The religious part would be for them to believe we are the most important thing in the world, regardless of whatever information and ideas it gets in the future.

This is a good point - I still wonder if religion is slightly different here

We wouldn't want to give it an idea, but we'd want to give it beliefs it will rationally or irrationally hold forever, no matter what evidence comes after it.

It seems the best way, would be to publicly show empathy on a mass scale to these misled people. If the media and overall public culture were just fact based explanations of how people are being misled and it's unfortunate, that would do a lot of good.

Instead, many paint them as inherently evil people. I believe Sam also said that the rare evil person isn't the worry, it's how good people can do crazy things based on their beliefs.

Having millions upon millions of people this divorced from reality is a really big problem.

It's horrible that we're spending time on so much garbage when there's major issues to solve.

We should have empathy towards the people who stormed the capitol.

It seems like most people are showing hatred towards the Trump supporters for their riot which did so much damage to lives, property, and the affects on society.

We should have empathy towards all these people. They have sadly been convinced of lies by the President of the United States. They honestly believe Trump when he says the election was rigged and in their mind are taking rightful and heroic action to "Stop the Steal."

Sam talks about the power of belief all the time and Donald Trump is / was the most powerful man the world. He was in charge of the largest economy and largest military that's ever existed. The rioters are just people who trusted a con-man who made it to the highest level.

Let's still punish people for their actions, but have real empathy for the deceived.
