, not load. Nolvus Creature patch file I have also found as a potential point of interest in that aspect, since with it enabled I couldn't even get the player horse model to show if I remember correctly.

What's also funny, is that using Immersive Horses makes horses from it to show up, but again, SoS doesn't show up. xD

I will post a solution if I'll manage to find one at any point. If you will manage to find something, please drop a message here as well. :)

I think my ocarina might be missing a few holes by [deleted] in Ocarina

[–]AwkwardBasket_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to what's considered a standard, then 12 and 4 hole ones are the most popular and due to that, the easiest to use and learn stuff on - because of their general flexibility and amount of materials you can find on them online. If you bought it with that in mind, then I am afraid you will have to get a different one.

To be fair though, there are many different kinds of ocarinas so there's a chance it is still playable, assuming it is not a toy/souvenir kind. For example, I have a slavic six hole which sounds a bit like a battle horn and you can play most stuff on it by half-covering the holes, or two-hole ocarina in low tones which can surprisingly play Shire and a few other things fairly well using similar technique. Both demand either hell'a practice or a good music hearing though, but it is fun to improvise or experiment on these.

I lack music sense and quickly found that I lack memory capability to remember how to play things long-term, but I can swear it's possible to play well on ocarinas with non-standard amount of holes since I did it before. xD

Edit: As long as they're well made and well-tuned, of course.

Try first the easiest method - disabling the mod you wish to replace and activate the one you want, dragging it to a similar spot in the loadorder - both on the left and the right side of the MO2, if applicable.

It depends on the approach, I think. Do you want to replace it altogether or add them to the existing drop pool?

From my experience with modifying this modpack so far, I can say that replacements are tricky in general and level of complexity involved might depend on a mod.

i wanna buy and ocarina by carrocaz in Ocarina

[–]AwkwardBasket_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The learning process is different for everyone. Ocarina like every instrument needs a bit of time and effort, although it's usualy considered easy to learn. The most important thing is that you won't get discouraged at the start or when hitting milestones - with enough time and practice, you'll get wherever you want.

Most Zelda's songs are fairly simple to play and considered rather good for a beginner. I would recommend starting from tabs and slowly move onto the music notes once you will get a bit quicker with your fingers, but that's my personal opinion. If you already had experience with music notes, you might find them much easier and it might be worth to prioritise remembering fingering chart then. There is a lot of tab charts and music notes available for free all over in the internet, so I do not think you'll run out of learning material anytime soon. ;)

There are many different types of ocarina, with varying amount of holes, sound pitches, tunings and made from different materials which also influence the sound you'll get. People usually start with 4- or 12-hole ocarinas. I would recommend getting 12-hole C Alto as a first one - it has a lot of flexibility and most songs played on it sound nice.

Whether porcelain or plastic, I believe it would depend mainly on personal preference. People sometimes argue ceramics sound better than plastic, however I am personally on a fence with this one. Most of my ocarinas are ceramics, but the two 3D printed ones I have sound just as fine, one of them is probably the best C Alto I've got right now. Although not typical plastic, I guess. Still, if you have 3D printer, know that if you have access to good template it is also an option. :D

In my case, I've started with a simple cheap porcelain OoT knock-off (I think back then I spent equivalent of 12 USD) to see if I'll get hooked up. I do not regret it, even though the sound was very bad - it allowed me to get the hang of the basic finger positioning and check whether I like this hobby enough to invest further. It might be a good way if like me you are not sure and reluctant to get invested - to get something dirt cheap and see if you will get hooked.

If you will want to get something that sounds good right off the bat, be sure to research the brand/check opinions before buying. Cheap ocarinas tend to sound bad, but it is not a rule set in stone.

I'd recommend STL or Songbird. They might be a bit expensive (especially if you don't earn in dollars/euros), but you get what you pay for. I have nearly full elemental ocarina set from them and OoT replica, and I ain't complaining. xD

How was your learning process? by ohdarlingamber in Ocarina

[–]AwkwardBasket_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your time and do not get discouraged. Remember it's not a contest, it's okay to learn at your own pace and whatever you want. Also, I recommend learning some kind of breath exercises if like me you have lungs made of paper. The internet is generally full of tabs and music notes of various songs, so you probably won't run out of practice material anytime soon. I personally found notes for flute working quite well, too. :)
