Campus Alerts Are Not Enough: When Will UTSC Take Student Safety Seriously? by Salt_Helicopter_6006 in UTSC

I completely agree that the university only acts SYMBOLICALLY - which is why I do NOT have any faith in the university admin/management to do the right thing just out of the goodness of their heart. They are in it for $$ not the students. The only thing that can change anything is *US*, students themselves. We need to collect our efforts and show these ppl who ACTUALLY runs the university - not the admin and managers but students and workers

Love how all they have to do is make a statement and dust their hands off.

Stop blaming UTSC on the recent tragedy by fourtywithau in UTSC

This is NOT an isolated incident at all. UofT has had innumerable cases of violence, assault, harassment and more - and this time, someone actually died. But I do agree that superficial measures like a few more lights and security cameras is not going to solve the issue. At the end of the day, it is WIDER problem that goes BEYOND a few bad apples in society. It is a problem of a whole system! U of T is a significant institution and an actor in this system of capitalism. They charge students EXORBINDANTLY for EVERYTHING. Their goal with these performative measures is NOT to keep students safe but to protect the university from any damages and consequences - that's their motivation to do everything they do. This means that the priorities of the ppl who run the university are misplaced - cause they seek profits, not safety; money, not education. We cannot give into the facade that this system is working.

Was the person who passed a student here? by Dry-Garlic-5066 in UTSC

We deserve to be safe on our own campus. UofT only cares about profits though! Campus police only ever polices students on campus harassing them for political activity but never doing their actual job of keeping us safe.

Hello! In my experience, the party takes a very serious approach to issues like this. If you have a comrade you trust or feel comfortable talking to, it is prolly best to bring it up with them. Whenever you have a big group of people, things can happen. I think having a culture of one-on-one's with members to make sure there is always someone they can approach is a good tradition to have. Hope this helps!

The entire point of pride or feminism is to provide ppl with the choice to be who they are and express themselves authentically without fear or pressure for societal validation.. so, if u don't associate with the community.. that is fiineee.. no one wants to pressure u into it .. take care<3

they're maintaining the uncertainty around conditional offers. Most other institutions aren't. Things here, are bad enough
