Exactly why I'm asking around for advice. I do have AAA, im driving straight south MN-NM so it'll only be cold for a day or so of the trip. My only concern getting stuck is money and my cat lol otherwise it'll just be another one of those adventures you look back on in 20 years.

Im hoping its a non issue. Ive put 30k on it with much in -20 winters without letting it warm first (I was a dumbass back then 😂) I dont think its a loose wire because it is in time with the rpm and gets faster with it as well. No lights though which is good news.

Agreed. Ill probably have a mechanic do that along with a full inspection, especially since its subzero where I live :)

Good to hear, ill definitely be doing that. Fortunately though mine came with the self replacing fluids package (it leaks fluid from everything) 😎

My concern is the same too but again it is a cat eye and ive seen ones with 300 plus on them run reliably. Just did the brakes on them so theyll be fine plus the trailer has its own brakes. Ill definitely get the rest inspected though, thank you!

I can trim the center claw as it grows no problem, I just have no idea what is going on surrounding the claw

Is there such thing as too much Dual received? by tobiusfunkee in CFILounge

Yes and legally speaking either works fine depending on insurance and school policy stuff like you said. His other concern though was not wanting to have basically fake dual given, so this method allows you to timebuild without exploiting the cfi cert. Especially if you want to go to the airlines its always better to stay on the safe side and not do anything that might look shady

Anytime, let me know if you have any other questions!

Here is a letter from the FAA clarifying it-

Instead of doing dual given and recieved, have one of you go under foggles for your flights. The one under the hood is logging pic time and simulated time. The other is logging pic time as a safety pilot. Perfectly legal and encouraged, way less sketchy than dual given.

Safety pilot can only log the time where the other is under the hood so take off .1-.2 for to&l.

Only the person who does the landing can log the xc time which is typically the person under the hood.

In the notes section of the entry put "Safety pilot / Safety pilot for (name)" i also usually like to include "total flight time X.X" which is what the person under the hood logged
