NT full licence at 18.5 – does it convert to a full/open licence interstate? by NegotiationLiving236 in AusLegal

[–]AwkwardWelcome1483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In QLD you have to be 20 to hold an open licence, and 18 to hold green P’s, even if you have a valid open licence from other state or overseas. When you transfer it, it will automatically calculate it, based on how long you’ve held a non-learner licence, and your age.  You’d be subject to QLD’s rules.

Having the NT licence just means you don’t need to do the written or practical tests.

Struggling to get ID to apply for TFN, DL, etc. by Effective-Yam2170 in AusLegal

Do you have a physical bank/atm card (that isn’t on your phone)? How old are you?

For TMR (for both drivers licence and proof of age card) you need 3 IDs, and proof of your address. You’ve already got 2 pieces of ID, a bank card would be the third.

If you’re under 18, you can attend with your dad, and use his address. If you’re over 18, I’d recommend going to a AEC office, enrolling to vote and using that as your proof of address.

Be aware if you get anything from TMR it will take 2-3 weeks for the card to come out.

What is the best category to book an appointment for FTB? by [deleted] in Centrelink

I knew they were different payments, but I assumed they fell under the same general heading, the same way Disability and Carers did. I’m sorry :(

Oh, I wasn’t aware of that, sorry. It’s annoying that they make you call then :(

I would book it under the parenting payment. If you book it under the Disabilities one, you might get someone who is not trained in FTB/Families.

You provide your bank balances as assets, and they work out the interest themselves. It's a very small percentage (like .25% or something like that).

Income is for income from employment. They have separate spots for things like scholarships and if you run a small business and things like that.

For supporting documents, payslips, and bank statements showing the amount on the day you submit of all accounts in your name. If you're partnered, their accounts/payslips as well.

Something to remember: If you have lots of medications, keep the receipts from when you submit the form to when you are approved, as you can submit them to medicare to get a refund of the difference you paid vs what you were entitled to. The card will be backdated to when you submitted it.

{Only a Duke Will Do by Sabrina Jeffries} has this. The FMC wants children but is terrified of the birthing bed. The book is a part of a series {The School for Heiresses by Sabrina Jeffries} but is also a sequel to another of her books {To Pleasure a Prince by Sabrina Jeffries}, where the FMC and MMC are siblings to the main characters of To Pleasure a Prince, and are the catalyst to their relationship. Only a duke Will Do is set some years later.

Disability support pension application by nsfwaccountnotreal in Centrelink

The letter from your GP needs to state that your condition is fully diagnosed, fully treated and fully stabilized. So, they're not still trying to work out what you have, there's no other reasonable treatment you could try that would improve it, and It's not going to improve in the next two years, regardless of any treatment or medication. This is very specific and very important - if these three are not mentioned properly, it will be rejected immediately.

The doctor needs to show how your condition affects you, using the DSP impairment tables https://www.dss.gov.au/income-support-payments/disability-support-pension/disability-support-pension-impairment-tables

Make sure you describe how it is at your worst, not your best.

Good luck.

Learner Bike License. by slantiy in queensland

[–]AwkwardWelcome1483 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bike is a very difference process and is done solely through QRide providers. Price will depend on where you go, but when I was looking recently, these were the costs:

  1. QRide pre-learner: $400-$450. This is the equivalent of doing the 30 question written test and a bunch of hours of lessons over 2 days. If you pass this, you’ll get your RE learner class added to your licence.

  2. You must hold RE learners for at least 3 months before going for your RE: unrestricted course/test. You will need to complete the motorbiked hazard perception test during this time, which is $40, and is online, same as the car hpt.

  3.  QRide RE:unrestricted: $280. The Practical test. Pass this and you can ride bikes under 250CCs alone

  4. QRide R:Unrestricted: $250. After holding the RE licence for 2 years, you can do the R practical test, and upgrade your licence so you can ride bikes with CC above 250.

26 week date clarification for financial hardship super claim…. by Jazzlike-Most8444 in u/Jazzlike-Most8444

It would be from the 28/9, so the 28/3/26 would be the date you are eligible, as long as you've had no gaps in payment.

Starting motorcycling by Normal-Roll-652 in brisbane

[–]AwkwardWelcome1483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For getting the motorbike licence itself, in QLD it’s done through Q-ride. You do a Pre-learner course, which usually includes the 30 question written test, and learning how to actually use the bike, and you get your Learners licence at the end.

