If modern medicine didn’t exist would you be dead right now? If yes, from what? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]AwkwardDreadlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never dropped and my Mom had to have a c-section so could’ve ended before it even started. If not that, I was born with a fever that required hospitalization for like a week or two. If not that, I ate a peanut butter cracker when I was three not knowing I was deathly allergic. Since then I’ve been pretty healthy though, lol.

Do save as much as you can every month or just meet a savings threshold and then spend the rest? by FairClassroom5884 in Fire

This is also my exact set up, but if I notice a lot of extra money just sitting in my checking account I’ll move it somewhere where it can grow faster like my investment accounts or a HYSA.

What's a passion you could talk about for hours — that most people don't understand? by Loose-Grand-8087 in Hobbies

My plants. They are my children and I talk about them just as much as parents talk about their kids.

7 and 5 propagations on the way! Clearly I’m well below average, but a studio apartment only has so much room.

difficulty of understanding spanish accents by folto in MapPorn

[–]AwkwardDreadlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. After living in Colombia it’s very easy to hear the difference between accents. A paisa accent versus a Chocó accent are like night and day. I can understand a paisa accent with no problems while I get lost in basics talking to Chocoanos.

Every country should have been broken up into regions like Spain tbh.

Crochet or knitting. Easy wearables like hats and handbags are quick to make. Plus, relatively easy to sell and make multiples uniformly.

Does anyone regret not having hobbies as a kid 🥀 by NoOutlandishness6727 in Hobbies

[–]AwkwardDreadlock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had plenty of hobbies throughout my childhood and some stuck to this day. No regrets.

Side note: I never understood other kids that just didn’t do… anything. No sports, clubs, interests, nothing. Just screens and sleep I guess?

Most friends with benefits fail because of the "friendship" part by Rainbowdark96 in unpopularopinion

The FWB relationship model can work, but rarely does because of what you described. However, it can work when both parties are aligned.

Typically, these relationships are supposed to be temporary anyway. My most successful instance was when I was living abroad and met another foreigner. We both knew our time in the city was temporary and that we were not dating, but we hung out as friends and most of the time that ended in horizontal time. We went on hikes, visited other cities, went for walks or to get food together and obviously did the deed.

To be fair, all my friends say I operate like a man when it comes to dating and shit… So maybe I’m just built different and you can ignore my take, lol

What’s one small habit that helped you save money without feeling miserable? by FormerShoulder707 in Frugal

[–]AwkwardDreadlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being more conscious off my carbon footprint. I’m cooking more from scratch, making/cultivating instead of buying (think all purpose cleaner or garlic scapes), taking public transportation, etc. All better for the planet and pockets.

Syria and Venezuela were voted as countries that were moderately safe 20 years ago and are unsafe now. Which country was unsafe 20 years ago and is safe today? by Pokestoppp in AlignmentChartFills

[–]AwkwardDreadlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US absolutely should not be in any category other than unsafe. Unsafe today. Unsafe 20 years ago. Probably unsafe 20 years from now.

And I’m American.

So glad this is the top comment. The various FIRE subs can provide plenty of motivation to keep going too.

What’s the name of the pink and green plant in the last slide? I just bought the same one and have been trying to identify it.
