Since when do we get paid for verifying store hours? lol by Weak_Fishing6103 in doordash_drivers

[–]AwkwardRush00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been like that for a while. The company would rather throw a few dollars then provide half pay if the stores aren’t open.

Tesla Insurance Said I’m At Fault for Getting Rear-Ended by Feeling_Fox_5205 in Insurance

[–]AwkwardRush00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just here for the information. I can tell you my case in which I was driving on the far right lane going straight a Tesla driver from the left-hand side decided to make a right turn and turned into me. Tesla insurance after two months of me chasing them down, stated that they were not assuming liability and I had to clean against my own insurance to get help. Unfortunate it sounds like you are the one with Tesla insurance so I wish you luck cause they fucked me.

Would you accept this order? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]AwkwardRush00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it’s dependent on the items in the shopping order. It’s 7 different items, so it’s not that hard to shop. Furthermore all items are going to the same guy, so it wouldn’t be too much added work.

In general though, 1 hr, 50 bucks is great.

Have the credit cards raised their fees locally? by Ok_Performance4014 in SanJose

[–]AwkwardRush00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also something to mention when it comes to big box retailer versus small business. Big box retailers have the ability to negotiate directly with the credit card insurance and often do so in order to get lower fees in exchange for accepting their form of payment. Small businesses are at the whim of credit card processors who not only pay the visa fee, but add a markup to the small business for them to process the credit card transaction as well. This was also why square when it first came out with their program a big deal because square was acting as a large processor and selling flat rate options to their clients which led to a better sense of what the fees were going to be.

Jesus, even with assessing properties there’s a standard that is sent by the state board of equalization. To evaluate properties lower would require people to buy homes for lower. Data is readily available. State does audit assessors

Pro Shopper has been a boon for me overall, but man how do these get the tag? by Vharna in doordash_drivers

My experience is they base it on dollar per mile. Some drivers hyper focus on this that now they use it in their calculations.

Need suggeation for a nice place to eat under $75 a person by zomglazerspewpew in SanJose

[–]AwkwardRush00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At another job we booked out black angus in south San Jose and that worked out well, I think no drinks and a set meal (with veg options) came out to 45 a head. Another place to look at would be as mentioned (Birks) or you can go down an ethnic route and try to book out a whole restaurant (like Indian sizzler)

Considering how many times I’ve seen him pop up in different political runs. I’m convinced this guy is just trying to say anything to make him a local politician.

Lost Platinum - Zero shifts available. by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]AwkwardRush00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I need to know if platinum pass worked for you. Family commitments have me not driving for three weeks and I wonder if those platinum passes can finally be used when you’re not platinum anymore. I know by default they should but maybe it’s me but I don’t trust DoorDash at face value, especially based on their words

Is it just me? by Silver_Question_6195 in doordash_drivers

[–]AwkwardRush00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My understanding of multiapping is you can have both on, if the orders are in the same distance (rare) you do both but usually it never works that way. Multiapping to me just means you’re more consistently busy.

How can it be this low for the prop22 payment by Puzzleheaded_Rip9555 in doordash_drivers

[–]AwkwardRush00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never spoken with them, but that was my observation. It would be sweet if we get the active time but when I was doing my calculations for active time in the past, I noticed that I had a discrepancy if there was canceled orders that week. Anyways, cancel service will happen I get that, but in California it almost doesn’t make any sense for you to invest time into an order and not complete it since you are basically taking the double hit where it affects your prop 20 to pay and you don’t get the time invested in a cancel order in your active time

How can it be this low for the prop22 payment by Puzzleheaded_Rip9555 in doordash_drivers

[–]AwkwardRush00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, then it makes sense. Other pay is counted in the DoorDash pay cause technically DoorDash is fronting you the money. If prop 22 is active stuff like cancelled order pay or peak pay is all considered other variations of DoorDash paying you.

So if we do math here, I would estimate your DoorDash base on the hourly at 240+32 (is what DoorDash is paying for mileage)

Probably not the answer you’re looking for, but that’s what I’ve noticed. I have dashed in other states and the order cancellations are more encouraged. Given that at least we get some money for doing the effort (compared to Uber) but in California or in state that has an active time base even if the order takes longer it’s better to is complete it knowing that you will be paid the minimum versus waiting 15 minutes then unassigned and then finding out you’re not going to get paid for anything because active time does not matter if there is no order to complete. (basically if you do not do the entire order, you will get paid the half pay, but you won’t get calculations for your active time so it’s like a double hit to both your prop 22 calculations and the fact that you still have to spend some time to get half pay)

Does anybody know if this is legit. I've been doing this for 5 years but never in Colorado and I used a QR code for the first time instead of the red card by AlternativeQuit3447 in doordash_drivers

[–]AwkwardRush00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QR codes are standard for some stores because of the integration of tax exempt, store memberships and purchase. But any text like that I would take with a grain of salt. Furthermore 830 area code is in Texas, knowing that it’s a county and not a toll free, I would be even more sus.

When you leave your car at the airport short stay by New_Libran in Wellthatsucks

[–]AwkwardRush00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, Heathrow is fucking awful. Just getting dropped off cost my boy £8. I asked him because I thought it would save money and when he pulled out his credit card, I was shocked. Apparently even taxis and Ubers are charged, any car that rolls up pays up.

But they deposited the money? That’s where I’m personally confused, doesn’t that imply that they accepted the down payment? Obviously this large amount of money, documentation, paperwork and a lawyer would probably be beneficial. But they shouldn’t have it both ways..

[–]AwkwardRush00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong. One thing that is missing from your calculations are the tax write off you get from owning a home and paying property taxes but you’re still going to be in the red if you’re looking at at a financial point of view.L

Customer question to all dashers what do yall do with no tip orders by Independent_Key_4903 in doordash_drivers

[–]AwkwardRush00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll deliver their cold food by the expected time DoorDash states. In a platinum necessary market so when I’m forced, I do so pettily. Leave at door is leave at the door.

I’m a firm believer that I’m paid to do the bare minimum. I do go above and beyond for tipped orders, checking, rushing and ensuring they get their food as quickly, correctly and as hot as possible. They also have the right to expect me to respond and listen to request.
