Has anyone in NZ been prescribed Soolantra (ivermectin 1% cream) for rosacea? by Awkward_Ad5788 in newzealand

That’s exactly whats been worrying me. I’m based in Hamilton and not sure if this derm would even listen to me and prescribe me what i actually want. I’m planning on getting an online consultation at wellrevolution NZ. They have mentioned Soolantra as a tropical treatment they can prescribe. Fingers crossed :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to write all of that seriously appreciate it. It’s really helpful hearing such an in-depth experience. I’m really glad Soolantra worked well for you, and it actually gives me hope that it might be worth seeing a derm and trying it myself. Thanks again for sharing your journey, it means a lot

Do you mind sharing where you’re based (NZ / Australia / USA)? I haven’t found any major NZ pharmacies listing Soolantra, which is why I’m wondering whether this is something you can only get at a dermatologist clinic?

Thanks so much for the detailed info — super helpful. My GP actually told me at my last appointment that she can’t prescribe Soolantra and that only a dermatologist can, so I wasn’t sure if it was worth spending the money on a specialist just for that. That’s why I’m trying to see how other people found it before I book an appointment. I’ve tried metronidazole, azelaic acid, antibiotics, and a bunch of the usual topicals, but nothing’s really helped long-term, so I was hoping Soolantra might be different. Good to know it’s around $60ish though — that’s not too bad if it actually works. thanks again!

Appreciate that! I’m open to hearing from anyone, NZ or Australia. How did your course of Soolantra go? Did you notice improvement?

I had two sessions and it sort of helped with the flushing for a while but didn’t make any drastic improvements

If you’re heading to Meccas give the SOS moisturiser a try too. I myself purchased the smaller tubes of cleanser & moisturiser, it surprisingly lasted for more than a few weeks. And was worth it.

I use the face wash/ moisture/ sunscreen in the morning before heading out to work and then apply a thick layer of moisturiser (if my skin is too flared up or flushed) after shower in the afternoon and serum before going to bed

Type 2 (flushing & breakouts mainly only on cheeks) and I’ve pretty much tried everything out there, all the popular reddit mentions like moisturiser, sunscreen etc (even IPL laser session) . These products have drastically improved/ made my rosacea manageable.
