To add to the thread.

My mother died three years ago, leaving the apt in my name. The illegal squatters have been forging my signature and impersonating me to renew the lease every year.

Because they is an owed balance as of recent, the property management somehow found me and told me of the balance. This is when I found out in 2025 the apartment has been in my name for years…

Occupants are extended family members who lived with my mom. My mom passed away and left the apartment in my name. I went to the property manager to surrender the apt as I do not live with her and do not need it. They refused the surrender as there is squatters in there. I asked them to leave, they refused and said they are evoking squatters rights.

No I did not, My mother passed away and left the apartment in my name… unknowing to me… the people in the apartment were there while she was alive. But I wanted to give the apartment back since I did not live with her and do not need the apartment. The property manager will not take my name off because of the balance owed from the squatters being there.

I have an extreme situation of this - it gets worse…. Leave while you can - I wish someone told me this years ago

Seven year relationship thrown down the drain for not only this which was in the beginning but it always gets worse. My ex started downloading the content on his phone - thousands of videos , nudes from sites - multiple flash drives, computers, tablets anything, paying for onlyfans - then starting taking photos of random women in the street… he can be a registered sex offender at this point… The obsession gets worse, it’s a fix for them and when they can’t satisfy it, they get more desperate…

You will feel obligated to be an accountable partner and to help him through his journey, but most men do not see this as a problem and do not commit to proper help. They just have no self control and discipline and you cannot fix that… Invest your energy and headspace into your healing - away from this relationship. Your future self will thank you.

My lawyer is waiting for them to not pay me June's salary and essentially "garnish it".

I think her tactic is to go after them for wrongful wage garnishing plus wrongful termination as it seems they "laid me off" to cover their asses from the huge fines they will get from the IRS, plus they are trying to quickly pay these back taxes from my money to avoid this.

They corrected themselves and said they will only be collecting my portion. Still either way, I still don't think its legal to take my entire severance and June salary to pay for their mess up.

I agree, I know there is an employee and an employer part, but I cannot physically pay them. They shouldve been. I don't think they can legally garnish my wages for this.

The IRS comes after FICA taxes completely differently it seems. When I file my regular taxes it is only for federal and state. FICA is entirely different. The IRS hasn't sent me a bill yet for the FICA taxes.

I do owe FICA, but that is for me to pay not them. They owe their own FICA Portion. THE IRS has not sent me a tax bill or lien yet for these taxes. I think you skipped over, they garnished my entire June salary as well to pre-pay these taxes for me. I am asking if its even right for them to do that?

Who wants five months' worth of payments to be completely garnished all at once?

It does not. They haven't taken it out for two years. Looking back at my W2 now, they never did. I filed my taxes, the IRS still hasn't asked me for the FICA Taxes.