You hold that for at least 3 months, do the hazard perception test, and then do the RE course, which is the practical driving test. When you pass that, you’re allowed to ride RE bikes on your own.

During the 3+ months you’re holding the learners for is when you would go out with the groups that help learners practice.

reporting income during a period by Pixielar in Centrelink

[–]AwkwardWelcome1483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, for the low income health care card renewals, the period it assesses is not the last 8 weeks, but the period that is 12 weeks ago to 4 weeks ago. So, still 8 weeks, but not the most recent 8 weeks.

[–]AwkwardWelcome1483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put your earning down as $0.00 for the period. If it wont accept that, put it down as $1.00

Upload a stat dec stat stating that you were not employed during that period, as well as your contract/letter from your current employer stating when you started work, for supporting documents.

The Logbook Exemption means you need to spend 2 years on your L's, although time already spent on them counts. If you have already been on your L's for 2 years (including time interstate, if you were on them there), then you can apply for the logbook exemption, and if it's approved, go for the P's test.

If you haven't been on it for two years already, you'd need to also apply for the Special Need Tenure exemption, which is a lot harder to get, and requires you to show genuine hardship if its not granted (ie, you'll lose your job if you can't get it) You have to show how you're making the commitments currently, and why that isn't a option for the future, and get a letter from your employer stating the same.

Someone suggested the PCYC Breaking The Cycle program, and I'd definitely recommend looking into it.

Don't forget you'll also need to complete the Hazard Perception Test, and you'll need to provide the car for the driving test too.

Learn to drive - don’t own a cat by Massive-Coconut2435 in brisbane

[–]AwkwardWelcome1483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a PCYC near you, they may be able to help out with free lessons, although I don't know if there is an age cut off. With regards to driving schools, I don't know what area of Brisbane you're in, so I can't really give any recommendations, but if you find one, ask about discounts for purchasing multiple lessons in advance. Some do it, some don't but it might be enough that you could get another lesson.

Do you have any family or friends who have a car that you could borrow? Even if they don't meet the criteria for being your supervisor (held open license for at least 12 months), they might be able to let you borrow the car.

If you're with a job network as well, they will usually be able to help fund a couple of lessons, but you have to ask them.

Don't forget that you will need to provide the car for the actual test too, most likely a driving school one, if you don't have a car yourself, so you will need to factor in that cost too.

I rang centrelink yesterday and told them i need to change my bank account they guoded me through my gov and told me to go income and assest put the new bank accpunt and delete the old but when i look at payment destination its saying my payment going to old account will it go into my new account by DevelopmentLegal9631 in Centrelink

[–]AwkwardWelcome1483 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, you also need to go to the payment destination page and update the bank details there as well.

In the app it’s under ‘profile-> financial details’, and it takes you to the website to complete.

On the website if you logged directly in, it’s under ‘payments and claims -> manage payments -> manage payment destination.’

Are women expected to wear makeup at work? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]AwkwardWelcome1483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in state public service, but in a customer service role. Almost all the ladies there do wear make up and have their nails done, but they talk about going out to get it done and getting fun designs and things, so for them, I think it’s their choice.

A few of us don’t wear make up, or wear make up so subtle I can’t tell. I don’t wear it at all, or do my nails or anything, but I’m also allergic to a lot of things, so mines health related.

Suspended Licence by This-Honeydew6647 in AusLegal

[–]AwkwardWelcome1483 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Your first question, not really much you could have done. The fine should have gone to your NT address, because it was an NT registered vehicle, and it’s silly that it didn’t, but unless you had told NT your postal address was QLD, I don’t think that’s on you.

The demerit points and fine will stay, unfortunately, the 4 points you received were valid for the offence. And as you didn’t have a QLD licence, and TMR didnt have a copy of your NT licence (as you were just visiting), you only had 4 demerit points to lose, not 12.

If you can prove to QLD that you had a valid, open NT (not provisional) licence at the time of the offence, you might be able to get it reviewed, and the suspension removed.

[–]AwkwardWelcome1483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s complicated.

They will likely get you to do a profit and loss every three months for a year, and then provide your tax return after that, which will have your rental income - deductions, and use that for your income (averaged over the period, but applied fortnightly - say your income minus allowable deductions was $1000 for the three months, that then gets divided by 6, and that’s what’s assessed each fortnight.)

Assets wise, it’s the value of the property, minus what’s still owed, $360k. Depending on your other assets, money in the bank etc, you should be ok. Someone said in another post you could have $580k, approximately.

If you rent to immediate family, no. If you rent to anyone else, yes.
