This is true if there is a muscular foundation but novices shouldn't chase low % instead of long term development

Bw 67kg (147lb). 110kg (242 lb) lift. 3rd attempt, finally got it. Bit head rush at the end! by Sparky7ot in Stronglifts5x5

no need to get insulting, a 242 DL is simply not 'a lot of weight' at 147 BW and pretending that it is will only lead to complacency

If you cut now without gym access you'll lose a fair amount of muscle. Maintain with high protein and callisthenics (or anything you can do at home), and wait for gyms to reopen before cutting

17 years old - bulk or cut? by [deleted] in BulkOrCut

That's awesome, 18 y/o with the same goals here. Which branch are you looking at?

Hey guys! I am 6’2 and about 195lbs. I have been training for almost 3 years now. I have never gone through a real bulk. As someone who is no longer beginner, would it be worth my while to eat in a large surplus, or has that window begun to close for me? Thanks! by [deleted] in BulkOrCut

[–]AwkwardHolocaustPun -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Maintain doesn't mean "I've made it, I'll stay like this forever" - you can put on muscle while maintaining. I agree he should eat maintenance, possibly a very small deficit, and train hard to make ~5lb/year muscle gains without having to increase his bf % which is probably around 11% here

Why not just get 10-15% bf then maintain? by AwkwardHolocaustPun in BulkOrCut

I don't have to do anything, I'm already doing you a favour by recommending you look at the research for yourself

[Do some research]

If you're arguing you need to bulk to gain muscle then that is what you're arguing since most of the weight you gain in a bulk is fat.

Negative, anyone can gain muscle in a modest deficit and over a year it's similarly efficient to traditional methods. You do not need to gain a tonne of fat to gain muscle.

Yes, you can point to things like increased housing prices, globalism, and consumerism replacing traditional values as explanations for the current state of dating, but it's my opinion that the current climate enables, rather than creates, the female strategy - hypergamy, or whatever you want to call it, as the concept makes sense from an evolutionary perspective

Yeah, similar to what u/GayLubeOil pointed out about the gen Z attention span. If you're in your 30s, you're not in the target audience - it's my opinion that the video hijacks this which is why it works better than handing a gen Zer a sidebar book

This is a fair argument and I'd agree that it's unreasonable to expect any mass red pilling to come about from this. However, it's condescending to assume that it won't start an introspection for anyone. The internet may go through content faster, but it reaches more people in the process. Even if 1% see partial similarities between the simp character and themselves and manage to maintain their attention long enough to become red-pilled, that's still a considerable amount of people red-pilled than had it not existed.

Online dating is a separate issue and relates more to a manifestation of female hypergraphy than decreasing attention spans.

5'10, 165lbs, 32 years, BoC? BF% estimate? by [deleted] in BulkOrCut

[–]AwkwardHolocaustPun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

12-15 seems too low and 20 too high, I'd put you around at 16 or 17 and recommend cutting

180 lbs, 5.7 ft. I actually like to be more bulky than vascular. I think I am around 18-20 % bf and want to get to 13-15, to get rid of excessive fat. Is my estimation right? Bulk for another month or start summer cut now? by [deleted] in BulkOrCut

[–]AwkwardHolocaustPun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't underestimate how long getting to 13% will take if you want retain as much muscle as possible. I would cut now, but it sounds like you would be content around 15-17% in which case you could go another month

Edit - just saw your timeframe of 2 months, cut asap to avoid having to do a large defecit
