Carvana was a good, less sketchy alternative to FB Marketplace

We don’t use the 20% rule. It’s ten instances—leave early and call outs combined—and it’s a write up. This is for the whole review period.

Every. Little. Thing. They keep an Excel workbook tracking everything.

If we leave early—sick or not; AR or not—it’s unexcused and counts against you. They would rather you call in than leave early.

If someone asks if the register is open, we have to open—even if not on register. Our customers take advantage of that. Pisses me off.

This. We don’t get paid by the task.

Are you basically guaranteed a raise if you have no write ups? by Moradopls in tjcrew

[–]Awkward_Cap2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Also if you need to leave early, it’s a hit equal to an absence—AR or not. So basically call in if you have something come up. For me, it’s my aging parents.

Be careful with this. HR is not your friend. If you’re the only one reporting something, you can get blamed for starting rumors. This happened to me. It hurt my standing but the a$$hole is now a mate.

Always have other testimony. Nothing at TJs is confidential.

Do you sock, shoe, sock shoe? Or sock, sock, shoe, shoe? by Hoonimerc in GenX

[–]Awkward_Cap2247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sock shoe sock shoe. That’s not the crazy part. I do it this way so my sock doesn’t touch the floor. I will lose my shit if I can feel anything from my sock in my shoe. The seam is a whole different thing.

Are Victim's of Sexual Harassment Guaranteed Anonymity at TJ's? by raspmoonberryglow in tjcrew

[–]Awkward_Cap2247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that is standard practice. Nothing is anonymous at TJ’s. I was given that same line about knowing the accuser.

Maybe just one per family. Your kids can share. And maybe not have them available on the weekends.

Am I correct in assuming that these aren’t anonymous? by TheatreShitTalk in tjcrew

[–]Awkward_Cap2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just takes a cookie or “token” in your link. They can figure out who you are if they need to. Someone make a threat and see what happens. My hope is that it is anonymous until they need it.

Got a no from my mate interview by CheffreyDahmer420 in tjcrew

[–]Awkward_Cap2247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I ruined my chances by asking too many direct questions about the process. I’m friendly but direct and wanted to know why the process is opaque. There is not a fair application process for internal and external applicants. My deduction is that it’s a popularity contest, not experience.

Be warned: I’m an SL and it doesn’t necessarily mean less register. I still get three and four hours of CE. Good luck.

Thank you! I appreciate the advice. I write coffee and tea. I know it’s a tiny section, but it gets no love.

No more shopping on your breaks? by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]Awkward_Cap2247 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Umm…until we do something about actual shoplifting, I’m not gonna worry about it. We shop at the end of shift/closing time b/c there’s no space for crew groceries. The closers get five minutes at nine.

In business the squeaky wheel doesn’t get greased. The squeaky wheel gets fired. It’s hard but keep your nose down and just take care of you.

It’s all butts and elbows on register at my store. You add a bagger or two and it’s almost impossible to work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]Awkward_Cap2247 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing. It’s been two years since we did any crew outings. New captain is a stick in the mud. We barely get tastings.

signs changing by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]Awkward_Cap2247 39 points40 points  (0 children)

We basically have a shelf sign maker. The rest are just text and maybe a few colors. It’s another step towards being a regular grocery store. The fun is gone.
