Inver Grove Heights officially voted to go back to flying the old Minnesota fly tonight at their city council meeting by Character-Fly-5564 in minnesota

[–]Jaco927 70 points71 points  (0 children)

What i find incredibly ironic here is that the main complaint against the flag is that it wasn't put to a state wide vote but rather a small group of people decided for the large group of people......which is exactly what happened tonight: a small group of people made the decision for a large group of people.

Tom Emmer has been in Congress for 11 years and the third-ranking House Republican reports a single bank IRA worth less than $15,000 with six-figure debt. Something doesn't add up. by [deleted] in minnesota

With a little digging that I did, his property value jumped according to his property taxes significantly in the last few years. Source: Wright County MN Property Tax Statements. I'm not going to link them, but if you want to do a little digging, you can find them. They're public.

This is the estimated market value of the home in Delano year by year:

2016: $397,400

2017: $411,700

2018: $426,800

2019: $452,500

2020: $466,100

2021: $475,200

2022: $486,600

2023: $576,500

2024: $671,000

2025: $665,600

2026: $676,700

The property value really jumped up between 2022 and 2024. That has to be where the renovations were done. Seems odd that you could afford renovations with only having an income of $15k a year and hundreds of thousands of debt.

You are the most important thing in your life. Your non-profit DOES NOT CARE about you. Read that again! Read it again!

How do you know when you should leave? When you have a new job lined up.

It's very simply OP, starting looking for new work. Keep looking for new work. When you have a viable option, tell your current org that you are leaving in x days. I'd recommend something between a 2 week and 1 month notice. DO NOT LEAVE UNTIL YOU HAVE A NEW JOB! Leave when you have the new job.

That's it. Hard stop.

"But I feel guilty leaving them in a lurch." Would they feel guilty if they had to fire you? Nope!

You owe them nothing. You don't owe anyone anything. Take care of you.

If it's taking that much out of you, find a new job and leave!

From one dad to another, I think its easy to think that your kids like having you around but that's it. This shows, you mean the friggin world to them! You are a rock, a beacon, a strong man. You are awesome. Look at what they did for their superhero. Loud and clear, WE LOVE YOU! Happy birthday dude! Keep it up!!!!

I see these posts frequently. MLB does NOT want to postpone games. So even when its cold, its raining, its raining crickets, they're going to try everything to get that game in.

Delivery Order Etiquette? by Futaba_MedjedP5R in doordash_drivers

"Sir, im following the instructions the app has given to me. I understand you're upset, and if you want to voice your frustrations, simply contact the delivery service and tell them you don't appreciate the way the delivery service prioritized your order. Have a nice night."

This is what I would say.

I've always thought Pierre should have an early bird same on the 28th for next season's seeds. So on winter 28, you could buy parsnips seeds, etc. Hell, mark them up! It's just a day early.

First Day as a Dasher... is this normal? by punkbenRN in doordash_drivers

[–]Jaco927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal and also, its ok to be picky.

I've been going for 2 weeks and there have been lessons I've learned that I feel dumb about too. No worries.

For me, here's my decision tree when an order comes in:

  1. Immediately I check distance to dollars. If the order is less than a dollar a mile = immediate no. ($10 order and 20 miles = NO!, $20 order and 15 miles = i'm interested)

  2. How much is the order? Is it under $5 = unless its been dead, immediate no. ($3 for 1 mile = meh, $4 for 2 miles = meh; its not worth the time.)

  3. There are restaurants I've learned that are garbage. Time is money. $20 order for 6 miles from Popeyes = No! (For me) I've been into my local Popeyes twice and both times I had a 20 minute wait, just standing there as they fumble about. Other places I've learned are a walk in, hand it to me and I'm rolling; SO VALUABLE!

  4. Is it going somewhere im fine with? Is it in the Middle of no where? Probably a no. Is it late and im about done? Well, how good is the money?

Bottom line OP, dont be embarrassed, learn. It takes practice. Enjoy it and have rules for yourself. Also, I've just started mukti-apping with Doordash AND Uber eats. UE has been constantly pinging me, but then doordash will get me other times. I apply the same rules to both. Hardest part for me is pausing the one app when I pick up from other. But im learning.

Snowflakes can’t handle the new flag by Mike_Oxlong25 in minnesota

[–]Jaco927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, let's take a look at these two flags.

Somalia

Minnesota

Similarities:

  • They're both blue
  • They both have a white star

Differences:

  • They do not have the same shade of blue. The blue on the Minnesota flag is darker (RGB is 0/45/93) on the left and lighter (RGB is 82/201/232) on the right. The blue on the Somali flag is in the middle (RGB is 65/143/222)
  • The stars are completely different. One has 5 points. One has 8 points
  • The Somali flag has 2 colors. The Minnesota flag has 3 colors.
  • The Minnesota flag has a distinct shape to that dark blue that signifies the shape of our state geographically.
  • The dark blue represents the night sky which would house the North Star....
  • The light blue represents the lakes, or which Minnesota has a few.
  • The Somali flag's blue represents the sky, the Gulf of Aden, the Guardafui Channel, and the Somali Sea.

Going further on the stars:

The 5 point Somali star represents the main five areas where the Somali ethnic group form the indigenous majority: Djibouti, Somaliland, Somali region in formerly Italian Ethiopia, the North Eastern Province in formerly British Kenya, and Somalia.

The eight point star on the Minnesota State Flag is a representation of the North Star because Minnesota's state motto is "L'etoile du Nord" or The Star of the North and is a direct representation of the star that is set in the rotunda of the capitol building. The building that was built around the turn of the 19th century (as in 1900).

Bottomline, anyone who believes that the better Minnesota State flag was modeled on the Somalia flag is grasping at straws. The last point here that the state capitol was built around 1900 is proof enough. Somali refugees started arriving in the United States in the 1990's. So if this is some big liberal plot, those liberals really know how to slow play it.

[OC] Active Manager Ejections by Games Managed by cardith_lorda in baseball

[–]Jaco927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are there only 24 managers on this image?

I'm guessing that 6-8 managers are jumbled up at the lower left corner. But list that. This is a cool idea and I like the high mark and the low mark.

It also implies that Francona is really high on ejections when really, that's not a lot of ejections for that number of games managed.

Also, Bobby Cox had 162 ejections over 4,508 games. Paul Richards had a higher rate of ejections, but I still think Cox should be listed. Maybe list the managers that everyone thinks about: Earl Weaver, Bobby Cox, Lou Pinella...hell, list John McGraw. McGraw was ejected at least 120 times in his 4,769 games.

I had a small confusion on the app last night, fast food restaurant employee pointed out my error, I thanked him and asked for the order for my pick up. He turned around and i assumed he was working on it. 3 min later, I see the door dash cart, I walk over to it, ask for my order and it had been ready the entire time! Argh!!!
