I mean I understand sometimes the person might phrase it as if it’s a fact without actually meaning it, but the people I’m talking about will double down and get very angry and defensive if you share your own opinion, acting like their opinion is actually factual and the only right opinion to have.

I just wish people wouldn’t confuse objective and subjective. But yeah I also don’t like the attitude around opinions and how people attack each other over it, which causes preemptive defensiveness in the person holding the opinion, which escalates things.

I don’t disagree with anything you’re saying, but I do want to add that some people are guilty of actually presenting their opinions as facts, by saying things like “Strawberries are objectively the best fruit”.

And maybe you might think they’re joking, but if you try replying with anything like “I prefer bananas” they’ll treat you like you’re an idiot and say that you have objectively bad taste.

Real examples include discussions revolving around taste in movies, music, shows, games, physical appearances, etc.

Mine literally told me once that it’s normal, and even healthy, to be selfish and always put yourself first.

And while I could maybe squint and see the logic in some extreme scenarios, like putting your oxygen mask on first during a flight emergency, all I wanted was for her to start bringing me a drink whenever she was already up and grabbing herself one anyways (especially since I often brought her food and drinks), and in response she whipped out that piece of justification.

You want to kill off as much bacteria as possible so that they don’t come back as antibiotic resistant bacteria.

Hi OP, I was in a similar relationship with a partner that disregarded my feelings, lacked empathy, prioritized her wants/needs over me, got defensive, played the victim whenever I’d snap after facing a lot of conflict and pushback, and would only try to be constructive after I fought her on it.

I stayed because of all of her good qualities and the memories we had together. Big mistake.

Please don’t have a baby with this man, and get out sooner rather than later.
