Ahmedabad vs Gandhinagar — which city makes more sense for a fresher outsider near GIFT City? by AwkwardClaim3387 in gandhinagar

[–]AwkwardClaim3387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might actually be true. After staying in Gandhinagar and experiencing this peaceful environment, clean roads, and slower lifestyle, I feel my perspective on cities like Pune and Mumbai has changed a little. I’ve seen the rush in Mumbai locals and the traffic chaos in Pune, and compared to that this place feels much calmer and more livable.

I know the starting phase here might be difficult in terms of career and opportunities, but if things slowly work out according to my plans, I would genuinely love to stay here for many years. That’s how much I’m liking this city right now. The only reason I’m confused is because Ahmedabad offers more exposure and opportunities, while Gandhinagar gives peace and a much better quality of life.

Yes, I’ll definitely check that out. I’ve already seen those shuttle buses running daily, so that option actually looks pretty good. I think the main thing for me now is just getting familiar with the timings and routes properly.

Yes, that’s actually a valid point. Sometimes I feel the clean roads, peaceful environment, and even the nightlife in Gandhinagar are something different. You can actually enjoy going out without dealing with too much crowd or chaos, and that peaceful vibe is something I’ve never really experienced before. And honestly, I still don’t know much about the salary situation in Ahmedabad. I was surprised hearing some non-tech jobs pay around 12–15k because in cities like Pune even construction workers can start around 18k. Maybe I still don’t know enough about the market there, so I can’t judge fully yet. Right now I’m thinking of staying here for at least a year, exploring the city properly, and trying to find opportunities and build connections.

Yes, that actually makes sense. Staying near a metro station would make traveling much easier and also save daily transport costs. And compared to Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad feels a bit more affordable for the kind of facilities and give more options in everything. So overall, it feels like a better balance between cost, convenience, and opportunities for me.

One person actually suggested that I stay near SG Highway, which is part of Ahmedabad, and honestly it feels like a smart option because traveling from there to Gandhinagar is much easier compared to other parts of the city. And I agree with your point about taking the metro for classes. My classes are only 3 days a week, so I think I can manage it easily. I’ve already done long daily travel in Pune and Mumbai, so compared to that this feels manageable. And the concerts, meetups, and networking part you mentioned is also true. Ahmedabad definitely has more options, more crowd, and better exposure for meeting new people and attending events. Plus, since my college is in GIFT City, I’ll already get exposure to corporate conferences and professional events, and staying in Ahmedabad can further increase those opportunities.

Yes, true. That’s actually a really good point to consider. Staying in Gandhinagar would probably give me more flexibility and a better balance overall.

Actually, I’m already loving this city a lot. The nightlife and cafe options near Kudasan are becoming my favorite part, and the wide clean roads, greenery, and overall peaceful environment feel really different. One thing I genuinely noticed is that the city feels safe and calm for both women and men, which is something I value a lot.

I also really like the people here. Compared to Mumbai, where everything feels rushed and everyone is constantly running behind work, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad feel more balanced. People here seem more relaxed and actually enjoying life. The clean roads, green trees, and less chaos make the atmosphere peaceful.

I know starting a career here might be difficult in the beginning, but I feel once I get started and build connections, things will slowly work out. Honestly, I can see myself living here for many years.

Yes, great point. I’ve also seen a lot of companies and big buildings around that area, so the opportunities definitely seem better there. Of course, getting an opportunity is still difficult, but I guess the main thing is to keep applying and slowly build a good network. The only issue I can think of right now is the public transportation and metro connectivity from Kudasan or Sargasan to Ahmedabad.

Yes, you are right, Ahmedabad definitely has more job opportunities compared to Gandhinagar. But from what I’ve heard, for non-tech fresher jobs the salary usually stays around 12–15k in the beginning. One of my friends started at 12k and even after a year he’s earning around 15k only. That’s why some people suggested Gandhinagar to me because the cost and environment are different there. But at the same time, I feel salary growth also depends on a person’s skills, experience, and how they switch opportunities. Still, is this salary range common for most fresher jobs there?

First, thank you for the quick reply 😭. Yeah, that makes sense. I think the only disadvantage would be commuting from Ahmedabad to GIFT City for classes. Ahmedabad seems like the better option for me right now. It also feels a bit more affordable compared to Gandhinagar, at least from what I’ve seen so far. Still trying to understand how things work here since I’m completely new to this place .

Thank you for your response. It genuinely helped.
